It's just down to personal preference, so whatever you are comfortable with. Driving far enough may negate any savings on cheaper product though.

My gaming groups are both about 30 mins away, and my FLGS's are about 20 mins drive (from home) or 15 mins walk (from work). I don't mind either, and view 30 mins as about normal (takes me 60 to get to work).

I tend to go to local gaming shows within about a 2 hour drive as well, but that's once or twice a year.

In my head, this is how all people travel in japan.

Is this accurate? Just say yes. I'm old and have no room in my head for new ideas without losing something...

My local store is 10-15 minutes depending on traffic, the nearest FLGS is about 25-30 minutes away through town out to the other side.

If the guys I game with at the local store weren't awesome, I would probably just guit gaming.

No GW stores in country. Nearest LGS is ~30 mins by bus, maybe 10-15 mins by car. And I'm usually pretty lazy to go down there

That is only during rush hour, if you go just 10 minutes after or before peak hour it is less crowded

I have 10 stores within 30 miles of me and while it may seem like I'm spoiled for choice... not a single one of them actively supports Warhammer 40K or AoS - it's incredibly depressing.

You could always try and kick start a community. That's what non-GW gamers need to do most of the time. We had no Malifaux scene two years ago, and no Infinity scene a year ago. We ran slow grow leagues for both, and have a pretty great mixed community now.

My FLGS is a 20-30 minute drive, depending on the traffic. I have a friend who comes from further, usually 45 minutes to an hour away again, depending on traffic.

I've got 2 stores in my hometown. One of them is in walking distance from my apartment (barely). The other is across town. If I had a car, I would go to the one across town for most of my purchases, as their 40k selection and prices are better. Unfortunately, I don't, so I have to go to the one I can walk to. At least the staff are friendly and helpful at both!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I was wondering, there's a non-GW LGS about 30 minutes from where I live. IDK if that's a good thing, as 30 min is a good bit of drive time. How far do you guys think is too far for a Game store?

Hey lucky you. For me it's like hour if I were to go to FLGS. Not particularly L...

15 minutes, but it's a store I don't frequent because they charge over MSRP for most items in stock. So...screw 'em.

There used to be one in Nakano in Tokyo, that may be closer for you if it's still around

I always assumed you played with a few IRL friends since you're basically one of the rare dozen users on Dakka from that area of the world

I live in D/FW, there's around 4 Games Workshop locations within 30 kilometers of me, and a dozen or so LFGS within 50km.

I did, but they left last summer. So now I just play with myself all night.

Nearest LGS with free tables and a 20% discount is 15 minutes away. Free Parking.

GW is 20 minutes away, along with 2 model shops that stock GW, Vallejo, etc.

Theres another LGS with tables 25 minutes away, but parking is a pain.

Another brilliant model shop 30 minutes away.

Wargames Foundry is 40 minutes away.

Warhammer World is an hour away.

There's one about 30 minutes away and has a decent discount and is quite busy. There's another one that is farther away and a lot of their stuff is over MSRP, so I don't go there that much. There's a small GW store about an hour away, and I usually go there to get stuff that isn't available in the FLGS.

30 minute drive to either of two game stores (one in either direction, Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids). Only one of them carries GW, PP, or Reaper miniatures (and a bare minimum at that) the other only goes as far as FFG minis games. Neither hosts any tables or leagues or anything. I buy from the Warstore or MiniaturesMarket.

Nearest GW has got to be at least 4-1/2 hours from the west side of Michigan to the East side in Detroit. Not likely. It's almost faster to drive to Chicago.

If you're guaranteed a good game, anything around an hour.
Drop-in and hope, 30 minutes.
There's a couple of GWs 30 minutes or so away, with parking to be paid for. I don't play in stores, though.
Non-GW FLGSs are more like 45 minutes or more away (plus parking).
Weekly club is 15. This is almost all I ever go to.
WHW is an hour+, and for occasional group games.

Just looked it up. Turns out there's a "Warhammer" store in Harajuku.

In that case, my nearest official GW store is about 4-4.5 hours away. Yay!

Under a pile of plastic and boxes.

I have 1 good and 1 great independent game store within 45 min of home. The good but not great one being 10 min from work.

I have a great (no, honestly) GW official store about 40 min from home.

And 1 fantastic model shop that carries some GW but all of the paints/tools/hard to find stuff you could ever hope for, about 35 min away.

I'm spoiled for choice, just wish they were all a bit closer.
