Power Elephant, you may just have discovered my occult technique of Warp Spawn creation... these are not post-humans turned into tentacle beings... but Pokemon. Please don't tell either Nintendo or Games Workshop of my unorthodox approach.

@ Yorkright: I am glad you think of the WIP warband as Grimdark already. Surely a sign things are heading in the right direction!

NOW! There are some updates! Oh yes.
Without further mumbling I present to you a squadron of Khorne-alligned power armoured brutes. They may appear to be Khorne Berzerkers, but in game terms count as MOK CSM (hence the meltagun per squad). Fluffwise they are partially ex-World Eaters who have resigned their legionary path and have gone their own ways, with parts of other legionaries or by themselves. They are now in this yet-unnamed warband because theyre equally fed up with legion and imperial affairs and would rather make their own realm of residence...
Damn, there was mumbling.. now for pictures:

I will build a light box in due time.. hopefully these rather dodgy images suffice for now. Maybe it's also the camera "quality" which is cooking around the proverbial stew..

Also in the lines of pipe we've got some Havocs, based on the classic Fantasy Chaos Warriors. The squadron will take four autocannons, based on a simple heavy bolter and gargoyle head conversion. However, I am not sure if I like the ammo strings. I think I would rather have a drum-style magazine, but am unsure of what to make them of.. if anyone's got an idea please post it here!

P.S. If anyone also has an idea for an icon for these warriors... I think the name of the warband is "The Crimson Brotherhood" but I cannot for the life of me think of an icon for their shoulder pads... tricky indeed..

Ahoy! I have returned from the aether! It took but a journey through Iceland and a bike adventure from Norway to Italy to work in the Chaotic Forge again, and oh boy was it a fine endeavour with much inspiration picked along the long winding road!

Without further ado: Some lightbox WIP shots of the Havoc squad Bjaerni. Brightness and contrast are also WIP.

Very cool caped havocs, and loving the round heavy bolter barrels.

Thank you Kernel! Grand to hear from you, your Warp Wanderers' thread is a great inspiration to me!
The barrel is from Leman Russ tank wheels... really works well for these autocannons I reckon!

Ahoy ye interstellar landlubbers! The marauding havocs have been completed. I also worked out that overcast yet bright days are quite ideal for light box ambience and quite crisp photos! Learning more all the toime.

Now, here be some grimy marauders, scouting the wastelands for loot and life. I am thinking to add writing on their armour and/or some symbols on shoulder pads perhaps.. we shall see!

Any ideas/comments/fun welcome!

Great looking traitors, love the cohesive grimy (hehe just noticed you've used that exact word) look to them all, really evokes the art. The chaos brand on the Prince's chest wins the painting award from me, the blending looks fab!

Can we perchance see a couple more pics of the 'russ? I think i really love it but i'm not sure.

Thank you Perk for your kind words! The Daemon prince was not painted by me for the most part, however. It was a second-hand model which I have also since sold again... a very crash-and-burn, Khornate creature he was indeed!
More photos of the Leman Russ shall be incoming once I visit its current field of battle.

All shall be drowned in shells, Kernel... Shells of pasta!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ahoy! Here is the Rhino these havocs have claimed their own, about 95% completed, will just require a tad more work on the back hatch around the eye of horus and some writing on its sides perhaps.. the turret weaponry is in the mekshop currently...

Also exposed to the magick of the lightbox were a squad of CSM marauders.. the championwith the power sword was my first attempt at some OSL.. fine for now, and more to learn in the furture! The champion's right hand man wields a warhammer of a long dead ancestor.....

Along comes lastly the steed to be ridden by the Lord of this warparty... stacked on cork and with some skull and spikes! There may well be noxious mud coating the ground around his legs in the future... As always, please leave any comments or ideas of any sort here for communal digestion! Until next time!

The rhino/turret-carrying chassis fun box is done! Did some lengthy weathering to get it extra grimy and aged.. like a fine ale!
Not pictured are the storm bolter and Havoc launcher, which can be added as well as this (what would have counted in the old edition as) dirge caster.

Now with eyeballs!

This moves us from the grimy Havoc squad to the blue-tacked eminence of Lord Grindavik.

I cut his legs apart to mount him upon the juggernaut and so far so good.. may add more bits such as hooks and spikes to him and build a saddle... any ideas for additions and/or swaps?

Ahoy! Some updates be here! A couple of grimey mercenaries and devotees of the Gods have gathered in my lightbox...

These are some of the new hands on deck in Grindavik's crusade of the Soul!
