That is fair, it just means it doesn't fit into what I can use. I did find that Game Anywhere Tables, however, is modular to do what I wanted. Originally I didn't look at them because it looked like a folding table topper, but their new GAT-54 table makes it look like a standard gaming table. So it looks like I will be going that route instead.

Last stretch goal hit. Clear PVC table cover. A little too pricy for me at this point, unfortunately, unless I drop other add-ons. I'll have to think about it.

Edit: Nah, I'll just get something second hand from a thrift store can call it a day.

Final two hours (it closes at 8:00 AM PST on 9/28/17).

I've decided to forgo most of the accessories and stick to the 6' x 4' table with the cover/desk boards so I can also use it as a dining table in my kitchen.

Given that they're ready to start production once they receive the money, I don't expect that fulfillment dates will slip much.

I also like the fact that they've been polling backers early so they have an idea on what to expect so they can schedule things accordingly. I also like that they haven't been going around promising everyone the moon just to hit a stretch goal or to get a little more money from pre-orders.

It's interesting to see the wood workers in the comments asking about technical details of production, "Process Steps, Lead Time, Plant Rate, Value Added Time, Takt Time, etc."

The GW RoBG's will not fit into it as it's not a true 6x4 playing area. I assume game mats will also not fit.

So unfortunate; I absolutely would have backed this.

Okay, the pledge manager is up at www.pledgemanager.com

The only upgrade I went with was an extra set of legs so I could use the table as a dining table (normal legs) or as a gaming table (long legs). I saved a little money by selecting long legs as the default and then ordering medium legs as the upgrade. Doing the reverse would have added around $30 or so to the bill.

• 4.6 Basic Table of Ultimate Gaming **w/ NO LEGS** - Natural Light Wood Grain (reward)
• Table Leg Set - Reward Set - Tall Counter Height » Natural Light Wood Grain (reward)
• 4.6 Wood Table Top Covers - White (reward)
• 4.6 Playmat - Blue Mat (reward)
• Table Leg Set - Standard Height » Natural Light Wood Grain (add on)

Total cost: 1,105.17

your mind

Holy ghost.
1100bux for a table.
I just built a guest bed from clear pine, granted it is natty but I could add all the power plugs and dragon etchings I want if I wanted and hide under the thing during an earthquake - it is tough - about 1/10th of the cost.
For a dedicated gaming table, hmmm, that thing is pretty if one has 1100bux for a table.

If you look around, you'll find that most well built dining tables are similarly priced. I got the top covers so that I could also use this as a dining table. So, considering the dual use I'd say it's a pretty good deal as long as the final product lives up to the promises. Also, that price includes shipping which is expensive for a heavy table.

I don't know if anyone else on Dakka bought one of these but I just got a notice that they're locking down orders and getting things ready for delivery.

We wanted to let you know that we're locking down Table of Ultimate Gaming: The Ultimate Game Table orders for fulfillment soon and wanted to be sure we have the correct address for you. If your address is correct below, you're all set!

I expect they're still on track for early March fulfillment which is a nice thing given how many kickstarters I've supported that have had dates slip by years.

February update:
February Status!

Posted by Wood Robot (Creator)

Hi folks!

Tables are on the way…they should arrive on US shores the end of this month. If you’re in the US, there’s a good chance you’ll get your table mid- to late-march.

One caveat: this shipment will contain tables only…that is the play surface, one set of legs, and one mat. The wood table covers and all other accessories (deco packs, extra legs and mats, etc.) will come in the next shipment. I know this will be a disappointment to many of you, but please bear with us. We’re getting everything to you as soon as we can.

Canada, UK/EU, and Australia/NZ orders will ship after Chinese New Year. They’ll take a bit longer, but they should ship with all accessories included.

Peace!

Melissa

Project Update #62

Hi all!

Just a quick update. I have a slightly revised time frame: barring issues, the first tables are set to arrive in our warehouse March 27. With this in mind, they will be in homes early April.

So…about chairs. With the standard legs, the distance between the floor and the bottom edge of the table is 24.6 inches. You should plan on about 7 inches between the chair and table bottom, so you're looking for chairs in the 17-18 inch range. Of course, it's all based on preference, but that's going to be what most people are comfortable with. Fortunately, that’s about standard chair height.

It's official! We (Patrick, Jamie, and Melissa) are going to be at San Diego Comic Con and at Gen Con, so be sure to swing by and say hi!

Peace!

Mel

Matching Chairs
We've got some good news--we are sourcing chairs to match the tables. So for those of you who are interested, they should be available soon. These chairs will not be made in our factory (we need to make tables!) but will use our stains and will match perfectly. I'll announce when the chairs are available.

The factory is running three shifts to keep up, and the tables are looking great.

If you need to change your address, you'll find out that PledgeManager is closed. If you need to update your account, email changes of address to support@woodenbot.com.

You guys are great, and we appreciate you: your input, your enthusiasm, and your support. We learn so much from you, and because of you we learn and get better every day.

Wood Robot (Creator) wrote:A story of cardboard....

Hi Folks,

Quick update and a tale you might not find particularly interesting or magical, but you might find informative.

1) I am getting a production update from the factory some time this week. Then I’ll know more about when your tables will be shipping. Right now, I am just not sure and I don't want to give you wrong information.

2) If your table is in one of our first containers, you’ll be getting an email from me in the next two weeks.

3) If you need to change your shipping address, please email support@woodenbot.com. It may be too late if your table is in the first containers, but otherwise you’ve got time.

4) Answering the question, “Why are you now shipping more containers than you originally planned?”:

Our story begins several weeks ago when we were researching the best way to ensure the tables are undamaged during shipment.

At first, we had designed a shipping box supported by plastic straps. They held the tables safely and securely, and we thought everything was great. Then, we found out that we could not use the straps during the final leg of their journey—the straps we were depending on can get caught in conveyor belts and so are not allowed. We were back at square one.

We sourced stronger cardboard boxes, but the biggest worry was the corners—one thing we did not want is for the corners to be banged up. It would affect the aesthetics of the entire table. We found plastic corners for packaging. We put these plastic corners inside and outside the boxes hoping they would keep our tables safe….which they did. But once again, we were told that the outside plastic corners are a no-go. We needed thicker corners inside the boxes….

We added the thicker corners, made our boxes bigger, and tried again. This time, we sent a table from the factory to my home as a test. When it arrived, there was a hole in the side of the box. The table was intact, but Styrofoam poured out of the wound. The corners were safe and sound, but it was clear that we needed thicker packaging.

We sourced even thicker boxes. We were certain we had a winning formula. It was time for a test. We took a table and paid for it to be shipped to multiple cities and then back to the factory, a journey far rougher than anything it should experience in fulfillment. Success! The tables arrived completely unharmed.

However, now with packaging, our shipping boxes are much, much thicker. They take up much more room, and require more containers.

So, an update on what is being shipped first and to whom. I ordered a 6x4 birch table so I guess I'll have to wait till the end of April to get mine.

Wood Robot wrote:Production schedule received...

Hi all!

Our first containers have gone through customs in the US (one on each coast) and are in fulfillment. I (Mel) am visiting one of the warehouses on Tuesday and will update you next week.

I have just received a production update from the factory along with planned shipping dates. This is not a complete list, and it is still tentative. You’ll notice it is slightly different from what I told you before…This is new information for me as well.

US:

The first two containers contain only 3.5 walnut tables and some extra mats. If you ordered a 3.5 walnut, you will likely be receiving it soon.

If you are east of New Mexico/Colorado/Wyoming/Montana and ordered a 3.5 walnut table, one of the screws is 2 mm too long. It does not affect the table any way but aesthetically, but it’s annoying. I will be sending you a small envelope with a new screw that is the correct size. No one else is affected.

April is a busy month. The factory is sending 9 containers to the US in one month. These containers will include all tables and accessories except dice towers and deco packs. Dice towers and deco packs are scheduled for end of May. The first two containers will contain accessories, so most of you will get accessories before tables.

Canada:

Hi Canada! We decided to finish the US orders before sending a Canadian container so that the rest of the world will receive tables and accessories together, and so that US customers won’t be waiting so long for table tops. Your container is now scheduled to ship out end of May (25-ish). It will have all of the tables and accessories together.

EU:

You, too are scheduled for end of May (27-ish) with everything shipping together…Unfortunately, your container has the longest sea voyage, so it’ll take a while. It will go to the UK first, and be fulfilled to the rest of the EU after that.

Australia:

Don’t think there’s no love for you! We’re working with Aetherworks to get your orders to you…but you’re shipping last (May 31-ish). On the bright side: we’ve got all of our certifications to import wood into Australia, so we’re ready to go!

So, I got the sampler from Darkraven Games. Not exactly music as much as "atmosphere". I can also see why they aren't publishing on iTunes. Well, it's free so at least I got my money's worth. I guess.

Another update.

Wood Robot wrote:Notes on the tables coming in....

Hi folks!

We are so excited that tables are finally making it into homes! When you get your table together, please send us pics. We’d love to see and every week I will be giving away one $50 gift card for our site to a lucky person who sent us photos!

I have one ask: If you have an issue, let me know immediately. I will do my best to make it right. We’ve had some great feedback, and we’re getting better all the time. We have also made a video to show you how to put the table together if you would like more assistance:

These first tables have some known issues that we have addressed in later shipments, so we beg your indulgence if these come up:

• The screws in instruction manual step 25 (the four that go in the middle) are too long. I have sent replacements to everyone. You should receive them on Saturday if you are getting a table with this issue. If you don’t get one on Saturday, and believe you should have, let me know.
• In the same envelope as the screws, you'll find some nut barrels just in case. We found that some of the earlier nut barrels had problems with their threads. These have been replaced on the newer tables.
• One these first tables, there are no pilot holes drilled for the screws holding in the outlets. These can be screwed in my hand with a little muscle, but later tables have the pilot holes.
• The cartons are getting pretty beat up, but future shipments are using thicker cardboard, so the boxes should be much stronger.
• In the first tables, the letters on the pieces don’t always coincide with the letters in the instructions. This is corrected in later shipments.

As you put the table together, please consider:

• Put the table together on a soft surface like a rug or blanket to prevent scratching.
• Watch the orientation of the pieces closely--it's easy to make mistake with the frame parts and place them upside down or outside in. Remember: magnets always face outside.
• When connecting the screws with the nut barrels, finger-tighten first to make sure they fit correctly. Never try to force the screw and nut together. If it doesn’t go together easily use a different nut barrel. We have put extra in the packages.
• If you are assembling the shallow play depth, be very careful to place the mat correctly and not move it when assembling the rails.
• If you find gaps between the corner rails, you can correct it by gently tapping it with a rubber mallet.
• If you are using an electric screwdriver, finish tightening by hand. Often power tools don’t tighten enough.
Watch your screws--in some places if the wrong screws are used it will damage the wood.
• Team assembly is recommended. Two people will make flipping the table and affixing the rails much easier.

If I haven’t had a chance to respond to an email or handle one of your issues, I am sorry. This has been an extremely busy week, but we are caught up, and I will get to everyone.

I literally cannot wait to get mine (well, I don't mind a little more time, I have to clear my game room a bit).

I ordered a 6x4, counter height.

I know Dakka user drno172000 also got one.
Manchu was considering one too I believe.

3x5's are "in the wild" and being delivered. They look fantastic, every bit as good as the dozens of tables that Wood Robot has sent to game companies for use at conventions over the last ten months.

Okay, so there is an updated schedule for when to expect our tables. Bad news, it looks like the US will slip to late 2nd Qtr. Good news, RotW hasn't slipped.

Wood Robot wrote:Moving into Spring

Hi folks,

It’s update time.

I want to remind everyone that tabletops and accessories are coming in a different shipment. The first shipments are tables only.

• Some of the tables have been damaged in transit. If you have any damage, please contact support@woodenbot.com

• Do not put mats in the dryer!!! They will pill (this is the voice of ugly experience talking). The mats should settle within two weeks. They are natural rubber and will relax. If yours doesn't, for some strange reason, email me.

• There might be some streaks on your table rail. If so, use a little Goo Gone on it--it's likely glue residue.

• If anyone is near the Tacoma, WA area, check out our new partners and showroom at The Game Matrix. See all of our tables in action!

• We have gotten our first chair prototypes from the factory we’ve contracted to make them. I don’t have photos right now, and we need to make a couple of adjustments to the seat angles and such. Still, chairs are in process.

Ok, now on to production and fulfillment:

We have temporarily stopped shipping. There was a problem with the fulfillment company, and they sent two tables to some people, partial tables to others, and none to still others. This is really, really problematic—not just for you but for me. I asked them to stop shipping until this has been cleared up. We are working on it today and will have a solution very soon.

We tried really hard to package the tables so they would not be damaged in any way. However, this has proved to not be enough. We have had to push out our next shipment by a few days to handle this. We are getting less-brittle Styrofoam and changing the way some pieces are attached and corners are protected. Our poor QA guy at the factory is working all weekend on this, and we hope to have it cleared up soon.

On the bright side, we purchased a new machine for the factory that will speed up table top production significantly, so we will catch up to our original production schedule. This machine is super cool to watch in action, so we’re asking Emiel to make a quick video for us.
Currently, we are expecting the production to be pushed back for US, but not for Canada, Australia, or EU.

Here are our production changes:

If you live in Canada, EU, Asia, or Australia:

• No change! Your tables and accessories should ship out at the end of May.

If you live in the western half of the US:

• You have a good chance of getting 3.5 tables now or in the next container, and all 3.5 and 4.6 black table tops should be arriving with the next container. It is at sea and should be at the warehouse May 7.
• 2.4s should leave the factory May 15
• 4.6s and accessories should leave the factory May 25

If you live in the eastern half of the US:

• 2.4s and the rest of the 3.5s should leave the factory May 3
• 4.6s and accessories should leave the factory May 15-May 25

I unfortunately wasn't able to throw down for a full table at the time but did back the Kickstarter and have got to say the folks at Wood Robot have been on point! I'll hopefully be getting my own table from them in the near future as I think both the design and quality for the price is stellar not to mention the company itself have more than proven they can make good on their promises.

A quick note about the upcoming shipment.

Wood Robot wrote:We have two containers going out this week. As you know, we got about two weeks behind because of repackaging issues. I do not have a new schedule from the factory. When I get one, I’ll let you know.

Right now, some of you on the west side of the US have received shipping notices. Your tables will be going home next week. We also have a large number of table tops in that shipment. Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, they cannot be shipped as-is. There is not enough protection in the packaging, and if we send them as-is, they’ll get beat-up. The table tops are too visible to risk getting damaged. So they are going into storage until they can be repackaged.

Apparently, we need additional instructions on how to combine tables. We are working on them right now. For those of you with multiple tables, I'll get the instructions to you as soon as I can.

Another update.

Wood Robot wrote:Two quick requests:

1) I’ve come across about a dozen pledges where people have ordered white table tops with walnut or black tables. I have contacted the backers I found, and in all cases, this is not what they actually want. If this is your aesthetic then I am happy to accommodate. However, I think that most people would be unhappy with the combination.

Please check your order to make certain that your table tops match your table. If you accidentally ordered tops that don’t match and they are shipped to you, we will not be responsible for getting you new tops. You will have to purchase matching tops separately.

2) For Americans: Over the next 2-3 days I will be sending out hundreds of emails verifying your address and your order. Please open these as soon as possible and check that your information is correct. If it isn’t, let me know immediately! Additionally, if you have special shipping requirements such as you’re going out of town in the next two weeks or you’ve got a gate code, now is the time to remind me by responding to the email.

So, stuff has been shipping and I was wondering when I'd get mine. Labor Day weekend, apparently.

I had two packages on the way but didn't realize it when I called UPS and asked them to hold it for me over the holiday. One was held and the other delivered. This would have been a real problem - having a package sit on my porch over a long weekend, advertising to any criminals that my house was empty - but my plans were canceled on my and I returned early. So, I opened the box an hour ago and I'll have to wait to get the other package after the holiday. Not an issue for this update as I can make a second post when I get the other box.

At first I thought they were the legs but apparently they are the short sides of the table, specifically the parts designed to hold the "desk" that you make from the table covers. Anyway, here are the pics.

There are some bits such as the power outlets and the table corner pieces. No instructions came with this so I assume they'll be with the main box (along with screws and stuff) whenever that gets shipped. Until then, these (and the contents of the other box when I pick it up) will sit here in the corner waiting for the rest of the table to be delivered.

I'll keep you updated as things happen.

P.S. The guys at Wood Robot are offering matching chairs but at the price they want, I expect I'll buy Woodward Rubberwood Side Chairs from Wayfair instead. I plan to get at least six chairs and Woot Robot's price of $299 for two is a bit much for even me.
