Now, we like big books. (And we cannot lie. You other readers can’t deny, a book flops open with an itty-bitty font, and a map that’s in your face, you get—sorry! Sorry!)
If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".
“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”
Soulfly (Max Cavalera's post-Sepultura band) is touring and playing this record, a beautiful slab of industrial thrash metal recorded in the early 90s featuring most of the Sepultura lineup and Fudge Tunnel's Alex Newport. Also guesting Dino Cazares of Fear Factory.

Been playing a lot of GTA Online lately. Here are a couple I hear a lot on the radio. One is really good, the other just got stuck in my head one day and nearly drove me mad. GUESS WHICH IS WHICH!
This incredible Norwegian has dozens of high quality metal covers of popular songs. His enthusiasm is infectious and comes through in these fantastic songs.

I'm addicted to this soundtrack, and I'm seeing the film again on Wednesday.
I may have a slight problem...
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

"You need not fear us, unless you are a dark heart, a vile one who preys on the innocent; I promise, you can’t hide forever in the empty darkness, for we will hunt you down like the animals you are, and pull you into the very bowels of hell." Iron - Within Temptation
Been listening to a lot of Sigur Ros recently, trying to relive the experience of seeing them live in Reykjavik over New Years.
If you ever get the chance to see them live, do it. Their live shows are phenomenal.
^The finale for Popplagid, which they use to close the show, recorded by me on a phone camera
Alternatively, almost the entire show (there were streaming issues for the first ten to twenty minutes) is available for free on their youtube channel:

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.

Really diggin in to Talking Heads lately. Anyone who grew up in the 80's like me heard the hits for 20 years but only recently have I discovered just how awesome they truly were, and what a creative genius David Byrne is. This is 'Born Under Punches', my favorite from a live recording that's worth watching as well:
