How exactly?

Leman Russ was described as "loyal to a fault". Thats why Horus tricked him into attacking Magnus. He couldn't corrupt Russ to his side, so he needed to distract the guard dogs because he could't take them on with his current forces.

None of that changes if the Wolves don't attack Prospero.

So was Lorgar. How did that work out once the Emperor betrayed him?

Yes. Because the Emperor betrayed him. How does that happen with Russ? There isn't any betrayal going on that would shatter his loyalty.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Leman Russ seemed pretty willing to start turning on his brothers if Nicea went against him. I'd say the Emperor would keep Magnus, Lose Russ and both sides would have psykers.

The Imperial Webway would have been built, with Magnus guarding the Warp side and Dorn guarding the Mortal side.

This would have meant additional reinforcements in the defense of Terra. I think the emperor likely would have made it, with Magus being able to teleport.

The Emperor would ascend, but Chaos would still be there. We'd have a game with Leman Russ as a Khorne Prince, Magnus as a leader of psyker loyalists. The eternal war would continue and other than a faction swap and some slightly different Imperial technology not much would change.

Just realized that you wouldn't then be able to call them Leman Russ tanks. I'd be deploying Rogal Dorn or Robert Gulliman tanks.

Given how early Magnus was corrupted by Tzeentch, back before Magnus was even re-united with his legion, I don't think putting him on the Golden Throne would have ever worked out.
