Is that a familiar design on the cap?

The Broken are now available - we've started a new thread here: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/740844.page

to show and discuss the release.

KK, it ended up getting painted in a similar fashion to other designs, but is a simple symmetrical design which was completely unintentional in terms of similarity.

Out of curiosity, what are The Broken like in terms of game play, background and tactics?

Can you divulge this info at this stage?

I haven't been keeping up with the latest fluff from ME, so yeah, what kind of army will The Broken be?

Swarm? Horde? Hit and run? Sneaky tactics? Unconventional?

The broken isn't really a single faction. It encompasses revolutionaries, space pirates, the desperate poor, opportunists, down-on-their-luck corporations/governments, alien civilizations, and survivalists. The stories I remember had some "Broken" criminal gangs, a BSG-like fleet of refugee ships, some post-apoc survivors, and a fleeing colonial government.

They are definitely a horde army, with the Broken Rabble units made up by the plastic sprues now on sale the lowest point unit in the game (there are three different units plus a HQ that can be built using the sprue). Later units will expand that out, but there will definitely be some unconventional tactics that play with the revolutionary, pirate themes in the background.

I can't wait to get these. Already ordered the 3 pack. Me and my brother are gonna have an army of broken but we are each going to make them a different theme. My brother has chosen to make an all alien force coalition, while I am gonna make an abandoned ex corporate rebel force with looted robots.

Sgt : " Whats your name soldier? "

Pvt : " Gene steeler, sir "

Pvt : " No relation "

Love the look of the models. My set of Broken x3 models arrived the other day. Going to have to set some time aside next week to build them.

Has anyone done a pic of the weapons sprue with weapon names next to each weapon? That would help out loads.

My Painting Blog: http://gimgamgoo.com/
Currently most played: Silent Death, Xenos Rampant, Mars Code Aurora and Battletech.
I tried dabbling with 40k9/10 again and tried AoS3 - disliked both, but I'm enjoying HH2 and trying Battletech Classic and AS out

Keep poking us about that - we have all the raw images to do it, and will put together a proper article in the near future. The card generator will soon support visual popups which will show the weapon when you click on the name but we do need a stopgap

Just FYI, we're putting out a few articles looking at the rules for the Broken and how they play on The Comm Guild blog.

The first part of that series just went up today, covering a bit of our release plans for the Broken and how that impacts their rules.

Thanks for the weapon sprue post. That is sure going to help loads.

Now I just have to decide which weapons to go for. :-)

Damn you SAS, between your MEdge models and Mantic's GCPS models, I think my unpainted plastic mountain will now outlive me. :-(

What distributors carry the Broken in the USA?

"...and special thanks to Judgedoug!" - Alessio Cavatore "Now you've gone too far Doug! ... Too far... " - Rick Priestley "I've decided that I'd rather not have you as a member of TMP." - Editor, The Miniatures Page "I'd rather put my testicles through a mangle than spend any time gaming with you." - Richard, TooFatLardies "We need a Doug Craig in every store." - Warlord Games "Thank you for being here, Judge Doug!" - Adam Troke

I don't think there are any yet, as they won't be in retail packaging for a while.

Shipping from the MEdge webstore is quick and inexpensive, though.

The Broken look great. I just wanted to ask anyone who's ordered and received them how they measure up to previous MEdge releases in terms of detail / casting quality?

The initial MEdge release had some great, 40K quality high detail figures like the Kaddar Nova, but also had figures with shallower detail, like the Karist troopers. My understanding was that different casting companies cast the figures, explaining the disparity, and that the MEdge team would be using those better companies in the future.

So my question is simple: if you've bought the Broken, are these comparable in detail quality to the Kaddar Nova, or are they more like the Karist troopers?

More importantly, did your models arrive broken?

(That final "pun" is a test to see if I'll get banned for the forum. Not for disparaging a company product - not at all my intent - but for perpetrating an abominable crime against humor.)

The Broken models are the most detailed we've ever done - if you look closely you can see individual teeth sculpted into the mouths of the female heads for instance. Detail is easily the best to date.

Are there enough bitz to assemble all 6 as normal humans (that is: without obvious mutation)?

I'm hunting for conscript models more creative than "Cadian with a white stripe down his helmet" and these have a great look.

It's hard to make a broken list at the moment since you need so many models due to their low cost.

Maybe a rogue/looted/hacked command scarecrow detachment could be a solution until some more models are released.

There will be some more options coming for them very soon that will help soak up some of those points

They are excellent models: very well-detailed and well-made.

My sole complaint of them is the same as the complaint I have of the entire line: every single model that's designed to hold a rifle suffers from improbable arm anatomy. The elbows, wrists and gun angles just don't look natural. That being said, I think these are the best humans of the line so far, and there are loads of options and nice little details (Molotov cocktail, anyone?)
