Yes, the game starts in 1985. IIRC though BF has said that they intend to advance the time line at some point in the future, to be able to include newer equipment.
Which I mentioned in my posts both before (heavily implied) and after (explicitly stated) the post of mine that you quoted.
Sorry I didn't memorize the entire thread and triple check every one of your contributions before commenting. I'll try to do better next time, sir!

i am kinda digging the TY mini rulebook, I have a Ammo box that i keep my gaming aides in. Dice tins, rulebooks etc. and it fits perfectly.
But it does help give the cards justice, since the mini rulebooks dont have any lists in them.
I wonder if we wont see a 2.0 rulebook since REdbear has all of the soviet lists in it..Afgansty and the rulebook formations.
It has given me, what to expect from the Stripes book in the future,Instead of it just being dedicated to Armor CAv.

Some nice new toys, but I do wonder if the rules for aircraft will be changed at some point, seems now they are expensive, unreliable, largely ineffective and now facing a whole slew of ways to shoot them down..
The anti tank missile carrier looks interesting, especially for games on larger tables.
Issue is I have a 100 point list, plus plenty more already, not sure I actually need much more, nice looking as this stuff may be.
Just wish we were getting more infantry options, mortars, towed guns etc

Don't let the number and introdate fool you, the T-64 was designed as a replacement for the T-10s in Soviet heavy tank divisions with the best technology the USSR had. The T-72 used the lessons learned during the T-64's development to create a cheap successor to the T-55/62 in the regular motor-rifle and tank divisions.

Yup. The T-64 and T-72 were basically diverging paths in Soviet tank development. This continued on with the later Soviet/Russian tanks. The T-80 was based off of the T-64, and the T-90 was based off of the T-72.

Looks like Volksarmee on steroids. The only thing the East Germans have over this is the ability to mix their tanks within their tank battalions. The Russians can work around this anyway using the divisional support slot and the optional slot in the motor rifle battalions.
