Thanks guys!
Made some more progress today, finished the unit of Archers in one go!
And here's the full squad in action:
I also managed to get a game in yesterday, the FLGS ran some demo-games in the afternoon, so naturally I headed over there with my beloved Skeletons to kick ass and take names
Unfortunately, my opponent and myself forgot to take pictures during the match, although he did manage to snag two pics of the final moments of the battle:
Here, the surviving Stormcast battle my as-of-yet untouched Skeleton Archers. In the back, the resurrected unit of Grave Guard prepares to leap into the fray. They really pulled their weight here, murdering a nasty unit of Retributors and several Liberators before getting killed in the previous turns. On the right, sadly out of screen, my Necromancer directs his forces to victory while also slinging spells around like a badass.
And this is pretty much the last action in the game, a lone Liberator-Prime holding his own against the horde of skeletons around him. Earlier, the Skeleton Archers managed to murder the Lord-Relictor, which in itself was rather hilarious
Other notable moments were the oh- sh*t-moment at the beginning of the game where my opponent' Retributors sidestepped my Skeleton Warriors and charged my Spirit Hosts, the "champion" of which held out until the Grave Guard managed to catch up and relieve him, after which he charged into the Liberators and finally had a climactic duel with the Lord-Relictor, which he sadly lost. The moment the tide turned was memorable as well, sheer terror creeping up on me as I realized the Stormcast were now powering through my lines towards my Necromancer and Archers.
All in all, it was an amazingly fun game, and I hope to have more of them in the near future!
Lastly, I put together another Necromancer/Liche Priest from the Battle Wizard kit, have a look:
I only did some minor conversion work here, I simply replaced the orb in his right hand with the bottle and genie from the kit. I really like how it looks like he's really summoning some eerie ghost to do his bidding...
That's all I have for now, hope you guys enjoy reading all my ramblings

Fellow Dakkanites, I have a problem.
Said problem is that somehow, Chaos manages to sneak itself into every single blog I've ever posted on this website. Apparantly, the Dark Gods were ill-pleased with my temporary switch to Age of Sigmar, and even more so with my choice to not play a Chaos army in aformentioned setting.
So they decided that the best way to convert me back to their ruinous ways was to add a Khorne Slaughterpriest to the latest White Dwarf completely free of charge.
Aaaaaaaand... it worked.
Feth.
Anyways, as my soul is already lost to the Primordial Annihilator anyway, I might as well embrace the corruption whole-heartedly. However, being the rebellious spirit that I am, I decided that I wouldn't be the only one who gets to follow a new creed...
Introducing....the Painlord, a Chaos Lord of Slaanesh !
The dissapearance of Slaanesh had profound consequences for its many followers. Champions no longer felt her divine touch caressing them in their battles, her influence across the Realms waned adaemons appeared fragmented and disjointed whenever they were summoned. This caused some of her greatest followers to set out on quests to find their missing liege, while others lost themselves in insanity, or desperately clung to aspiring Greater daemons who vied for the Mistress' place in the pantheon.
The brute known as the Painlord was one of those who did not take her dissapearance very well.
Possessed by a rage that competes with those of Khorne's Bloodbound, the Painlord butchers himself a path through the Realms, slaughtering the worshippers of the usurpers with fervent glee as he searches for his Goddess. He promises nothing but extreme pain and agony to all who stand in his way, roaring his praise to Slaanesh in concert with the screams of his victims.
The Painlord is followed by a small group of Beastmen and Chaos Warriors, who hope that their Lord finds his liege before he turns his attentions on them instead...
So, as you can see, I converted the Slaughterpriest a bit, swapping his hackblade for a shiny new spear and adding some bits here and there. Despite this being heresy of the most devious kind, I quite like how he's turned out, I think he looks Slaaneshi enough to pass as a convincing Lord of Slaanesh Not the most difficult conversion in the world, but I'm quite proud of it
The idea of converting him to Slaanesh was partly inspired by the amazing blog Sigvald Reborn here on DakkaDakka, and partly by my growing interest in the Beastmen models, whose bestial nature somehow reminded me of the worshippers of Dionysus, and well... Slaanesh and Dionysus have a fair bit in common, don't they
I've tried to keep him as WYSIWYG, so I gave him a lance from the Chaos Knights kit and a sword at his hip from the Khorne Berzerkers kit; that way, he's equipped exactly like a regular Chaos Lord
So yeah, expect to see some Chaos popping up here in the near future

Speaking of converting things...
There's no good way of saying this, so I'll just be direct:
I built a Demon Goat.
So, yeah... meet Randy the Demon Goat, also known as Ol' Stabby:
Now perhaps I should give some more context to this... creature. I'm thinking of starting a second AOS army -a Chaos one, obviously- and I've finally come up with a small and hopefully fun list, consisting of two units of Gors, a unit of Chaos Warriors, a unit of Hellstriders and a Chaos Lord. That only amounts to 540 points, though, so I started looking for something to fill up those last 60 points to get to 600. Eventually I settled for a single Chaos Spawn, which could also double as a Fiend of Slaanesh if necessary.
Of course, I could've just bought the Chaos Spawn kit and built two of the buggers in one go, but I personally don't like GW's models, which are also rather expensive. So I turned to scratchbuilding my own little gribbly monster of the Dark Gods, resulting in this Warg-Goat-demon hybrid, which ties in nicely with the Beastmen contingent of the warband.
So yeah, there you have it
The conversion itself was rather simple, although it did require a bunch of Greenstuff to fill up the gaps and cover any imperfections. I added the mutated arm to show that this thing was once a Beastlord, who apparantly displeased (or perhaps, did please) Slaanesh in some way, resulting in him getting turned into a demon goat. His back is my favorite part of the conversion though, I really like how the spikes blend into the beast's fur (which looks rather chaosy, too)
That's all I have for now, let me now what you think!

Excellent ! loving all the details, elongated tail and the pikes coming out of the back or the two human arms on the same side. That gives a look that could be found in medieval representation of demons...
But I think what I love the most is that the human hand and the fact that the face still looks a bit humanoid, makes you go "Yeaaaah, not sure I want to know more about his origin story and the inter specie couple that birthed him..."
Great work !

Thanks for the kind words, Kernel! I certainly enjoyed building him, even if I spend some time wondering what the hell I was doing with my life
I went to the FLGS store yesterday to pick up a box of Gors to toy around with, mostly to see if I like the models enough to buy a second box of them later on. I put 6 of them together with blu-tack, in an effort to appease Slaanesh (and to test a few of the poses)
Here's what they look like at the moment:
The Champion, who I'm trying to give an epic Keeper of Secrets-esque helmet. Not too happy with the weapon, though, I feel that followers of Slaanesh should have more... elegant weaponry
Two shield-bearing Gors, posed mid-attack. I especially like the second one, because that crest is just too awesome
The Hornblower.
The Standard Bearer, who carries an icon of Slaanesh. Might swap out the icon for the banner that comes with the kit, though, as it's pretty damn awesome.
And here's a group shot with the Lord and the Spawn:
Now, there's also been some progress on the Undead side of things. I've finally gotten around to converting the last two Hexwraiths into Spirit Hosts!
The last Spirit Host is an old metal model that I still need to put together, and I've also just received my not-Bone Giant from Reaper Miniatures, so you can expect an update on those guys sometime soon
That's all I have for now, hope you enjoy!

As said in the previous post, I've finally received my Bone Giant in the mail! I assembled him rather quickly, and after cutting a cardboard base for him, the real fun could begin...
Of all constructs spawned by the sinister Necromancers throughout the Mortal Realms, the Bone Giants are perhaps the most dangerous to encounter. Notoriously difficult to bind to one's service, and even more so to actually control them, a single loyal Bone Giant is an asset that many a Necromancer would murder their own kin for. Possessed by a most belligerent spirit, either their own or one bound to them, the Bone Giant gleefully throws itself into the fray, hacking apart its opponents with ease while shrugging off wounds that would have laid low even the greatest warriors.
This particular specimen was found rampaging through the ruins of an ancient human civilization, locked in a battle for territory with forces of a Flesh-eaters court. After this battle, it was tracked down by agents of the Slave-Borne King, who ordered the beast captured and converted to the cause. However, another player had set his eyes upon the Bone Giant as well...
He's a rather big bugger, ain't he? I was worried for a moment that he wouldn't be big enough compared to the rest of the army, but as you can see in the next pic, he looks just fine next to his buddies
Speaking of his buddies, I built and painted that old metal Wraith I had lying around, who joins the two converted Hexwraiths from the previous post to form my second unit of Spirit Hosts
He was pretty fun and simple to paint, I'm quite happy with how he turned out I messed up the wash on his face, though, but I managed to fix it in the end
That's all I have for now, the next update will probably contain either the last two Spirit Hosts or the Bone Giant in their fully painted glory

Thanks guys!
After some struggling with the colour scheme, I managed to get both the Spirit Hosts unit and the Bone Giant finished today! The Bone Giant was a bit of a challenge, especially colour-wise, as he's got a lot of nice little details, but I like how he turned out in the end
Let's have a look then, shall we?
Here's some pics of the Spirit Hosts:
Looking back at this little project, I really enjoyed building these guys. Originally, I was going to use Grave Guard legs instead of Skeleton Warriors ones, but I think these work just as well (if not better, actually). It also gave me an opportunity to experiment with Green stuff some more, although that did challenge my patience somewhat
Now, on to the main course of this post... behold, the Bone Giant in his painted, war-hungry glory!
I'm going to be honest, this guy took a lot longer than I would've liked He looks pretty damn amazing though, and seeing him finally come together with the washes and drybrushing was immensely satisfying
I also spent some time on fluffy details to really establish this monster as a 'living', murderous thing in the Realms. I tried to show his belligerent nature by adding stuff like the slain Zombie, the discarded helmet and of course, by spraying some Blood for the Blood God around, which is something I haven't really done a lot in this army so far. My favourite detail is the shield bearing the heraldry of the Kingdom of the Broken Chains, though, as it's a bit ambiguous; is it a sign of the creature's loyalty to the Slave-Borne king, or is it merely a trophy from a previous battle?
And finally, here he is with his ethereal little friends:
That's all I have for now, the next update will probably focus on either the five Grave Guard or Skeleton Warriors, as they're the only models I have left to paint before the army is complete!

Glad you enjoy my work, Sgt_Smudge! I certainly enjoy working on these guys
Now, as I've stated in a previous post, I've been thinking about collecting a small Chaos army for AOS, and I've finally figured out which kits I'm going to pick up. To keep things on the small side, I decided to follow the Path to Glory warband creator-thingie in the General's Handbook. With a maximum of six units (as I'm using a Lord of Chaos), I figured: "What could possibly go wrong?"
I now have an army worth a 1000 points.
Feth.
So yeah, here's what the PtG warband consists of:
- 1 Lord of Chaos (the converted Slaughterpriest)
- 1 Sorcerer Lord
- 10 Gors
- 5 Chaos Knights
- 5 Hellstriders
-1 Gorebeast Chariot
Summoning:
- 10 Daemonettes
Originally, I was going to take Chaos Warriors rather than Chaos Knights, but since I already had the Chaos Knights (see my CSM thread), I finally decided to go with them instead. Equally conveniently, I already had a Chaos Sorcerer Lord, so I added it to the warband, as I can always use some magical support
There's one extra model added to the list above, though, as I'm going to convert the Charioteer from the Chariot kit into a Lord of Slaanesh (as you can see below).
In short, I've got my work cut out for me again
Here's a few pics of the WiP Chaos Knights and the Lord of Slaanesh:
This dude can also double as a Chaos Lord of Daemonic Mount, if necessary. He has the nifty Slaanesh-marked head from the Chariot kit, which is suitably creepy for a follower of the Dark Prince...
The most pimp bastard of all time, my very own Lord of Slaanesh He's got a MASSIVE cloak, which is going to be difficult as sin to paint, but it'll be worth it in the end (I hope). I've given him the hatchet-thing from the Knights kit, as the swords are a bit too plain for my taste
I've also done some more painting, more specifically some more Beastmen. I went for different skin colours for each one, mostly to challenge myself but also because it fits with the fluff I'm cobbling together
I had a ton of fun painting these, although figuring out how I was going to get the skintones right was a bit of a pain
So, there's that Not sure when I'm going to get more stuff painted, but I hope to get another update out soon

Yeah... PTG gives you massive armies for what its for. If I did one I would have to limit it to 3 units max to start with.

Thanks everyone
Now, I've got some more skeletons to show you, the five Grave Guard with great wight blades, also known as the King's bodyguards!
They've turned out rather nicely, in my opinion My favourite of the group is the Seneschal, who pretty much epitomises what I wanted from this army: badass skeletal undead who've come back to wreck face and take names.
Look upon me, mortals, and know there is a far greater punishment for failure than death. - Seneschal Sverge, Captain of the King's guard
And here they are with their liege, the Wight King:
With these guys finished, the army's nearly done as well; however, I recently fought a few battles in a small tournament and discovered to my dismay that my loyal undead are no match for the great evils that walk the Realms. I'm considering a few ways to expand my army, but I'll talk more about that later...
These guys are also the last ones built from the Grave Guard kits, and I couldn't resist snapping some pictures of the entire group together:
That's all I have for now, hope you guys enjoy!

It's been a while since I've updated this thread, and what better way to kick it back to life than sharing the recent spoils of wa- I mean, Christmas gifts I got my hands on recently?
My prayers to Nagash for reinforcements have clearly not gone unheeded, as I now have more Skeleton Warriors, Black Knights and even one of the dreaded Mortarchs to toy around with. As a little bonus, I received a Skaven Plagueclaw, which will be rid of the vermin filth that stains its construction and repurposed for the glory of the Slave-Born King!
I've also spent some time with the Chaos kits I bought myself a while ago, mostly trying to figure out what I was going to do with the two horses that came with the chariot (as I'm going to build it as a Gorebeast one). I still had some Hexwraith legs from my first Black knights kit as well, which I figured could be put to good use...
...and thus I built a Wight King/Vampire Lord on Nightmare! It's going to take some greenstuff and patience to perfect the model, but I really like how it looks at the moment. I'm still debating whether or not I should use the other horse's head, and if I should build a Necromancer on steed with the other horse... decisions, decisions!
