The primaris lost their gothic style. Their armors are just to sci fi-ish, even Tau-like, it is like geedubs forgot about the dark age of technology and turns it coat like it never happened.

And let's not forget that no one seemed to be stressed out by Cawly's lifespan of 10 000 years or whatnot.

But thinking of, if geedubs would have fixed the scale of space marines since day 1 or when they became a thing, would they still have released their new 50 dollar units ?

the loss of the "gothic style" is intentional. they've said it's because the armor etc is newer. so the clean lines are an intentional thing.

Yeah, but the gothic style is what made the universe unique, as a take on the degradation of the culture and the emptiness of imperial edifice as humanity is reduced to endless strife with the only beauty being ornate armor and tanks with altars and so on...
Without that flavor and color, we are left with shiny new boy-toys in spesss...

Glad to hear that you know what I will be thinking even better than I do.

Because, as it stands, these names are idiocy and I can't for the life of me see how this judgement should ever change.

I find it hilarious that you find "Intercessor Squad" more absurd than "Assault Squad."

yes and no, 40k has always been a bit of a melting pot of styles. I'd hardly describe the Eldar as being partiuclarly gothic, let alone the Tau.

that said, just so I'm sure we're on the same page, by "lack of gothic style" what exactly are you thinking of? I mean yeah the primaris marines are lacking a lotta skulls but...

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

They look a ton better. That's really all the reason I need.

That's pretty subjective though for many nice models alone don't justify their existence.

For many people a nice looking model is the only reason to justify it's existence. Personally, I don't buy every nice looking mini that comes along, but I'm sure not going to buy an ugly looking one.

Their names are juvenile.

As compared to the existing names?
"Space Marine"
"Tactical Squad"
"Devastator Squad"
"Assault Squad"
"Terminator Squad"
"Rhino"
"Land Raider"

Paragons of mature creativity those are. What would you rather they be called?

Seriously? You dont sense the difference?
If not, well there is no answer really.
Some things cannot be taught.

That said, per my last post, I would have preferred that the numarines be called tactical squads, devastator squads, and so on.
Same but slightly larger and more detailed, OK, and with two wounds like ork nobs, OK.
But intercessionblasters from helle, not OK.
I think argonak has a point.

You're not complaining about the names of the old units because you're used to them, and the old ones are hardly brilliant names themselves. In time, the Primaris names will be indistinguishable.

The issue with calling Intercessors "Tactical Squads" is that what happens to the Mk7 Tactical Squads? They have different wargear, different options, different size, stats - aside from them both being the baseline troops of the Space Marines and Primaris Space Marines respectively, there's very little in common. You simply can't call them the same thing, and even then, it pretends that the original names weren't "juvenile" to begin with.
I mean, come on - a squad dedicated to devastating the enemy from range - "Devastators".
A squad dedicated to fighting in the assault phase - "Assault Squad".
The squad medic - an "Apothecary".
A tank which hunts down aircraft with a large cannon - a "Hunter".

I mean, at least the Repulsor actually moves via REPULSOR engines.

The names are hardly an issue, and I expect they'll be commonplace, like how Tempestus Scion has been, or Taurox, or Wyvern.

That's not unique. It's trite. There's very little unique about 40K.
