For RPG purposes I would love a lot more diversity in models. makes it easier to have more variety in chars.

Remember when Age of Sigmar was the death of Citadel's fantasy sales? And how some players were so furious with the bastardization of their favourite game that they burned their armies? And how despite all of the nerdrage, Age of Sigmar is not only more fun than Fantasy, the current sales put the old system to shame? It's almost like the lore means nothing compared to money. The canon isn't sacrosanct, it isn't etched in stone for all time; it's a sales pitch, and for a company who pride themselves on selling miniatures for wargames, you'd expect a sales pitch to be dynamic. If GW were to find out that female Space Marines would sell incredibly well, you can bet your hat that Belisarius Cawl would suddenly have a breakthrough in his tinkering. And that's not left-wing identity politics; that's capitalism, the system of the free. Don't like it, don't buy it. And if it's too much for you, then leave.

Just because it's your hobby doesn't mean the hobby is yours.

In a nut shell diversity means get rid of lots more whites

Imagine spending a year on Dakka, and this being the very first thing you choose to post.

I know that wargaming is stereotypically for shut-ins, but you must be some next level NEET to not realize that diversity and representation is about balancing character depictions with reality.

And what's with this infantile concept of object permanence? The fact that you see more people who aren't white dudes must mean that white dudes are disappearing? What?
Humouring that for a moment, if white people are on the decline, and what remains is a more diverse population, why would GW not change things to better cater to them? When faced with a new audience or bankruptcy, why would any company be stupid enough to hold on to nationalist sentiments?

And this is the root of the problem, people so used to seeing an all-majority cast in a media form, that when they see gay characters, or black/asian/indian/whatever characters, they immediately decide that it’s “pandering”, instead of thinking critically and wondering what a woman sees when they look at that game. Imagine looking at a game and all of the characters are minorities, or gay, and you can’t identify with any of them. That’s what women and minorities see on a daily basis. You’re not being discriminated against, you’re just not getting 100% representation at the cost of all else anymore.

Thank you for your common sense. OP should take this nonsense back to 4chan/reddit. I don't wanna see another gamergate start here.

GW - If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

Funny thing: from the title, I clicked with the impression the first post would be about the lack of diversity in GW products (or GW itself).

Ah, optimism.

I'm all for diversity. Bring on the female models, I'll be happy to purchase some for my Guard. Hell even Space Marines (but some fluff to go with that change would be good).

Pandering, IMO is when someone feels the need to change established characters into females. I'd much rather see new characters rather than female Thor, James Bond, etc. But then creativity is dead, which is why we get sequels/remakes Ad nauseam.

Is that really true? I think I could sink a battleship if I loaded it with the dust on the Age of Sigmar models at the LFGS. I know of two people who play it, with each other. I know another 3 or 4 who play Kings of War with their old armies. Fantasy certainly died locally.

Speaking of diversity, the mod watching this thread is playing it against type.

I wonder if it's an international difference, the way the LotR game was. Because most of the LGSs near me are the same way. Their GW sections shrank from dominating to a small corner and a couple of owners almost broke their relationship with GW completely. One held off on the promise of specialist games like necromunda (though I wonder how he put up with the long wait)

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
