So i didn't have a lot of free time in the last months to work on my little monsters, but at least i'm almost finished with my master's thesis, so there's that.

Anyway, my girlfriend left town yesterday to visit the family and i had to sit the house. Of course i did the resposible thing and worked extra hard two things: eating a lot of unhealthy food and spend much more time on the hobby than i should. Good times.

I've started converting a Mauler Fiend of Khorne, giving the daemon engine a much more bestial appearance, removing the middle pair of limbs alltogether, giving it a new set of exhaust pipes, a longer tail and, of course, a new horned head - both parts have been converted from the Heldrake.

Both head and tail sections have been magnetized, and can be switched for other options. In my mind, the longer tail represents the lasher tendrils, while the ectoplasma cannnon head makes a good stand-in for a pair of magma cutters.

I also added these three huge glyphs of Khorne. They're pretty crude, but i consider that to be quite fitting for the blood god. For the biggest symbol on top of the beast i added a few skulls, which only adds to the impression, that this daemon engine is a living, breathing altar of khorne.

The Warpsmith behind this creature is a conversion of the classic Iron Warrior's Warsmith, mixed with a few bits and pieces from FW. Adding the mechandrites to this guy will be fun.

Work on the Mauler Fiend and its master is coming along nicely.

I've tried my hand at a small conversion for the deamon engine's base, hoping to give it a feeling of actually breaking through a wall. I'm not quite sure yet, if i should add some debris on the inside of the wall as well.

The Warpsmith was a fun kit bash so far. His mechandrites are mostly power cables from Dragon Forge mixed with some Dark Eldar bits. The Smith himself is mostly a mix of the old Iron Warrios Warsmith and the MKIV (or was it MKIII?) Tech Marine from Forge World, with a chest from the Death Guard 30k conversion kit and a head from the Iron Hands 30k conversion kit.

Very cool warpsmith ! The use of dark eldar as mechadendrite weapons is a good idea, fits the dark mech vibe !

Nothing much too add here, i put some paint on Maulerfiend and Warpsmith. Both are a joy to paint, but i can't seem to find much time to follow my passion these days. But then again, such is life.

The Fiend is a true beast on the battlefield and gave me lots of joy in these last few weeks, breaking down gun lines in pretty much every battle that it faced. There are still many details to finish and, of course, some blood spatter to add some special character to the whole model.

The warpsmith is still trying his best Doc Ock impression. Some people told me, that he looks too busy and that it's hard to really make out single details in the whirling mass of mechandrites. And that might be true, but then again, it's really what i aimed for. He really looks like his tentacles do most of his work for him!

And another look onto my work desk. I have to admit that due to the new edition, new codex and a lot of private things going on, i hardly get to paint stuff anymore. Thankfully, my local gaming group is not all that harsh about fielding unpainted models, but still. Every time i do it, i just can't help feeling somewhat dirty...

Anyway, here's an short outlook on my current batch of 'zerkers! I'm planning on fielding 20 of them on Thursday. All of them heavily converted.

Progress, progress. Not much to see here. Just more converted Berzerkers.

And a brand new Exalted Champion. The new Codex keeps me busy.

With the release of the Death Guard Codex i really feel all the more drawn to the followers of Khorne, at least for now. So my current goal is to finish up a big Unit of twenty 'zerkers, two HQs - the exalted champion and a dark dpostle, the maulerfiend, and two converted rhinos for some rhino rush highjinx.

I would like to thank you for the kind words.

I've managed to finish the first batch of World Eaters. First time trying a blood splatter effect. Also first time trying out pigmets. Pretty happy with how they came out.

Well, here we are, almost done with the Berzerkers - another four ready for the cupboard.

Add to that a Dark Apostle, guess i'll christen him the Slaughter Saint.

And the end of this particular project draws near! Only four more 'zerkers and an exalted champion left to go.

That dark apostle is terrifying, splattered as the berzerkers but the green sets him apart nicely !

'tis the season to be jolly and i certainly feel so. My current project ist (finally!) finished, and as another four Berzerkers join the ranks of their Brothers i can now field a full unit of 20 raving mad men.

Also finished are the characters, with the Exalted Champion leading the chosen of Khorne into glorious bloodshed.

While this project was very time consuming, it still made it possible for me to apply a range of new techniques and push my personal standard to a higher level. I've also finally finished my Master's Degree (yay) and started working at my new job. I'm very much looking forward towards spending a few hours in the man cave over the next few days and, of course, a new year and to many good news, regarding the hobby. In that sense i would like to wish all of you a merry christmas (or whatever you would like to call it) and a happy new year.

Great stuff! You're really bringing the chaos aesthetic to the next level. What are you using for those silver power cables?

Thanks a lot! I've been using Dragonforge's pewter power cables for a few years and i can only recommend them. They are cheap-ish, flexible and formable and all over easy to work with.

There was some slow progress in my off-duty hours, while the family was asleep...

This one is only a small conversion with a killa-kans drill bit. My idea being that this is a mosquito-like deamon, slowly changing the shape of the machine that it is bound to.

Bloat-Drone #2, the flesh here is pretty much done. I really like the bloated look here.

I wanted to give Bloat-Drone #3 a gaping maw of some sort. Still, not really happy with the shape of the fleshy parts of the drone, yet.

Bloat Drone #4 is a straight up conversion of Forgeworld's Blight-Drone. Only instead of guns it'll have an assortment of claws and maws as a way to symbolize the flesh mower.

And Drone #5 will be the all purpose model for this unit, with some magnets to take advantage of the full range of weapon options that come with the bloat drone kit.

Didn't have all that much hobby time in january, but here are the assembled Bloat Drones:

Still need to finish the bases, but that's really nothing to be concerned about. Then it's finally time to add primer and base layers!

Base layers were a pain to do because the design of the drones is a bit busy in places. But at least they'll do nicely on the battlefield, once they're finished.

At least i'm certain that i will enjoy the process of shading them a lot more.

Well, the drones are coming along nicely, but i just needed a break today. And since the wife was out of town and i had the house all to myself, i (once more) did the reasonable thing and build and pained a Blightbringer for my battle this evening.

It's a simple conversion, using some blight king and dark imperium pieces, also a head from the old mutation sprue and a csm plasma pistol.

Also tried my hand on a little OSL effect on his upper leg. It's subtle but i like it.

All in all a solid and fast job. Now it's back to the Bloat Drones for me.
