I should be better about updating this thread. (Kinda afraid to go back over it and see how many times I’ve said that)

2016 is finally getting close to the end. As I don’t have any major painting project planned in these last couple of weeks, I’ve started to give thought to my year end reports. Most of the verbose rambeling I’ll do over in my blog, but I wanted to drop a few pis here.

First is the techmarine on bike I just finished.

He’s more dynamic then the rest of my bikers. You can tell he’s either taking his jink save, or someone’s head off with his axe.

He’s the last tech I needed to finish all the options for them. They’ve got less then most HQs.

And with them done, I now have a full matrix of every way to field a SM HQ. Not every weapon option, but the foot/bike/TDA/JP options.

I’ve got multiples of a bunch of those squares, but putting all my HQs into the grid would make it terribly cluttered.

And here is what I suspect will be the year end shot for what I’ve done in 2016:

See you all next year!

Well, the year is off to a decent start. Got a 5 man squad of terminators done and an old pirate for the monthly comp.

And while it might be a little sparse for now, it will grow. Here is the "Year to Date” painted pile:

quite awesome as usual!

I really like the gold, it really fits the tartaros models.

The pirate is also very nice!

The core of my sternguard are two old metal boxes. Well, a box and a pair of blisters; The metal sternguard box before they went plastic, and the tyranic war vets. For the most part, the rest are plastic. One new plastic sternguard box is in there, but many are just bits cobbed together from assorted places. Plus one old RT guy, soldiering on.

Just finished up the last guys for my Deathwatch project. It started with the Mantis Warrior who I painted for a competition. Some of the older guys were from all the DW pads I had accumulated over the years. With the release of the new DW box, I decided to finish out the squad. They are built to play as sternguard, but I could use the official DW rules for them if I wanted.

Looking awesome Nev.

I like the addition of the GK bits, they blend really well into the squad overall.

And I also really like the greens and yellows of the mantis warrior. The freehand is also amazing too.

The GK box is just a nice one to have. Lots of fun projects can be found in it. Mostly librarians, but there are some other choice bits.

I still can believe I got that freehand to work. Kinda crazy in retrospect.

Another year, another 12 months of competition entries. 24/24.

Top half of the year’s painting competition.

And my YTD shelf. (not including the lander bits, which are on the next shelf down)

So 2017 is winding down. Still got some time, but this might be the year-end shot. Compared to last year’s I didn’t get as much done. But on the other hand, I finished getting divorced, moved out of my house, and got a job in 2017. So there have been a few things going on. I should get a better pic, unfortunately my YTD progress shelf does not have very good light.

While the volume is not a high as last year, diversity is up. 2017 saw me painting different things, with different styles, and getting better as a painter overall.

Edit:
Out on the table in slightly better light

<knocks the dust off>

Yesterday I made a list of everything in my Eldar collection that I didn’t have a decent lightbox picture of. Today, I broke out the camera. I probably should get them all on the table for a giant army shot, but it’s notoriously hard to actually make out anything in those, so here is just the collection by category. Obviously this collection spans a lot of time. You can see where there was a large break. Older stuff is when I was in my black wash EVERYTHING phase, and it shows. New stuff is a lot cleaner. I’ve done some touchups on a few older things, like when I added new members to the spiders and hawks to get them up to legal squad sizes. Of course, as I post this I’ve got another WL working her way across the paintbench, so a “complete” army showcase is a dream that’s just not going to happen.

Hey, it’s not like I’m doing “Every <blank> I own” posts for every army I have. I’ll leave that to you. This isn’t even all the Eldar I own. Just the stuff I can field in squads legally in 8th. I have a few odds and bobs kicking around still.

And I prefer “inspired by”
