Not the same list at every top 10 amiright?

I just want to bring the stuff I want! This whole "rewarding" people for themed armies scares me. Maybe some people don't want to theme an army and they want Ultramarine soldiers fighting alongside their blood angels without being punished for it. Or hell! Even if you use the same chapter! As a DA player I play them because I enjoy painting their colour scheme (the green, red and white). Maybe I don't want a bunch of bikes and terminators! Maybe I want to be tanky and bring heavy units! Why should I be punished for wanting that? As for the themed armies... isn't having a good looking organised army rewarding enough for some players?

I think the idea is that certain "fluffy" armies would have inherent disadvantages against an army that is more well-rounded or built with optimal use of points cost in mind, so Command Points help the less optimal lists stay more competitive.

Hopes:
-Good fun game that folk whom are new can get into the hobby and those whom are old in the hobby enjoy.
-Cheaper prices that are still competitive but not bank breaking.
-Faith renewed in GW.
-Plastic Sisters of Battle
-More plastic variety for IG and other armies that do need it.

Fears:
-Major imbalance
-Prices remain still high, turning folk off from 40k (10 IG Cadians are $28. 40 Bolt Action model Soviets plus command and special weapons are about $50).
-The community continues calling it AOS 40k
-No Plastic Sisters of Battle (Simple Heresy right there)

They got you covered, dog! Open play is totally open.

If you're needing to be battle forged for whatever reason, from the Q&A there seem to be a variety of generic force organization charts to take advantage of. The narrative so far seems to be focused on wanting players to be able to play however they like and with what they like within the current rules. I hear your concerns that the formation bonuses and such might remain, but I think with the dialogue around the subject so far, we can be at least somewhat hopeful.

Hopes:

1- Referencing a unit in a formation won't require me to flip through 3 different books. And even if I have to reference it ONE book, I don't want to flip through three different sections.

2- Distinctive rules in the streamlined books for Chapters, Legions, Regiments, etc. so that it's not completely generic "Space Marines" or "Chaos Space Marines".

3- Chaos actually being worth something WITHOUT taking Black Legion formations or allying with Demons.

4- A fundamental shortage of cheese.

5- Fun.

Fears:

1- All models being usable but not all models being useful.

2- New rules that require me to break apart/remodel my existing models to make them viable.

3- Tanks not getting spammed with weak gunfire and getting destroyed because of the sheer volume of dice.

4- Chapters/Legions/Regiments being made generic.

5- "Sold out"

Sold Out can be either a good thing or a bad thing when I think about it.

They reveal that this was all an elaborate April Fool's joke. Of all the things announced, like, 2 of them have any appeal to me, and 90% sound like steps straight backwards.

Fears:
That everything they've officially announced is true.

lemme guess, Tau or Eldar player?

Joking aside, just play 7th still with your mates, they are not forcing you to burn all of your books.

Hopes:

The wailing and weeping of Eldar and Tau players.
The wailing and weeping of people who spam grav and psykers.

Fears:

That eldar, tau, grav and psykers remain as, or become even more, OP as they are now.

Hope that every faciton is equally balanced.

Fear that Tau and possibly Eldar will be overnerfed while the space marine stuff that is really breaking the tournament meta will go untouched.
