Thank you! The otters really are my favorite out of all of the pets so far. so simple but so neat and yes, cute.

Kurnost wrote:This is awesome man! I like pets for marines.
With your throwing dog scout, there's a scout arm that exxtends way out from the body (i think it's a pistol, scoped aiming or something...) anywho you could use that to make him hammer throw the pooch?? Just a thought.
Also if you need more throwing dogs I have quite a few

I might have that arm around somewhere! got to do some digging though, my system for organizing bits is... well it needs to start existing.

evildrcheese wrote:Perhaps get hold of a Blood Bowl throwing army and replace the ball with the Dog?

That would be some serious throwing arm action!

EDC

That would probably be the perfect thing!

brushcommando wrote:@EDC this is going from cute to animal abuse at an alarming rate...
Edit: But I suppose in the grim darkness of the 41st millinium there is no PETA...

At least the dog's expression is determined! he's all "yeah man, throw me. i thought you dudes knew no fear" and the space marine is all "yeah but there's no rule called 'and they shall know no guilt', is there?"

Sorry this is an empty post guys, i'm working on painting but it's going bad. I did find the giant rats though, maybe i'll get something made with one of them for the next real update.

Where did you get those bulldogs? they are from old Squats right? Ive been trying to get ahold of one for some time. Do you know of a source?

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

Those are Mantic Games throwing mastiffs and they come on the fantasy dwarf command sprue.

No problem. In fact, if you want one, I've a few spares myself. Just PM your address and I'll send one out for you. Same goes for you Turtles, if your supply runs short. I assume they are probably light enough I could put them in a standard mailing envelope?

As a note, as far as i can tell there's only one head option. They are still very fun to mess around with though.

Thanks for the offer and the name suggestions, brushcommando! Gotta do some thinking. About space goats.

Strange ideas i had: Ethereal Otters, Void Otters, Fists of Lutra (lutra being the scientific name for otter)

amazingturtles,

Mrs. Captain Brown approves of the animals and says that Void Otters is her pick. Just thought you should know.

Cheers,

+1 for Void Otters.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

There is already noticeable improvement in your painting since the start of the thread.

I don't like Void Otters, but they are a type of Weasel, so how about Void Weasels?

Or Void Hounds? Warp Dogs?

Or Emperor's Bulldogs? Imperial Mastiffs?

Though my guards may sleep and my ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

This is why i have trouble with names! I am thinking something otter related and void otters seems to be the most liked so... still thinking though.

Here is a blurry group shot of marines newly painted, painted years ago, and partly painted. some with pets and some tragically without. I still have a lot to do!

Spoiler:

Also a box of kleenex because my cold is lingering, lingering.

I'm glad to hear my work is improving, thank you Fifty!

That's a good idea and i've tested it and it seems to work but I haven't commited yet.

because here is a marine holding a toad. of battle.

ok, this is just a test too. I've got to scooch that toad back a bit.

Nice catch on the command squad, such a great little box.

I feel like the toads should be 'magical' and be something to do with Librarians...

Yeah, I'm having a lot of fun with all of the neat little things in there. Plus with some extra bits i got lying around, I think i might be able to make six guys out of it instead of five.

So here is my experimental test captain/commander/leader type guy. Lots of cleaning up to do on him

But I tried to pose him with the dog looking up to him in expectation and his shield arm shielding the otter. The head is probably from some chaos thing (heresy!) but i love it. I love it too much.

I love the pose you have for the dog there. I can't wait till you have it painted up. Might show it to my sister (who loves dogs like I love Space marines) to get her to finally paint some minis with me.

Thanks! I was really happy with how the dog's pose ended up too. It's got a lot of mobility for such a simple figure

And hey, go ahead and show her, i just played a game of kill team with my older sister:

i probably should have taken some better pictures instead of getting all "dramatic angle!" though

Excellent work on the captain, the posing works really well, and I think the head is from the SW, kit, so no Heresy. The 'wildman' look really works with the animal theme too, so bonus.

The dude holding told is looking good too, reminds me a sorcerer's apprentice type vibe.

Thank you so much everyone! Yeah, i love how wild and wind tossed that head looks, i couldn't pass up using it for someone important. It's good to know he's not (too) heretical.

I've got some painting to do, but to be frank... I'm getting a bit burned out on the marines for now. i get burned out too easy, but i know it just means i need to change things up for a bit.

This is not a substansive post, but just to say that there might be something very different the next time i put something up here. Or it might be a painted marine.
