I was watching the Roundtable with Team Covenant and the intentions of the design team seemed to mean well, but I do not know how vigilant of the competitive scene they actually are... Everyone seemed a little too hyped for Lightweight Frame when I would never pay for that. Though the idea that this is a weaker autothrusters meant for low-agility ships, even if it is only for TIEs, is interesting if anything. If it were for any small ships then I'd be tempted to slap it on Luke Skywalker.

Ever since I've seen Swarm Leader, I've been itching to try it out - this is my list for my Wed night game...

DARTH VADER Tie Advanced x1
--- TIE/x1 title
--- Swarm Leader
--- Stealth Device
--- Advanced Targeting Computer

YOUNGSTER Tie Fighter
--- Expose
--- Stealth Device

SCOURGE Tie Fighter
--- Outmanuever
--- Stealth Device

DARK CURSE Tie Fighter
--- Stealth Device

I'm going to have to double-check this list; I'm hoping Youngster's ability work with Darth (though I doubt it). If it doesn't I'm hoping it will give Scourge and Dark Curse some punch if I can't set up a shot with Vader. Dark Curse is around mostly to soak up enemy attacks and hopefully keep the pressure off of Scourge & Vader; I've always had good luck with him surviving until late game.

It never ends well

It does not. Also, Vader is not a great option for swarm leader, you don't have the action economy to make those dice hurt or any bonus to getting damage through. Where swarm leader is great is a ship like Vessery, where you get focus + target lock on a 5-6 dice attack. Without focus + TL stacks you're better off just killing them with your conventional ships.

The other problem with the list is the points invested in mediocre TIE fighters. Stealth devices on Youngster and Scourge are wasted points, and outmaneuver isn't much better. Expose is garbage without Howlrunner to give you dice modification, spending an action on expose isn't any better than spending an action to focus and saving another 4 points. And using expose means not having evade tokens to feed Vader, so that's even more points wasted. Cut all of this clutter from your TIE fighters and you can afford to bring an entire additional ship! Alternatively, you can replace the TIEs with a swarm of black squadron pilots and Howlrunner, all with crack shot.

I've always had good luck with him surviving until late game.

He will survive, but he won't kill anything. Dark Curse is annoying but has a near-zero chance of killing any of the popular endgame threats in a 1v1 match, so all you accomplish is dragging out the inevitable a bit. Eventually your opponent will roll enough hits to kill you without dice modification, and then you lose. BSPs with crack shot, on the other hand, just kill you the easy way.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Black squad (ps4) is going to be 20 pts with an ept
The scarif defender(ps3) is 18 pts no ept

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

Crack Shot Black Sq TIE is 15pts, like Mr P said piling further upgrades on these sorts of ships is just wasted points, my idea for a Swarm Leader list would be
something like 3 or 4 Crack Shot TIEs (Black Sq and maybe Howlrunner) and a defender, maybe Steele or Brath over Vessery as the base TIE dont have TL although
you could get fancy with FO Ties with the Tech that lets you bank Evades as the FO's do have TL to help Vessery but then you lose some PS and the Crack Shot

Yeah they are pretty much "cheaper" tie interceptors, and tie interceptors don't get any use as is

So I tried Vader with Swarm Leader, he did great damage when I used it. The only issue is that it requires so many moving parts and makes you pretty predictable. It was an interesting experiment, but not for me.

Well, my store had one Striker left, I bought it. The wings do in fact move. I didn't get a chance to use it today, but I should be using it next weekend, I will post up how they do.

I like the look, but can anyone oppose that it was unnecessary in the movie?

I completely agree. Cool but not needed. I am just happy to get a new Imperial expansion. I don't care for the First Order stuff and don't own any of it, just some upgrades I have traded for and bought.

I liked Rogue One more than I can admit in some circles ('coz I might like it more than some of the OG trilogy, have to rewatch) and my brother got me the core set for christmas AND the Strikers are dead sexy, so I'll have to get some of them down the line. Way down the line They're unavailable at my local store, my internet stores *and* in my brother's city, anyway.

I need a big brother to watch over them, though.

This would do nicely.

Any idea on the kit that donated the wings?

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

Most probably one of the tie interceptor snapfit kits.
