I guess consensus is the wrong word then. It seems that enough disagreement exists, that there is no consensus, but rather several opinions that I see recurring quite often. I suppose I'm also wrong to assume that these opinions are necessarily contradictory. It didn't occur to me that Fantasy fans would have been fine with plot progression, had it not been so extreme. As for the rules: it seems to me, that opinion is divided as to whether the core rules themselves are a mess, but would I be correct in suggesting that the issue of codices being an unbalanced mess is a consensus? I don't think I've heard anyone defend the overall balance of those.

Yeah I don't think anyone would argue that codex balance is awful.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

I cannot speak for the community as a whole, but some of the things I want are:
-Lower prices.
The price GW demands for its rather average miniatures is tantamount to extortion. To give you a rough Idea I run Imperial Guard and I do so with only one tank. To finish my army I will need (among other things) at least six new tanks. Six plastic Leman Russ at £30+ each. That is £180 for six rather low quality, clunky, plastic kits. On the other hand Warlords demand, at the most, £25 for their largest hand-cast resin and white metal tank, and said tank can quite easily pass for a display model. And the hold frequent sales.
Infantry wise GW demand around £20 for ten rather sub par Cadian's with only two out of the potential 10 (not including sergeants pistol and CCW options) weapon upgrades available to the unit. Warlords demand £26 for 30 good quality German Grenadiers, whom come with all the weapon upgrades available to them, parts to make officers and other units, plus a few extra bits and detailing parts as well.
There is no contest. Until GW can reduce the obscene prices on their models to something that closer resembles reasonable, or even sane, my poor Guard will remain unfinished.
-Better, tighter, rules
GW's rules are a mess. Special rules everywhere, odd names, weird abilities and loopholes/grey zones that are so large you could park a Warlord Titan in them. There is no semblance of balance between different unit types, and many rules are open to interpretation. Compare this to, say, Infinity or Warmachine where the rules are good, tight and relatively balanced.
-Balance out the codexs
Seriously, its a fething mess. Eldar rape everything they face, Tau shoot everything off the board, Space Marines just marysue their way through everything and Knight households do battle with 1K armies. Fire the codex writers and get some new people in.
-Get rid of Age of Sigmar
This filth was nothing but a dumbed down middle finger to all the dedicated Fantasy players out there. Perhaps if GW had not charged £1.50 average per basic infantry figure people would have been more inclined to play a game that required 200+ figures a side for a none-horde army.

I've already ranted about prices, but I think that the codexes should just be rules. with the lore they could put it up for free or sell it as a different book. if the codexes just have the rules then first, the books would be cheaper, second it would be easier to find the actual rules in the first place! as it stands the codexes are like 10 pages of random lore, and then a rule to be mentioned there and some place at the end.
oh and please dumb down the psyker phase... just a tad...

Yes, make psychic powers less game dominating.

Just remember, unhappy opinions will always be the loudest on the internet. Don't let it jade your opinion on things you love.

They tried that in 3rd edition. It was almost universally hated.

Charge for the lore, make the rules free.
