My first question is, how much will all of this cost?
I'm not happy that the actual 280 page rule book is bundled up in the starter set. It should've been a small, thin and efficient rulebook-lite like the past editions. Now they have good reason to drive up the starter set price.

I think this starter set will be more than $200 AUD, (Dark Vengeance is only 165 AUD on the website), and I got Assult on Black Reach for 150 AUD.

The rulebook alone might be easily $80 AUD +, I do not want to pay for that in the starter set.

Thoughts?

$220 AUD for this starer set is a load of crap for me.
Don't get me wrong about this actual starter set. I love the models and I think they alone would warrant paying that kinda money. But now I know that at least 50 of that is going to that rulebook, bringing the starter set down to 170. I'd really rather pay for the 280 rulebook separately, now I gotta waste cash on something I don't need.

I honestly think GW is going for another cash grab. They know customers are going to have to buy this anyway, and they're milking every last drop out of us.

Interesting, the Dark Imperium starter set is only 125€, 190 AUD. That's honestly quite cheap imo. The 280 page rulebook is 45€ (68 AUD), meaning that the actual starter set is only 85€, $122 AUD. That is surprisingly cheap for a starter set, now I'm wondering how well made the sprues and everything are.

Either way, customers are still potentially saving up to 60 AUD if GW opted for a rulebook-lite version in the starter set. I do recognise that they're giving us a good deal, a lot cheap than my first estimations, they still forcing onto customers a product we might not want.

Yeah, I saw the warhammer community post about that, very glad about that. I always liked where FW took the game.

Renegades and Heretics, and the Ork units they introduced were things I heavily based my armies on. I was very concerned about the fate of those units, I'm glad they eased my anxiety. GW did a good job on that front, wish they did a good job on all fronts though.

What they should have done is included the rules for FW models in the base index/codexs. This having to purchase multiple books to play a single army is nonsense. This was a prime chance to fix that.

not unless forge world started being carried in local GW stores, which according to my local GW manager would be a logistical problem because FW would proably not be able to keep up with demand.

I also agree. FW was always a seperate entity from GW, they might have been owned by the same people, but they were very distinct and seperate groups.
As much as I would've preferred it all being in the xeno book, all the content they would put for the orks alone originating from the FW book would mean a 3rd xeno book. Having an Imperial Armour about orks is much the same as a 3rd xeno book, or a very big ork codex to me.

Sure, but Nids is the malanthrope, a new type of spore mine, 2 heirodules, and a bio titan. Necrons get 2 maybe 3 characters, a vehicle, and some pylons.

How big of a book is that going to be?
