I don't get it. Are you being serious?

Dead serious.

The models holding their axes two handed are, I believe, holding them right handed (the lower hand being the dominant hand? I'm righ hand dominant and that's how I'd hold one,) then there's several models holding weapons in both hands (and the empty hands free SG has been unlocked so you can replace the weapon in the left for the elimination of doubt.) That's most f them isn't it?

Again. Are you really being serious?!

Pure speculation, haven't seen anything confirmed, but a similar sized resin cast from Mierce is in the £23-£30 bracket, which seems a good comparison in size, material and general production quality.

Definitely some nice looking minotaurs, especially the first one in the thread.

It really depends on what you're doing with that axe.
Splitting logs? Yeah, right hand on the lower end.

Splitting humans? I think I would have the right hand near the axe head, because you're not doing much overhead swings but more slashing?

On another note, are there scale comparison shots with GW/Mierce minotaurs?

I see that there has been a previous campaign with this company: does anyone have any experiences with that campaign or the company independent of that? (Or a link to previous Dakka discussions)

I'm rather surprised that the 4 female (non-minotaur) miniatures are not more prominent as a selling point of the campaign; for about $20, 4 resin female figures that look like that seem to be a great deal. That's one reason I'm curious about previous campaigns... I've experienced the pain of expecting fine ladies and getting soap featured dolls with the first Relic Knights and am not eager to repeat the experience.

Zealot did the casting the first Minion KS project that funded and I was very happy with the big monsters that I got from them

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1629942774/minion-miniatures-the-monsters-of-underdeep?ref=discovery

and they ran their own resin scenery KS around the same time which from the chat on the reaper board was well received quality wise

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1207385459/twisting-catacombs-miniature-dungeon-scenery?ref=discovery

http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/56332-zealot-miniatures-dungeon-scenery-ks/&page=11

but the big blow up on the resin scenery and the Minion project contributed in part at least both being 4-6 months late, to much to cast and not enough capacity at the time

Minion used them as caster (and I think 3D printer) for their next too KS as they were pleased with the results from the first one despite the delays

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1629942774/minion-miniatures-the-monsters-of-underdeep-2?ref=profile_created

again I got a big monster (a Minotaur) from that one and was very happy with it

quality wise id put them close to Mierce for big resin beasties

(none of the stuff I've got from them has had quite the amount of small detail fiddly detail I got on some of my Mierce stuff has which is the only reason I hesitate to say as good but that's down to the sculpts going in not the casting)

I see no reason for the ladies not to match the renders especially based on the Minon stuff I have and especially the comments about the (smaller details on the) dungeon terrain but I cant personally vouch for them on human sized stuff

(there were dakka threads on the two Minion projects, i'm fairly certain I ran at least one of them but for some reason the Search isn't finding them and i'm guessing there would have been one about the dungeon terrain too, but again no hits)

It can go both ways, in my experience. I usually hold a pollaxe with my right hand up, except when I am using it to thrust or catch shields in a line, when it is the other way around. Often if I am dueling a shieldman I will use left hand up but knuckles up, like that third minotaur there, kind of how people use a quarterstaff. Spears and pikes I always hold left hand up towards the tip. Oddly enough, I always split logs right hand up... never realize people did that differently

Other people are more variable, though. It seems to vary a lot based on who taught you, what fechtbuchs you read, and how many left handed guys are in your fighting group.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, and I kind of like the female minotaurs, but the points about the too small heads and not enough of a shoulder/hunch like the males have seem right to me. Maybe they just need more fur and armor on their shoulders to look similarly proportioned to the males.
Speaking of which, I would kind of like it if the males and females were closer in size, with a little less dimorphism. More hulking, muscular females would look better I think.

I got in on this one mostly for that berzerker minotaur.. so fierce! Tons of detail too, will be fun to paint. I like the other sculpts, the female one looks good.. but so far I'm just getting the one might add another when the pledge manager rolls around.

There's a silhouette of what looks to be a ballista carrying alt sculpt too.

Definitely cool , though I’d think a siege Minotaur would just have a cool helmet to ram the castle gates with.

He's great. I wish I could get them all, but I can only afford 1 or 2 :( I'm in for the berzerker and I'll see what else I can afford to add when the pledge manager rolls around.

Exactly my thought. When I force myself to imagine what a horrifying mutant walking cow-woman looks like, that's much closer to what unfortunately pops into mind than the slightly anthro-lookin' ones they were doing before. I really wish I could go in on this right now but I have to hold my budget for Newcromunda

EDIT: Damn, that's how you know it's a good design, it gives you ideas. A tribe of Beastmen for the Mordheim expansion Lustria Cities of Gold, a matriarchy ruled by the mutated spawn of Amazons kidnapped and exposed to wyrdstone. Damnit that's another variant list I have to write.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

Minotaurs, Riding Warbeasts?

Oh yes, we have indeed listened to all your suggestions about Mounted Minotaurs. Now, we are pleased to show the first Work In Progress of the Minotaur Raider!
Again, bear in mind this is at a very raw semi completed stage, and he is due to evolve like the others with more details before he is finished. I hope you like the direction Alexei is taking him in!

Don't face it's charge head-on!

Tough armoured mounts, One-Horns are one of the only creatures in the old world able to carry a Minotaur into battle.

With the rider standing over 100mm tall, this is certainly an imposing character piece

Scale Comparison

https://imgur.com/a/kSFKH

It's always useful to pin down sizes, so here we have the lineup of the entire crew Click the link above and expand the image to see a larger version.

A note with bases, the core minotaurs fit on the 50mm round bases (provided) but also snugly on 40mm square bases. The General, Matriarch and the Raider will have larger custom bases provided

Tomorrow we are in the last 24 hours Thank you again to everyone who has supported us here, to help bring the race of minotaurs a much needed update!

Core 4 Minotaurs (no general)
Shaman
Siege Minotaur
Two axes add-on
Great axe add-on
Extra hands add-on

And the two female minotaurs for Wehrkind!

Man, I don't know just how I feel about the matriarch. On the one hand, she is really horrid and creepy awesome. On the other... I just have zero idea what I would do with her, other than store her in a box somewhere.

Probably a purchase for a later day, along with all that nice terrain.
