Battletech is good...you just need to find 3D printed models and skip the overpriced garbage that is the entire Iron Wind Metals range and their awful plastics. I have 80 of them painted, but man, what a piss poor collection of minis. :(

I know they aren't the greatest sculpts, but they are what they are for about a 5 man operation for the modeling. The pewter models also make me feel a bit nostalgic, and I like the heft.

You could try Runewars... it's not for me, but a lot of people seem to like it.

Generally speaking if it's not just models but a new game you're looking for just build 2 sides, and entice other people to play. You'll find real quick how fast some people will jump into a new game if it's different and fun.

Of course some people like a new thing and others don't. Example some folks only like sci-fi, others only like fantasy. Some hate steampunk anything.

That said GW has some of the best models in the Biz so if you've run out of models that interest you there...you might just be hard up finding another game systems models that suit you.

Personally though the new Hordes Grymkin has me foaming at the mouth for some of those models.

Get a model railway, say 7mm/O gauge, lots of kits there for your existing skills and you get to meet such interesting people.

Plus you will learn never to complain about what GW charges, and indeed will come to view the larger FW kits as very reasonably priced...

You will also be the envy of all who see the gaming table you will make when you come back...

On a slightly more serious not, consider something like Sharp Practice, Napoleonic uniforms are amazing as long as you don't have to actually paint all that many, plus they are decently cheap in plastic and not that bad in metal given you don't need that many

The wonderful thing about wargaming is that there are so many different styles of game. You might have got tired of the GW aesthetic, of grim-dark sci-fi and shoulder pads. If so there are so many different routes open - historicals, weird fantasy of Malifaux, a more 'hard' sci-fi/anime style of Infinity. And that's without looking at different scales, where again and you can represent a completely different type of battlescape.

I always think that good advice here is 'a change is as good as a rest'. If you're bored, try something else for a bit.

Go skirmish level, or start a RPG campaign, using the figures in the game.

other Ideas are to start a ladder/ map based/ or planetary campaign at the local shop.

Use what you have, until you win units you don't....

Start with a squad, pins in a map, and fight over objectives. Sometimes you get something cool, sometimes you get additional issues that come up.

One time, I was playing one where my platoon earned an inquisitor, and ion the next game, I earned a Plague Marine.... Obviously the two didn't get along.

These days, I am starting a new 40K army with a demagogue, and a squad of cultists. Platoon level, then grow from their, along with a main character that I am writing up a Black Crusade character for.

I know exactly what your going through. It happens to me every time a new edition co0mes out and all of the asshats down at the shop jump on the lickie and chewie bandwagon, and the game becomes static.

A bonus out of this is that you can sell the smaller army if you get tired of it, and there are always customers who do not mind starting with a low army count. ( that silly thing about the overreaching prices.)

On most armies, I am solid for at least three squads, then I reach burn out and have to get some characters, or a vehicle.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
