Thanks, yeah I like it as well the more I look at it. Got to do some mocking up and blue tacked a sentinel together in an unorthodox way perhaps. What do you all think? I like the underslung multi-melta, but unsure if the chainblade works ok in the former weapon mount.

Thanks man, I like it as well the more I look at it now I have to make five more. Also I just discovered the Dakka Gallery tools so I’m going to take advantage of them to post up a quick update...

A friend of mine in my local 30k gaming community sold these to my for a bargain! I’ve ordered some more Victoria Miniatures Artillery Crew To man them! Very excited to get these on the field, never used quad mortars but I’ve heard they can be kinda a headache. However I am addicted to templates so I can’t help myself

Photo dump incoming! Got to play a game against a fellow member of my local SoCal 30K community. 2500 points, my Army of Dark Compliance vs his Iron Warriors!!! Gasp! Brother vs Brother! Much blood was spilled, but my men carried the day, although Siege Breaker Jivan was laid low by the enemy warsmith, only saved from certain death by the timely intervention of a cortus-contemptor (Honored-Brother Phrynon). Had a great time, and once again the Omega showed its worth. Anyway enough words! On to the picts!!!

My left flank is anchored on an decorated ruin, perhaps a pre-compliance Shrine of some sort. Here, Jivan and his Tyrant bodyguard prepare to decimate the foe from afar, while the Cortus-Contemptors lurk.

The enemy firebase, Iron Havocs and a Deredeo.

My right flank, anchored by the Omega, and swarming with militia. In the center you can also see the Medusa crews readying their guns.

The Medusa's take aim at the enemy armored convoy.

Lucky scatters - ehrm... I mean expert marksmanship... destroys the enemy Land Raider and Scorpion in one volley, decimating their center.

My thuderbolt arrives, but it salvos glance harmlessly off the Domitar... modified by the Primarchs own hands.

And predictably perhaps, the Deredeo swats my Thunderbolt out of the sky... AGAIN!

Enemy reserves arrive directly behind 1st Squad who thought they were going to be able to finish their Caf before the battle was over...

My cortus prepares to recieve a charge...

My outflanking sentinels eventually slag the damned Deredeo

Clash of titans...

3rd Squad bravely dies to the last soul defending an objective.

The combined fire of the Omega and 1st Squad lay low the majority of enemy Breachers

The Major Teresa attempted to melta-bomb the Termite

2nd Squad engages in a short range fire fire with enemy Tactical Legionnaires over another objective!

1st Squad charges the Breachers...

As the Tyrants do what the mortals of 3rd squad could not... drive the enemy Terminators away from the front line.

Siege Breaker Jivan engages the enemy Warsmith...

But is outclassed!

But even with their commander wounded... the rest of the army succeeds in wiping the enemy out, with Major Teresa destroying the final enemy unit (the Termite) with a well placed bomb before it could escape back down its burrow.

Hope you have enjoyed my game as much as I did! I might write up a battle report this week!

Thanks man! Appreciate the shout out. Iron Within! Iron Without!

Also I got a notification last night that REINFORCEMENTS HAVE ARRIVED!

The main course are these wonderful kits once again by Victoria Miniatures, two five man teams of Artillery Crews + Artillery Officer. Also since I spent over $50 I got ahold of the sweet mini of the month, a female sniper, looks like she stepped out of Enemy at the Gates (one of my favorite WWII flicks).

Five of them plus the officer will man the quad guns. The other five with some lasgun troopers will be manning the second set of reinforcements...

Figured my fusiliers could use some heavy weapon support and Victoria Miniatures was unfortunately out of Mortars when I placed my order, however these Kromlech lascannons were on ebay for cheap so I snapped em up. A 5 man squad could give me some good AT punch in my pure Militia list

After all this all I need is one more vanquisher leman russ and three sentinels to reach my 2500 pure militia goal for LVO 2019.

To be honest most of the people that I have run into are perfectly fine playing against a not entirely "model/mark" appropriate force, especially for a gamer who is just breaking into the scene. I'd say go for it! Its a blast!

Iron Within, Iron Without brother! I'll see you there!

Also I submitted my Siege-Breaker for a painting competition today. Had to write up a bit of a fluff piece for him and I also took some new photos of him after I touched him up a bit. The theme was "Unsung Heroes" basically those poor blokes who were just line officers of little note who fought and died in the Heresy. Here's the fluff and new photos of Siege-Breaker Jivan:

Grimly Jivan looked over the battlefield, the crump of weapons discharge deadened by his hulking cataphractii armor. Disturbed particulates pattered against the iron plates like rain. Distantly he registered the mortal soldiers of the Ezerum Fusiliers as they quickly went about the series of predetermined motions that would result in their Medusa batteries being readied to fire again. Like clock work. One mortal was pinned beneath a piece of rubble that had been blasted off the building Jivan was situated on. As he watched, a discipline master approached the screaming soldier while drawing a blast pistol.

Jivan remembered when he had been mortal. When he had been nothing. He was born to a mason’s apprentice. Yet even on Olympia, where the working of stone was of massive import, they had been little better than slaves. Father had been a drunk, and a dicer. The family was owned by their master before Jivan was even concieved. He had proved to be a gifted boy, and the Master took notice despite his age. From him Jivan learned the secret knowledge of stone, mathematics and engineering. The beatings his father meted out on him as a hollow revenge made that small privilege he enjoyed bitter.

The enemy vehicles began to advance, trying to outrun the reversed creeping barrage that had isolated and trapped them. Brief flashes of yellow armor could be spotting roving among the broken industrial sector to the left. Beside him massive forms in cataphractii plate moved into position, the auto-loaders on their shoulder mounted cyclone missile launchers cycling in anticipation.

“Not yet Garabev,” Jivan grated, anticipating the question. The terminator master stepped forward.

“Pardon Siege-Breaker, but do you intend to let them all the way to our front line?”

Jivan smiled despite himself, “If what I intend is still a mystery to you, the Primarch was right to keep you at your present station.”

Garabev tensed noticeably, but said nothing. Jivan ignored him. Jockeying for advance and favor was natural to Olympians, but like the Primarch, he saw it as a pointless distraction. What mattered was performing his duties to the best of his abilities at the current moment. He narrowed his eyes as the enemy moved into the kill zones he had identified hours before.

Yes he remembered. The year that the bickering and infighting between the city-states had ended. When the son of the Tyrant of Lochos had marched victorious into Jivan’s home, and slain the Tyrant. In the chaos that followed the conquest; his father had been killed. Many had thought it the result of a drunken brawl but Jivan knew the truth. He held his silence when the Master had berated him about the missing tool. A jagged awl. Jivan knew where it was, and where it had been. He had taken his fate in his own hands.

The support weapons of the Fusiliers were opening up now, and the forward rifle squads were falling back to the prepared positions, feigning a retreat. Jivan’s IVth legion elite were held in reserve, letting the mortal auxiliaries take the brunt, and lure the enemy onto their guns. His armors inbuilt command functions allowed him to see where each of his units were in real time, glowing runes hovered in his field of vision. To his left flank, a brace of contemptor dreadnoughts lurked deep in a ruined manufactorum, their powered down reactors masking their presence from the foes sensors. To the right Legionnaires in MkIII plate and boarding shields hugged cover, while tracked rapier platforms moved to support them. Overconfident, and encouraged by the perceived retreat of the mortals, the Imperial Fists continued their attack. The trap was set.

Jivan remembered that glorious day. When he had been one of the few selected to be sent to join the IVth Legion, to become an Iron Warrior. He had felt elated. True purpose awaited him. To impose order on the galaxy, and seek glory among the stars. Jivan had found a new family within the Legion, with the Primarch as their gene-father. The Terran veterans had failed to meet Perturabo’s exacting standards. Jivan and others like him were determined to be found worthy, no matter the cost.

But the IVth had almost become a forgotten Legion, relegated to unending sieges, and splintered by garrison duties. Its victories were never lauded. Over the course of the Crusade their spirit had been forged into something hard, cold, and bitter. The auxiliaries took to naming them Corpse Grinders. Jivan remembered crushing the skull of the first mortal who had uttered that term within earshot. Then had come the final blow, the rebellion on Olympia. To be the only Legion to bear the shame of a non-compliant homeworld was too much. They had been governed by rage and instinct then, not logic. The massacre that had followed only compounded the sin. There could be no turning back.

His thunder-hammer emitted cracking arcs of energy as blood and viscera was burnt off it. Methodically the Iron Warriors and their mortal auxiliaries moved among the broken forms of the VIIth Legion strike force, laying low those who still clung to life. Jivan registered the heat bloom as a tanks reactor cooked off behind a series of silos. The scent of burning ceramite, flesh, and promethium caught pleasantly in his lungs. As a member of the Stor-Bezashk, destruction was a part of Jivan, and he reveled in the aftermath of conflict.

Suddenly the roar of a bolter broke the stillness, and his armor shuddered as it received a direct hit. Instantly Jivan braced himself, turning to face the attack. Almost concealed in the heat-wash of a burning Predator wreck he could make out the form of an Imperial Fist, pinned beneath the dead tanks treads. The legionnaire was attempting to aim a bolter with his ruined left arm, and as Jivan watched, took another shot which missed.

He grunted, and stalked towards the Imperial Fist. Three more shots rang out before Jivan closed the distance and stamped down on the defiant legionnaires arm. Slowly he raised his thunder-hammer.

“Desist, lapdog. There is no redemption for you here.”

The legionnaire struggled, “Traitor! You and your father are both doomed.”

Jivan paused, and a thoughtful look crossed his face, “We may have been… for a long while at least, but now at least our fate is in our own hands.” A sardonic grin split his features, “Unlike yours.” With that, he let the hammer fall.

straight from ebay, in perfect condition, despite the fact that they came with the hull mounted heavy bolter instead of lascannon but I can work with that. Lets see those Spartans now!!! All they need is a new paint job to bring them in line with my macharius tanks.

also the final idea for those Thallax-Ogryns has congealed in my mind so hopefully I'll be able to throw up some WIP picks soon!

Ok getting to some major hobby time today, started work on the Thallax-Ogryn Prototype, what do you think? I'm thinking the chainblade hand I'll alternate between what you see now and a series of chain-bayonets from the Legion bolters kits arranged like fingers around the ball of the off hand. Also planning on experimenting more with poseability of the arms. It seems breaking the arm at the ball joint where it sockets into the body would be the bast way to get some better range of motion. Thoughts?

Fantastic army you have coming along here! It's good to see some more Victoria miniatures models around.

Interesting conversion on the ogryn-thallax I'm not sold on the chain axe, the chain-bayonet fist sounds a bit better, but might look a bit large (i've seen something simular done but on contemptors).

Also I really like your sentinel conversions.

I've been watching this since you started the thread, been meaning to post ...

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you like the sentinels, was an easy but fun conversion.

Yeah the chainaxe head does look a bit large or unwieldy doesn't it? I'll give the bayonet fist a shot today.

So after some pondering, raiding my bitz box, and some tinkering I think I came up with some Ezerum made, "Brute" class Thallax

Think my favorite is the one with the metal clamp in the running pose

What do you all think? At 365 points for the squad they certainly fill out my pure militia army list! Equipping them with Power Axes, and Carapace Armor, and Frenzon for RAGE!!! With the close combat weapons they come with base they can like like a ton of bricks with 30 attacks on the charge.

EDIT:

Not quite done yet, got some details to take care of, as well as decals and final weathering before I assemble it completely but thats how it will look hitting the table tomorrow.

Also got some paint on the Ezerum-Pattern Thallax

Don't worry they will look less like childrens toys when I finish with them

Also worked a bit on the engineseer and his servitors...

I'm planning on making the white trim into a checkered pattern, but I'm afraid at the moment he looks a bit like Santa Claus

And lastly starting on this wonderful Drummer Girl model by Victoria's Miniatures. Very characterful, and will represent a Discipline Master in my Imperialis Militia, solemnly playing the men and women of Ezerum across the battlefields of the Age of Darkness!

Sooo... sorry I haven’t been as active lately. New job and moving cut into my hobby time so once again I’m here with scant two weeks till LVO with a fair amount of painting left to do. However! I do have some hobby progress to report!

Firstly with some support, the Omega is completed to a table top standard!

Second we have five support weapon squads from Victoria Miniatures toting kromlech lascannons

Then the engineseer and his entourage tasked with keeping the tanks alive!

Also the thudd gun crews have been completed

And finally the drummer girl who will probably end up standing in as a discipline master

Still more to come! I really want to bring pure, 100% Ezerum raised Militia to the Horus Heresy event this year and will be keeping my nose to the grindstone to make it happen!
