Tactical_Spam, I have give you a Exalt!

And Oldravenman, I'll lie if I negate the influence in that idea/miniature to make my own 40k Jeanne D'arc But the mini is a little to small to be a good stand-as Custodes.

And I know, I know, a SoB Saint can be more aproppiate, but I want her to be less... you know. Magic and flying.

Yes.

And I'm not gonna negate anything that people has said here, but personally I have 0 problems to apply my suspension of diesbelief in the strenght advantage of a male vs a female in a universe where you can destroy a Imperial Knight with a Hammer. Rule of Cool all the way!

Well, in that cause, due to them being individually made rather than mass produced, there's no reason Uncle Emps couldn't have made a female custodian.

There's a very slim argument to be made (and it is slim, even if many people cling to it for dear life) that Space Marines, being mass produced, work off of a template that for some vaguely defined reason excludes females.

But that argument doesn't apply to custodians if they're all individually modified.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I'm starting to think the reason that everyone in 40k is male is because everyone took a good look at Blanche's artwork for the SoB and said "Please don't do that again"

Thinking about it, can you blame them?

That "famous piece if artwork" that inspired a new model and hero for the Sisterhood last year is all that is wrong with the 90s art style in a nutshell.

Atrocious haircut: check

Ridiculous posing: check

Weird coloring that doesn't fully match: check

Improbable shoes: check

Strange and impossible body proportion: check

It's a shame because there is awesome Sister of Battle artwork out there.

Yup, and even if some bit of fluff turns up saying that all Custodes are male The Emperor had so many secret projects going that it doesn't seem that far fetched for there to be some female Custodes running around somewhere.

In some versions of the fluff The Emperor has been around for a really long time, but only decided to take over during the Age of Strife. Maybe he was there when they burned Joan of Arc, and he saved some piece of unburned bone for future projects? It seems like the kind of creepy mad scientist/witch doctor thing that Buffy the Space Fuhrer would do.

I have imagined the Emperor in a secret golden lab surrounded by dozens of re-creations of important humans of history to use as entertainment tools.

New headcanon right here. The poor immortal buggers have been trapped in a room for the last 10,000 years, playing a little game called 'Civ'.

Yep. Every one is custom unlike marines. They are a rolls Royce tp a Mercedes. Ones still nice but it is not quite the Rolls.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I might just be weird, but I actually really like the John Blanche art with the Canoness. I like a lot of John Blanche's art, not in spite of its weirdness in terms of scale and proportions, but because of the weirdness. It reminds me a little of some old religious paintings, where the artists would do things like make the more important people way bigger than the less important people.

I've always kind of thought of the John Blanche art as more of what an artist in the 40k universe might paint, rather than an exact duplication of what his subjects would actually look like (if they existed).

Don't get me wrong, I like the artwork for the Sisters that is a little more on the reasonable and realistic side and am not as big of a fan of them running around in bondage gear rather than power armor. I just have a soft spot for that John Blanche picture.

Don't feel bad for liking it, I am sure happy that at least person does. I would hate the artist whome everybody hates the work.

Personaly, this picture looks like a cover for a cheezy early 90's Power Metal band.

The absence of evidence is not evidence - of anything. The most convincing argument possible (on the grounds that some evidence for the conclusion is better than none and that there is no evidence to the contrary) is inductive: all known Custodes are male, therefore Custodes are likely to all be male. If the real question is, is there any canonical statement that Custodes cannot be female then the answer appears to be No.

Most stuff in 40k seems reminiscent of cheesy heavy metal, and that's one of the things I like about the universe.
