There are a lot more problems with the price on the Ironstrider than the fact that it's not in a Start Collecting set. Same goes for the Sicarians.

And honestly, I think most people who play AdMech at this point would rather see the Onager get swapped with Kastelans or Kataphron.

I liked picking up the Eldar kit, but not as an actual Start Collecting box. I just needed some bikes and a tank - got it for $59 shipped...so not an awful price.

I agree it doesn't make much sense now, as a starter - though if you're "starting" and doing Open War then it doesn't matter much at all.

Dire Avengers are comically overpriced (particularly for being based on rather old Guardians), and Guardians are a pretty "meh" kit.

Lo and behold, Nids and Eldars get new ones.

To be honest, I wish I could justify getting the old and new SC for Eldar - but the Eldar I have are a "guest" army for my brother, and it looks like he'll never play them.

The 'nid SC though, I think is bad - it should be a Trygon/Mawloc, gaunts and Warriors. Certainly not genestealers (they aren't troops, correct?).

I like the Eldar one. Not love, as I’ve got some mixed feelings.

Wraithlord I want. The rules might suck, but hopefully that will change. But I like the way he looks, and he’s been on my “can’t justify getting” list, so seeing him in a discount box makes me happy.

Wraithguard I need. Again, I like the looks of them, and as I’ve been playing my Eldar more, I've found that I need some boots that can live more then a round when they disembark from the WS. These guys will be them.

Farseer. All my HQs on foot are metal. (I do own this guy, but made hime into a bike seer before they released the new one). But I could find a use for a seer with a spear on foot. So not needed, but not bad.

Warwalker is the dud for me. The rules look pretty decent, but I don’t like the model.

$46.25 - WL
$50 - WG
$30 - WW
$20 - Seer

$146.25 worth of stuff. If they keep the same price point, that’s a pretty decent bargain. As someone who was about to plonk down $50 for the WG alone, that makes it a no-brainer for me. And the price isn’t inflated with massively overpriced HQs either. Sometimes I think the only reason for the $30 clampacks is to make the bundle boxes look like a better deal then they are.

What I like about these two is that they're more 'toys you'll want'.

Nothing in those I'd consider to be particularly waff. And both can be bolstered up to a small army with just a couple of Troops choices.

Genestealers are Troops, at least according to the GW website.

Like I mentioned in the other thread, kinda torn on the nid one.

On one hand it's a good selection of rather usable models and nothing undesirable. However it will be dated very fast because it's based around the Trygon glory hole tactic right now. A more iconic one would be to have a squad of Warriors, a brood of Gaunts and a Carnifex (or better yet, a Tervigon).

The Eldar one leaves me equally torn. It is perfect if it had been labeled as a "Iyanden Start Collecting!" set, since it could be a good counterpart to, say, the SW or Deathwatch start collecting sets. but it seems to be the standard Eldar box, which should have been 1 farseer, 1 unit of guardians, 1 wave serpent, and either a vyper, warwalker, jetbike squadron or wraithlord (which would let it line up with the Dark Eldar Start Collecting box).

Basically, like the current Eldar Start Collecting Box, the moment the next update hits these will likely be invalidated and seen as trash, which I feel is a shame because the other start collecting boxes generally aged well (especially the Tzeentch one, which has all of the Tzeentch Daemon models except for tiny horrors, LoC and Changling).

I'm bothered by the new Tyranid Start Collecting... I do like the insertion of the broodlord though

I would happily pay the same price for:

- 3 Warriors
- 10 or 15 Gaunts
- Tervigon / Tfex
