Too much walking. Too much falling. Too much inventory bloating. Too much changing equipment, as if nothing was learned from the iron boots. Too much weapon breaking, as if anyone bothered fixing Biggoron's sword. Too much desolate, isolated, silent survivalism with occasional fragments of retro melodies and, for some reason, the Nokia ringtone. Too many instant death enemies early on, too much access to healing and teleportation later on. Too much abilities frontloading. Too much incentive to sandpaper enemies with infinite grenades. Too much mist and dim or excessive light for a scavenger hunt on a 6" screen. Too many physics fails in a 'try to see what works' sandbox. Too many recipes. Too much uncertainty as to what you can safely sell. Too much waiting for the rain to end. And apparently I've got some questionable content to look forwards to in Gerudo Desert.

Absolutely delightful animation and writing, but that's not enough to carry an attempted tribute to Daggerfall and Monet that misses both. Hyrule Warriors felt more like Zelda than this.

I know things are subjective, but really? The worst game of the year?

I thought it was practically a work of art, and one of the most skillfully designed games I have ever played. But, there you go!

I think DoW3 was pretty disappointing.

Aside from that, Battlefront was a marketing disaster.

Did Mass Effect 4 come out this year? It was pretty awful.

Don't forget, according to our totally honest and capable and passionate gamer press, any game that is more than 'Press X to watch new cutscene' is totally THE DARK SOULS OF [insert genre]

2017 was my first year without a console system. I didn't miss it.

Hmmm I’m a massive Star Wars fan like a lot on here and I wanted battlefront 2 to be so good I really did, but yeah my vote goes for Battlefront 2.
Looks pretty and all but my god is it boring to play. Too much run and gun while you are alive for the few mins or often seconds that you are.

Would have been better if it was just a re skin of battlefield, not to mentions the levelling up system.

It's a hot take, certainly.

Worst game? Probably ME:A and Star Wars Battlefront II

Most disappointing for me was DoW 3. Oh, what it could have been....

I give Destiny 2 the award for most disappointing. I haven't played anything that was hot garbage. It was just so mediocre. I don't know anything about who I'm shooting. The big bad was one dimensional. Putting together a co-op team was a major chore. I wanted it to scratch my shoot n loot Borderlands itch, but it didn't. The game looks and runs well. I finally finished the story with a friend, but have no desire to shell out more cash for the DLC. I usually don't spend much on video games. This was the most I've spent in about 10 years on a single game, and the dollar to entertainment ratio didn't pan out the way I hoped.
