Oh I dunno...I have a Blue Belt in Karate and I'm starting a beginners course in Archery at the end of this month, I feel good about my chances.

Yeah right!

Luckily it will never happen though...

Anyway, you guys have almost convinced me to watch Season 3 of this show now, dammit!

You don't believe me? I've been doing Karate weekly for 2 years, I had to learn the Pinan Yondan Kata for my Blue Belt, Nidan-geri is fething hard on your knees and I met Ian Abernathy in person when he held a Naihanchi bunkai seminar at my local club.

I've also been doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 2 months but I suck at it, its much harder to learn than Karate. The guys at BJJ are all Jiu Jitsu and MMA tournament fighters so I'm a wee bit out of my depth there.

Season 3 is worth a watch, even if just to see how its improved since the crap first season. Its definitely the strongest season yet.

Yeah season 3 and even 2 are significant improvements. Well worth jumping back into.

Yeah, it's the geeks who would be out there trying to kung fu the zombies and attack them with swords and gak that would be the appetizers.

But the assumption made there -- and the real heart of the issue -- is that people wouldn't LOSE THEIR GAK seeing animated corpses with their intestines hanging out chasing them around and hungering to eat their living flesh. Most of us who aren't in professions that involve highly intense situations will freeze up and/or freak out in circumstances a lot more mild than undead attacks.

As Negan said, it'd be "pee-pee pants city". With lots of high-pitched wailing. It is what it is.

Well, at least we'd be able to quickly identify him by his blue belt.

Finished it and enjoyed it. Most of my favorites were the ones left. Apparently Gim0le is going to be running this one now too which outside of some stuff last season on twd I think is a good thing.

Season 2 was a bit rough. Especially the first half on the boat. It got a lot better in the second half.

The Walking Dead is always at its best when the settlements and safe havens that survivors build fall apart and get overrun, forcing them back onto the road.

The shows get stale when the characters are comfortable and settled, but are at their best when the central characters are forced to be nomads.

Yeah, I gotta say for the first two seasons of FTWD I pretty much hate watched the show...really just sticking around to watch all the main characters hopefully meet their demise.

Yet, this last season as the regular Walking Dead took a dive into a dumpster (IMHO), strangely FTWD started being really compelling. The whole ranch vs. the native americans plotline was interesting enough to keep me coming back and wanting to know what would happen.

At this point, I think the regular Walking Dead is just too adherent to the comic book source material to the point where its really hurting them. They're basically plotting the seasons just to hit certain 'beats' from the comic and then are stuck trying to fill in the rest of the time with random BS. That and trying to jerk the audience around with fake-outs and 'shocking' deaths.

FTWD seems to be much more free and that's really helping them. I'm a bit concerned that right when it feels like they've hit their stride Gimple is taking over running the show (especially when I feel like he's running the regular Walking Dead into the ground). I can only hope that the fact that there isn't a comic blueprint to adhere to will allow the show to continue to evolve and improve while the basic WD withers away on the vine.

The only thing that really bummed me out about the finale was:

Spoiler:
As much as I hated Troy as a character, I thought keeping him around as like a mirror for Nick would have been really fascinating. For a while it seemed like he learned his lesson/was genuinely repentant for what he had done (gotten his brother killed and destroyed the ranch). If they had continued down that path of having someone who was clearly a psycopath but also had realized that their own instincts were dangerous/wrong, I believe they could have gotten some good mileage out of the character beyond the same old Clark family drama.

Agreed Yak on Troy. I actually do enjoy the majority of twd so we'll have to split there as I truly.love quite a few of the current characters but ftwd was a genuinely good show this season on its own merits. And watching more heavily populated areas post breakdown is pretty interesting.

I really enjoyed Troy. Disappointed with his ending plot arc.
I thought he was a great counter balance to Nick/Madison in that he was sort of uncontrollable on one hand but on the other subservient to them at times.

Am I allowed to res this one?

What did you guys make of the season ending and several kill offs?
This season didnt hook me as much. I think the past/present/flashback thing didnt quite work and the main enemies werent as sinister as past seasons.

I honestly only got 3 episodes in and haven't been back yet. Mostly because of the first big death of the season. That just kinda killed it for me for multiple reasons, only one of them having him being my favorite character by a mile.

I think second half of this season has been all over the shop, really meandering
It reminds me of TWD season where they were making their way to terminus.
Just a bunch of stand alone episodes with no drive or end purpose.
I wonder if they have got a bit lost after losing Nick/Madison.

It kinda became the Morgan show. And the situation in the season ender felt like one of the many contrived dilemmas from TWD. Actually, the hurricane kinda did too, now that I think about it. Which suggests the show has been influenced by the Scott Gimple Effect(TM). But overall I still liked the season much better than recent seasons of TWD.

To be fair to TWD, the second half of last season did start to feel a little better...I just don't know how they have a viable show going forward without all their best characters. Time to put a bow on that one and make FTWD the best show they can, IMO.

What he said. They claim that FTWD is an ensemble cast but once they got rid of certain characters it became obvious that he was moved over to make it HIS show. That said I thought I was done after the early season death and the midseason one. But unlike TWD now the story was decent enough and the characters good enough that i found myself enjoying the last few episodes of the season and hopeful for next season. TWD will get however many episodes Rick has left and then I'm out. And they're only getting that BECAUSE I want to see how his story ends.

We're losing interest in both TWD's fast :( just ain't what it used to be. All the characters we like are leaving or dying, and not being replaced by anyone we care about at all.

I agree on TWD. FTWD added Dillahunt and Maggie Grace this season which is all that got me thru my two favorite characters deaths. I'm good with the first as he asked to be done but pissed about the midseason one still. So much more they could have done with that.

I can't stand the Morgan show.

I liked the first season. Only character I couldn't stand was Travis' son, eff that guy. Poorly written inconsistent character that I just couldn't understand at all.

Enjoyed the second there were some really good parts (and how did they all forget about the smear yourself with zombie blood trick...) and some weird parts but overall didn't ruin it for me.

Was really hooked by the third season. Characters actually seemed realistic and i could understand most of their decisions (instead of just trying to advance the plot).

But this season was sssssooooooooo bad. It started out pretty good but about mid-way through something happened and it went to complete gak. Poor writing. Poor plot development. The characters were doing things only to advance the plot or for more drama. I still like Strand (sp?), the video taping maniac at least has clear motive and the cowboy guy and Darhma are one of my favorite couples in any TV show but the rest of them can jump off a cliff. The finale was so bad. Whatever change they made between season 3 and 4 needs to go because that was the biggest fall off of a show I've ever seen.

Annnnnd we're back.
I thought first two episodes were pretty solid actually.
They are certainly setting up a few nice new angles and its moved along at a better pace than last season.
Heres hoping they can recapture some of season 3s magic.
