Here's another thought.
Seemingly unrelated, but, I believe, relevant.
It just seems to me that you have made a string of poor decisions regarding employment.
You seem to gravitate toward jobs with low pay and little or no room for advancement.
Since working for the private sector seems to yield unsatisfactory results for you, perhaps you should consider applying for positions with your local county government.
Among the advantages are:
Decent pay
Room for advancement
Great benefits
Retirement
Reserves/Gaurd are still an option if you insist on going military
Job security ( at least given my experience dealing with county employees, it seems hard to get yourself fired.)

Another option, for the reasons listed above, would be the postal service.

I hope this helps.

I think you should definitely do Something! Imo, the army isn't a bad idea for a complete restart. If you really want to do it, don't let anyone talk you out of it - just go for it!

Join the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the hiring process sucks but you get to be part of the law enforcement community and belong to something bigger than yourself. Good advancement opportunities as well, good benefits, you are still young enough to do 20 years before the mandatory retirement age of 57.

Well its important to know. The military is a meat grinder. I turned 18 in bootcamp. 25 years later, Ive seen it all.

If your not prepared to take ordes from a 20yr old and eat babies on command. Your dreaming.

Its not all rainbows and unicorn farts. Its a job no one wants to do and no one cares that you do it.

Literally making sausage. It will be made, no one cares how its done. Now put yourself at the lowest level. At 35yrs old. No thanks.

Im 44 and retired after 25yrs and 11 pay grades. Perspective for you.

At 20yrs old I was sawing off college slack jaws on a daily basis.

Yeah! A massive for profit industry that has allowed slavery by the back door, destroys lives and thrives on human misery! woohoo!

As you are a graduate, try to enter as an officer.

If you aren't the sort to pound nails into rocks with his fist there is still room for you in a support role, in fact at your age is probably better option, especially if you are competent.

Have you considered navy? While there are lots of shore based desk jobs, most support roles float alongside the combat arm.

EXACTLY THIS!!!! With a degree, go officer. Sure, you will have some minimum physical standards, but nothing outrageous, especially with the Navy or Air Force.

Some alternative ways to get a common sense of purpose and belonging:

- join a volunteer fire department
- become a reserve deputy
- join a good martial arts program
- volunteer for community programs

I second the Martial Arts suggestion.

2 years in Anshin Ryu Karate. 2 months in Jiu Jitsu. According to my family its made a massive change in my confidence.

And it'll help you learn useful skills for Law Enforcement or the Military.

I didn't think the army allowed you to join after a certain age unless you join as an officer (which you will need a degree to do)
