Aye reading the other thread on thr captured soldier. It takes a felony charge or equivalent to get DD and that's a no guns allowed offence level.

The good person with a gun who stopped the bad person with a gun was a pretty damn good shot to have hit a fleeing target, wound him, and put an end to what could have been so damn much worse.

Question 11(g) on the 4473 form for FFL dealers; "Have you been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions?"
Anyone discharged under dishonorable conditions is not legally eligible to possess firearms.

The citizen who intervened could have saved countless lives if the remainder of the congregation were unable to flee/fight back

DD means you federally can't own/use firearms.

This thing where everyone on the internet is waiting to see the identity of the killer and his motivation before knowing what political arguments to start making is really horrible. Does this massacre 'help' my political causes, if so I should come out loud and proud for my issues, or does it hurt my causes, so I should attack people for politicizing a tragedy. It says a lot about a really broken political discourse.

Nitpick, but Club Fed is a reference to minimum security federal prison that is notoriously not all that much like prison at all. It's where the white collar federal criminals go. Its a play on Club Med.

You're still totally, 100% not getting what he was saying. He was wondering why you didn't see these kinds of spree killings back when you were able to more easily acquire more dangerous weapons. From 1900 to 1934, there were only 30 deaths in school shootings, and this was during a timeframe when you could buy a tommy gun from a hardware store.

Even after that, you could order weapons with no background check through the mail.

Back then they would just blow up the church and Lynch everyone that made it out. Church attacks are old business in the Americas.

Yep, I don't know what the truth is behind this shooter and honestly it doesn't matter. No matter what the truth is there will be rumours that he was a muslim, that he was antifa, and that's terrible and says terrible things about the people who spread those rumours.

But it is also a reflection of the rest of us, who see a tragedy like this and go looking for how it fits in to our existing poltical debates.

So... I've been awake about 20 minutes now, and these are I've found so far...

He was discharged from the Air Force in 2014, after being convicted in a Court Martial of assault in 2012. He served one year in jail, was given a Bad Conduct Discharge, and reduction in rank. He was not considered a felon.

He was engaged by a man who lived next door to the church, there was a short firefight between the two, and then the shooter retreated. The man who engaged him, as well as his girlfriend, pursued in a vehicle, and witnessed the shooter crash, and reported the location to the police. It's currently unknown if the shooter died because of a self-inflicted wound, or if the neighbor had shot him.

There has been many mentions of posts of his support of Antifa and their message, that he was an atheist, and an active supporter of Democratic candidates, on social media, but Facebook has shut his page down, so that's going to be pretty hard to confirm, at this time. Police are investigating his social media posting habits, and I'm sure we'll see details of that in the nearish future.

What seems to be verified info from his Linkedin account is that he was an at least relatively recently practicing Christian, as he taught summer bible school. Unverified Linkedin information I've seen shows interests in line with the unverified stuff in the above paragraph.

As is usual, there is a slew of bs being slung around the internet with this event. Some of the stuff I've seen in here is pretty sad, especially the guys I'm seeing it coming from.
