I think there was a middling decent idea of a story but it kind of got lost amongst all the Shyamalanism, also notable for being the last film where I could tolerate Ms Howard

I really liked Unbreakable. I thought it was a fantastic movie. His other movies? Eh. Signs and Sixth Sense were okay. The only thing I have seen after that was Avatar. I was kind of hoping he would never make another movie.

So Split is actually really quite good. The acting is pretty superb all round and the pacing is good. Despite it being an M. Night film the only real twist is
Spoiler:
It's Unbreakable 2!

If I had a complaint about the film it would be the seemingly rushed ending and
Spoiler:
it really, really sets the stage for Split 2: The Beast is Back!

The twist has no bearing on the film and is only really noticeable to hardcore fans. (my friend who loaned me the DVD is a hardcore fan)

Ok for Split I heard it was a little...gross. Is that correct?

Additionally I kind of would like to watch it, however how would this go for someone who had to deal wit ha stalker for a few years? I am a fragile flower and wouldn't want to be triggered and take out the neighbor's trash can (just the neighbor heh heh).

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

No I dont remember it being gross. I asked my wife she said the same thing. If its gross I simply dont remember it. Also I guess that would depend on your idea of gross

It is extremely well acted and deals with some very upsetting subjects but is not graphic in it's depiction. During the flashback scenes I certainly got a serious case of the creepy crawlies.

Stalking is not one of the subjects. Abduction is.

It also involves themes of pedophilia, child abuse, and incest.

As to overt gore, there isn't much. Overall, it is more of a psychological/tension movie.

It has a fairly long run time, like most MKS movies, and the same slow pacing. I am utterly baffled by why people liked it so much as the premise is absurd, even accounting for the late "twist", the character development is laborious and not done at all for the secondary characters, and it relies on a lot on some pretty tired tropes and clichés. Had this movie been released in 1990, it might be impressive. In 2017, not so much. But I may be jaded as I have seen the original movies it so roughly borrows from (notably Psycho).

McAvoy is definitely the highlight of the movie, though, and his acting is pretty much the motor of the film.

I wouldnt agree with him being the only thing that drives the movie, personal opinions and all, but I will agree that he acted his ass off in the movie. There were times his personalities flip flop and you can easily tell which one is which.

Well managed to watch about ten minutes of split. did not know about it being about high school girls. got to where they woke up in the room. when he grabbed one I had a flash of one of GC's friends and almost shot the TV. too real! have to only watch supernatural or alien movies I guess that are not plausible.
