What is the recipe for such a rich red you got on your blood angels?

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against it. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the end comes.

Looks awesome, you've definitely given me some ideas for my BA primaris (I got the box last night and haven't really started thinking about them too much yet, need to get my Death Company done first).

I like them with old helmets much better than the new ones. The new ones just look odd to me.

The Ancient's banner is superb. I like the judicious use of transfers in key areas.

Sprayed Black, then Khorne red from an upped angel.
After that some Mephiston red, bolt gun metal and dark grey.
Nuln Oil wash.
Repeat Mephiston red, bolt gun metal and dark grey.
Edge hughlights in white.

Done!

It's a stunning model. You've done a great job.

I think the new mold looks markedly more to scale when placed near other models as you've done. I like the new weapon design as well.

IMHO, I think GW would have done better to just market these new casts as a complete re-design of the Space Marine lineup. I understand that not everyone is able or willing to repurchase all their models but I would happily buy a few new 10-man squads of these fellows if they came with all the wargear options to be true replacements for my current tactical squads.
...

My 1st game was fun today, it is still 40K, but way more streamline than the previous two Editions.
Move values, Saves modifiers - all back and it feels good.
I also like the freedom you have to chose your force, even in matched Play.

Glad to hear that your first game left a good impression. Need to try it myself. Also I LOVE the standard bearer (no one else but you is crazy enough to do those edge highlights in pure white !).

4th Primaris, Hellblaster Brother Sergeant Gabriel. Another minor conversion. Again a head swap (Mk IV BA), extra grenades and modified backpack (actually a Death Company BP with the exhaust vents of a Primaris).

And the growing force:

Next is a Blood Angel Captain conversion.

Just Citadel Macragge Blue, then blue Citadel shade, Macragge Blue again with more and more white mixed in.

Hi again folks.
Thanks for all the nice comments, here comes the next mini. Took me a bot longer, but I hope you agree it was worth the extra time and effort.

5th Primaris, Brother Captain Victus. Another conversion.
Again a head swap (BA Tactical Sergeant), sword from a Sanguinary Guard, extra purity seal at wrist,
BA wing on left shoulder pad and the banner. I am happy how the conversion fits together.

And a group shot:

That looks seriously good! I don't even mind the helmet hood. Make more sense with a helmetless head instead I guess.
The sword swap is particularly thematic. Great conversion.
How do the normal space marine hands and arms compare to the primaris marines increased scale? It doesn't look too obvious as to any difference in the images.

hands and arms are slightly smaller, but as you can see - it works!

Truly gorgeous work, particularly your blues for the helmet and the faces/hair My first foray into painting was Blood Angels, and now, many years down the road you're really making me consider digging for my extra blood drop-detailed accessories and giving our boys in red a go again... maybe if I do I'll finally have a use for that 3rd party Sanginious I can't seem to get rid of

6th Primaris, Inceptor Brother Sergeant Angelus. Another conversion.
Again a head swap (BA Sanguinary Guard), wings from a Sanguinary Guard, grenade and pouch with blood droplet and BA icon on top of the “hood”.
The hood was also a bit shortened to reduce the cover over the head, basically just to make the Mk VII head more visible.

I am very happy how this all came together.

And just to show how big these fellas are:

HH World Eater, Primaris Inceptor and HH Emperors Children

And a different angle:

More pics as always: http://www.adpublishing.de/html/primaris.html

PS: Positioning of the wings - I put some serious thought in this...

1st off I have to agree, it looks a bit strange.
Then I looked very seriously how the Sanguinary Guard wings are mounted:

After that I put the wings into the same position and rotated them 90° upward.

And that's how it looks then. Every other position was even more awkward...

Absolutely amazing. I am so stealing a bunch of these ideas. My only reservation is that the angle of the wings looks very strange indeed.

That captain is a real showpiece! Love him. And now I may have a use for those S. Guard wings I have laying around... Not sold on the angle, but they do add a really nice detail to the model. Keep up the inspirational work!

Great paint job, but them wings, still look awkward but if that's the best look, you might look for some other wings.

I like the wings like that too!
And there is even a slight hint at old biblical descriptions of angels having one set of wings just to cover their divine faces.
(edit: I imagine the wing being able to fold and hide the face, and folding back to reveal the angels terrible fury as he charge.)

I was also happy about the BoW feauture about my Primaris:
http://www.beastsofwar.com/community-spotlight/blood-angels-norman-warlords-saintly-warrior/

Anyway here is the next Intercessor Primaris:

Again only a very minor conversion. I only used MkVII exhaust vents with BA droplets, the droplets were arranged to enhance the dynamic, forward feel of the skirmishing mini.

And as always more on my site:
