I'm not familiar with Czech beer, apart from Pilsner Urquell, which is I quite like but I only find it from time to time.

What do the Czech people think of Pilsner Urquell? In Canada our most famous beer internationally is Molson Canadian, which is a shame as it is not great and is only really good for the purpose of getting drunk.

We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".

@feeder IIRC Pilsner urquell is an export brand. Its not very popular here. Never had it, sorry, I can't say more.

@Vaktathi

Honestly all I know about the Czechs is military history and firearms. They build really weird but very nice quality stuff from everything I've ever held.

Our military history isn't very rich. We have been occupied most of the time last 300 years. Only time we have been a nation to be reckoned with was in the medieval ear, where Kingdom of Bohemia was a major player in Europe, and in 1920s to 30s, before western powers betrayed us and gave us as a bait to Hitler. And the Soviets finally nailed it by 40 year long period of occupation, along with typical Soviet regressiveness. (Belive or not, when Colorado potato beetle infested our farms, goverment said it was work of western imperialists in order to destroy our advanced potato growing techniques. It was in 1970s)
But as far as I know, our modern military is well respected among other NATO members and during trainings and operations they usually have one of the best results, despite still using alot of old, soviet era stuff, and/or often being undermanned and underequiped (Some soldiers buy their gear in military shops, because army storages are just empty). But our army is slowely being modernised. Slowely...

What kind of weird stuff do you exactly mean?

Also do you guys have a lot of lefties or something? Everything I've ever held made by you guys seems to be ambidextrous.

If you mean left-handed people, I don't think so. If you mean left-wing people, then yes. You wouldn't belive how many people still vote for communists, even after what they have done (and still do) to the world...
Now seriously, it's matter of practicality.

I own a CZ 82 and love it, after looking into more Czech firearms I started to realize that nearly everything I looked at was very ambidextrous, usually more so than most contemporaries. That's what I meant by "lefties", people who are left handed It seems odd that they would put more effort into it than most countries with larger militaries but maybe that's because they can't afford to make lefty versions of their guns.

I want one of the original style scorpions (or as most people my age lovingly refer to it as, the Klobb) but $900 for a semi auto one is really steep, and all the unofficial clones suck. I've been looking at all their different 9mm Luger designs as well and it's kind of hard to decide, especially because no one around here carries them. It's annoying, I really want to hold them before I decide, but all the redneck gunstores around here carry are glocks and S&W (whose triggers are often terrible) I don't know if I've got a bit of Czech in me or something but of the few Czech firearms I've ever held they always felt nice in the hand and like a fair deal of craftsmanship was put into them.

I also have an Czech surplus coat in the mail, just for a cheap jacket to wear to the range, no idea if it'll be any good or not. If it's anything like the rest of the czech things I've seen though, it'll have a bunch of features that seem really odd at first but turn out to be very handy

No but I do want to go to your neighbor Slovakia.

Both my grand parents came from Slovakia as kids. Interersting story: at the end of WW2 my uncle was in charge of some prisoners in that area. One of them got talking and said he was related to my uncle. Of course there were bad stories of US GIs going off with the locals and bad things happened. So when he asked to be let go or such, my uncle thought it was just lies.

When he returned to the states and told his folks....sounds like the guy was telling the truth from some of the names he had spoken about! What are the coincidences!!

Anyways I wanted to take my dad over there, but he is getting pretty old for that! So I may come over some year.

I hear the trains leave 10 min early to the times posted ! haha

any advice if I go to Slovakia?

oh and Czech porn models are the hottest in the world )))))))))))))))))))))))

Interesting story!
Pity that your father doesn't want to go. Slovakia is beautiful country, specially the High Tatra mountains. i've been there last year.

10 minutes ahead? No, that's the previous train departing late.

Any advice? Good shoes if you go hiking and keep an eye on your belongings. Lots of gypsies there. (depends where you go, but the tourist areas are usually safe)

Ah, yes, porn models. I'm getting a feel that most people know about my country just from pages with naughty content. But TBH, I'm hearing quite frequently that czech girls are somewhat more beautiful than from other countries.

Which one's your favourite? For scientific reasons.
