No doubt at all - you're so close to finishing! This was a serious task to take on, it's really cool to see you're pushing through to the end. The cracked glass in the windows is brilliant and a detail that never occurred to me. Consider the idea passed on, I'll be doing the same when I revisit my terrain in the coming year (2018 is dedicated to finishing models I've already started).

I also really enjoy the detail on the floors. Truly excellent detail. This is an impressive build all around.

Offering an opinion on the building interior, with the understanding you're still working on the project- if you haven't already considered it, the interior doorways need a door jam. It looks unfinished without them. I'm guessing you're planning on it but sometimes a project this big causes blind spots, especially when you're this close to being done.

Skalk- Thanks for the feedback man, I appreciate it a bunch. And thanks for pointing out the door jambs, I had completely forgotten that! I'll add that to my to do list for this evening!

I pushed through over the last couple of day, and I think I have now finished this ruined building. Looking back on the construction there are certainly things I could have done better, or would do differently in hind sight, But over all I'm pleased with how it came out. There were sometimes along the way that I wasn't sure, but in the end it pretty much turned out how I initially envisioned it. Since my last post I have finished the painting of the mud, added debris and painted that, finished the door frame on the interior doors, and added the stained glass windows on either end of the building and the lanterns by the front door. So here are the shots of the finished building. Thanks to all of you who have followed the build on this and given feedback, I genuinely appreciate. And if you see anything I missed, feel free to let me know!

That's an excellent result. Again, such a massive build. The last pic looks like something straight out of White Dwarf. What do you have coming up next?

Thanks Skalk, that's some pretty high praise! I'm working on a couple things at the moment. First I want to try and get some basing done for my mordheim stuff. I've become more efficient with my insulation work, so I'm thinking of insulation stamped with a brick design. Then I'm building some fairy garden buildings for the wife as she wants to do a fairy garden in one of our backyard gardens that doesn't get much light. I already have a rough build on the first one, and its refreshing to have much looser tolerances than I would do with a building designed for miniature building. I also want to work on an intact building with usable interior for mordheim/ D&D. What I'm thinking for that will be multiple removable floors and a fished interior with furniture etc. It should be a fairly epic build once I get going on it.

I had a little time this weekend, so I put the finishing touches on my human mercenaries. Little paint here and there, mostly basing. there are enough for two med size warbands, or one really big mixed force. I did the bases for them differently, but similar enough that they don't clash horribly when seen together. The first group I imagine to be a bunch of pirates and other lower socio economic scum.

This next group I imagine to be more upper crust, wealthy scum. hence more powder weapons

And here are all of them together!

Thanks for looking, and as always comments and criticism welcome and appreciated.

Your terrain is awesome and that last building is absolutely epic! Terrain is one of the things I just can't build or paint; bores me to tears but you nailed it! (building pun maybe?)

Thanks Bunnygurl! I love painting minis, but I have a weak spot for terrain as well. I have just always loved creating buildings and other terrain. Its just makes the game so much more immersive.

That is a massive Warband. You genuinely do have a passion for this game. With Necromunda getting a massive reboot I'm hoping Mordheim sees the same, though the original will always be my favorite simply because it was the original.

Thanks Skalk. Like I said its really more like two warbands that I can mix and match from for the sake of flexibility. I would love to see a new version of Mordheim with contemporary sculpts etc., but I'm not holding my breath. They did blow up the world Mordheim was locate din after all ;-)

I did catch that, should have been more clear. Compliment remains the same.

Bloodbowl still exists in some alternate Old World universe. I'm sure GW could work a Mordheim city into the realms. That said, I have 4 of my 8 people game group interested in Mordheim again so I see a new warband in my near future. I'm thinking Cultists or Undead this time.

Thanks for the encourage ment y'all, it makes it much easier to stick with the projects. This week I've been focusing on some orge-esque additions. I picked up a bunch of Bones miniatures early in the week for my on going D & D campaign, and while I was at ait I picked up the skeleton Minotaur they just released. I justified it as a hired sword ogre for my undead warband, but really I just love Minotaurs and skeletons, so the two together was too hard to pass up. I painted the bones areas with bleached bone, not sure if I want to go all the way up and highlight with white. Any thoughts on the matter?

Next up are a couple of rat ogres for my on going skaven war band. I made the skin on the one with the sword arm lighter, not sure if I want to leave the other as is or do another layer of highlight on him. Let me know what you guys think. I'm also torn on how to base these guys. Not sure if I want to have them with a stirland mud type base, or go for a red brick sewer look.

And heres a shot of the main reason I went shopping this week, a couple of big old boys ;-)

Thanks again for looking, and comments and criticism are welcome and appreciated as always!

Skeletal Minotaur- I'd say go for the highlights if it's what you want, but if you're painting for decent tabletop quality you're already there. The aged effect you have on the armor is excellent. Maybe go over the leather straps holding the stone on the club, you overlapped grey on brown. Maybe a wash on the horns to delineate where horn stops and skull starts. All that said... move 3 ft away and it's an amazing model.

Also a heads up- my efforts were successful and my game group decided to start a new Mordheim campaign. Like a full-on campaign with 6 people playing two Warbands each. Both of my active threads are about to go 100% Mordheim.

Forgot to mention the Rat Ogres- they look excellent as is. For the base I'd go with a cobblestone or brick effect.

I'm so glad to hear your group is starting a new Mordheim campaign Skalk. I look forward to seeing the new stuff you come up with for this! As for my own efforts, I've gotten a little done of the rest of my skaven. Heres what I have some far:

Fist up is a plague monk that I am using as an assassin. I want to get the actual skaven assassin model as its an awesome model, but I don't want to order online for fear of the dreaded fine cast, and I haven't had a chance to stop into a store to order it.

Next up is a few of the rats from blood island converted for mordheim use.

Been a while since I updated this thread, but I have been fairly busy and I have pics to prove it. First up is more terrain.

I'm hoping to get some Mordheim games in soon with a couple of guys from my gaming group, so I want to get a few more terrain pieces done fairly quickly I have. I got this one done in about two day this week as I was sick and off work, so I had some time on my hands. All that is left to complete at this point is a dry brush on the rubble/soil and to add a handle to the front door. Pic are chronological WIP

Next up I got some progress done on basing my rats. I'm going for a dirty red brick sewer look.

Last but not least this big ol beasty is really more for my D & D campaign, but I figured I would show him off here ;-)

Skaven look great! Would look better flat on their backs with a few musket ball-shaped holes in their heads, but still pretty decent!

Terrain though, looking good! That mesh you applied in the windows is awesome and I'm going to use it on my next model. The different colors shingles on the roof are also an excellent touch for random diversity. The Imperial scroll ribbon used above the doorway is excellent, will be borrowing that idea as well.

Excellent progress, looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!

Thanks skalk! I agree rats look better with holes in them as when I first played mordheim, one of my friends played skaven and they were the bane of my chaos warbands existence! But I had them laying around, and its nice to have options when enticing others to play ;-) I'm glad you like the new building. I did it real quick when I had some down time, but I think it turned out well. I really like the table with books as I think its gives it a nice lived in appearance. As for the shingles, at first i thought the contrast was too stark, but once I gave em a wash I was happy with how they blended together.

Heres a link to the site where I found the tutorial for the shingles: http://blog.treefeathers.com/2008/11/making-aged-slate-roof-shingles.html

I've not had a ton of hobby time recently, but I did get to go on vacation to Costa Rica, so Yay! for that. I actually got a couple of friends to agree to try out mordheim, so I'm throwing together another building quickly so we can have a decent amount of terrain to game with. I realized all the pieces I had built so far were ruined in the back, and less damaged in the front so I purposely choose to reverse that for this building.

]

The door on the back will have a wooden deck and a ramp leading up to it. Base is going to be cobble stone all around. I'll hopefully have some more pics up in a day or so as our first game is on sunday and I hope to have this done ( or near done) before then. Thanks for looking and comments and criticism are welcome and appreciated as always!

I do like mordheim I really dig your terrain. but do you think it could be replicated with cardboard as or would foam be easier? oh how I hate basing I was going to me cheap and cut up card stock and make it look like cobblestone

Vacations are awesome. I'm taking 2 weeks off starting next Friday.

Great to see you back in building mode. Nice start so far, too early to offer more critique. Looking forward to seeing where this goes, and congratulations for getting a group together. Mordheim is one of the most awesome games GW ever put out and I'm hoping it doesn't get re-released like Necromunda did. Yes, it's a fun game, but I liked N95 better. I'll never get anyone to go back to it though, and that makes me a bit sad. Such a great game, now lost to the march of time and progress.

Alabamaheretic: Thanks, I'm glad you like it! using card is one way to get the look of cobble stone, I generally like using foam as it gives it a bit more depth, plus then I can just draw on the stones, rather than fiddling around with scissors!

Skalk, Glad to hear you are getting some down time sir! Are you going somewhere or doing a staycation?

As for progress, man do I have some pics to show! I did manage to finish the building I was working on, and I also got shots of it all in action during our game on Sunday!

First up the in progress and finished shots of the building:

So thats the finished build for this one. next up are some shots of our first games. First one was my buddy playing undead against his brother playing possessed. Very close game, with my buddy rolling horribly, but then making a come back, only to fail a crucial route test. Second game was me playing mercenaries against my buddies brother, this time he was playing sisters. Very lopsided battle, with the first few rounds going to me as I shot up his sisters, then once close combat started he picked apart my mercs, but I held on until he failed a route test!

Thats it for now. I'm starting a summer class ( my last class for my masters!) andI'm not sure how much hobby time I'll have so it may be a while between updates. Thanks for the feedback as always!!

Not had much hobby time over the last few weeks, but I saw a box of empire state troops on line pretty cheap, so I grabbed it to add some variety to my mercs. You know what that means? It's time for a good old fashioned kit bash!!

Take a look at the pile below and see how many different kits you can spot bits from! need a clue? Its more than 4.

And here's what I threw together from that random pile of stuff:

First pic is a unit of halberdiers I put together as I just love the look of halberds. Next is some swordsmen with two swords each for twice the fun! the a few marks men to round out potential units. Last but not least is the brother with two sigmarite hammers. This one is a bit of poke in the eye to my buddy I played in my last game. During the after battle phase, I had taken out his sister with two hammers, and he rolled that she was taken hostage. What else was I to do but sell her to the slave pits and take the hammers for myself? '-) So of course I had to order some sigmarine hammer bits to kit bash a model to represent this triumph. Upon seeing these pics I was not pleased with the head as it looks just a touch too big for the body, so i swapped it for one of the beardy flagellant heads, and I think this works better. Hopefully I will have some time soon to get some paint on these.

As always, thanks for looking and comments and criticism welcome and appreciated!

The terrain is looking really great Col. Kurtz, the broken glass in the windows are a really nice touch. The warbands are really coming together as well. What are the chances, do you think, that GW will give Mordheim the same treatment they recently gave to Necromunda and (soon to be released) Adeptus Titanicus?

Thanks Fango! I'm glad you like what I've been working on. As for a redo of Mordheim, I'm of mixed feelings. I would love to see new mini's, but I dont know how likely it is with the setting chnage from the old world to AoS. Plus it seems like GW have alot on their plate already with the 2 main games and 3 specialist, plus the boxed games etc. We can hope though, right?

I have finally finished with school and gotten a little bit of hobby time, so here are some pics of my WIP new mercs and a conversion I did for my friend who is playing sisters.

First up, a reaper gladiator that I converted to be a pit fighter as my buddy hired one after our last game:
https://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/02382

Next up is the converted sister of battle. I took one of the sisters I had that had the nun chuks and cut out the weapons and replaced them with two age of sigmar hammers

the rest of these are just kit bashes from various empire and bretonian kits. there are still some fine detail and touch up paintsing to do with these, but I wanted to get them up here to help keep me motiviated. Plus obviously basing isn't done yet.

Thanks for looking, and as always comments and criticism welcome and appreciated!
