So, since GW likes to leave rules in beta for a long time from what we've seen so far, the question becomes: is NOVA going to use our new beta rules?

I guess while I'm bothering you: with no Imperial Armour release in sight, can Custodes players use the beta rules for their new units too?

We will be using the beta rules.

Which Custodes beta rules in particular are you referring to?

Forgeworld published beta rules for using the Caladius Grav-Tank, Coronus Grav-Carrier, Contemptor-Achillus Dreadnought and the Contemptor-Exemplar Dreadnought in 8th Edition.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/02/13/adeptus-custodes-forge-world-beta-rules-and-codex-faqgw-homepage-post-4fw-homepage-post-2/

They won't get real rules until an Imperial Armor comes out for Custodes as I understand it and there's no rumors of one of those being anytime in the foreseeable future.

I'll discuss it with our rules team and get back to you.

Thank you!

Now there is an additional beta unit for consideration:

As of now, it's very unlikely we'll use these beta rules.

Please don’t use beta rules for units Mike.

When does the super swag bag go on sale?

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.

Sad news to hear, but thanks for getting back to us!

And ignore Primark, he's just hoping all Custodes are pure bike spam so wants to cut down on the competition.

The Super Swag Bag and everything else went on sale on March 1 and lasted quite literally 4 seconds.

We are down to 14 x 40K GT tickets, and much of the rest of the con is sold out, nearing 2000 attendees already, which was last year's final total.

Can someone explain how deployment is chosen? I was reviewing the primer and it mentions 3 types of deployment on average per mission. The mission is decided for each round by the TO? Then when rolling for deployment the person who wins the roll picks both the map type and the side from the available choices?

The final packet will fix deployment. We are also releasing a revised mission packet that will do so in just a couple days.

Well I signed up for AoS. It was going to be a rough decision but 40k selling out so quick made it easy

What are the odds of the 40k Waitlist shrinking? Are they're a lot of drops usually? Would it be worth it to just show up?

A) Are you on the wait list?
B) Yes, it's probably worth it to show up

Traditionally, there will be people who will drop over the next 2.5 months due to various reasons and things coming up in life, and the wait list will get processed through. Additionally, not everyone ON the wait list will show up hoping for a spot, and there's usually an attrition of around 10-15 players most years who simply no-show b/c they can't come but just didn't bother or consider dropping their registration or letting us know.

Right now, the wait list is around 60 players, which I think probably has a decent chance of getting through a fair bit of it in "practice" if you show up, simply b/c of the aforementioned variables.

But that's obviously no guarantee

Personally, I'd really like as many wait listers as possible to show up, as I'd love to fire at precisely 256 - the format works really well every year, but it hits a point of absolute karma at a proper # ratio to the round total, and it would be really special to hit it.

If by some chance you are unable to get in, there's also a million things to do both 40K related and in general, ranging from comedians and live music in the charity lounge, to jumping in as a ringer or judge when needed, to playing in narrative and recon squads (and if it's out in time, kill teams) events, to shadespire and necromunda, etc. None of which may be up your alley OVER the GT, but the point is there are things to get into and enjoy regardless.

Question about the website and wait lists. Will the website automatically update your position on the list if someone in front of you gets a ticket? Or will we stay at the position we are and just have to hope for the best?

Mike - thanks for your work on the event, I always have a blast at the GT!

I do have questions about some of the updates to the primer. Specifically the Tailored Ops and the new clause "You may not earn more than one point for destroying any one unit. If such a unit would award points to multiple Ops, you must decide which it scores at the time it is destroyed." I understand the reasoning for this, but it may cause confusion.

For example, how does 'Cull the Hordes' interact with other secondaries like 'Marked for Death'? If I destroy 10 models, and then destroy another 10-man unit that I've Marked for Death, do I get MfD and CtH? What if the order was reversed? The wording of the rules might suggest that in the first case I could only score 1 point, whereas in the second case I would score 2 points.

There would be similar issues with a lot of the Tailored Ops that depend on killing units/models like Moment of Bloodshed, Headhunter, and Old School to name a few where the order in which people kill units could impact their score.

I appreciate any clarification on this, and I'm otherwise liking the new changes!

We're working to clarify that now, so good catches.

The long and short is that all of the Tac Ops that are achieved by killing a specific unit can't be stacked, and our clarifications will make that read correctly.

So, Moment of Bloodshed and Cull the Hordes are unaffected.

But if you Mark a 10-Wound Warlord for Death and select Old School and Big Game Hunter, you cannot score all 3 when you kill the Warlord. You'd only be able to score one of them (thus it wouldn't necessarily be a very good choice, since you'd automatically miss out on 2 of 3 points you committed to the choice).

More realistic scenario is your opponent has 5 Troops and you Mark 4 of them for Death while selecting Strike the Rank and File. If you kill one of the Marked troops, you have to decide then and there whether you are scoring the point for Strike or Marked. You can't score 2 points for the kill.

Will the 40k narrative kill team events continue to use their modified 40k rules even if the new kill team game is released? Important question before I commit to buying an army.

If KT is out in time, they'll go KT. The game is frankly amazing and impossible not to pivot to.

How is "in time" defined? And how do you know it's amazing? Did I miss a rules preview? My main concern is the long lead time on getting my models bought and painted, if the army construction rules for the new KT are changing that's going to be a big problem without a month (or more) of preparation time.

I think it likely that if Kill Teams releases before July ends, we'll adopt it.

Otherwise not only would attendees not have time to adjust, we wouldn't have time to digest the rules among the team, calibrate the missions (if they work) for organized play, etc.

And I say it's awesome because I'm a tester. It's super awesome and super accessible.

Got it, so non-public information but reliable. Can you say anything about the army construction rules? The current document specifies a 200 point army chosen by the normal rules (other than one under-strength unit). Do the new rules use the same 40k codices and point costs or an entirely different "codex" specifically for kill team? Will an army that is legal under the current event rules continue to be legal in the new game, even if it isn't optimal for winning? Will the differences be small enough to only change a model or two? Or should we expect major changes to the point that it isn't worth committing to a set of models until the rules for the event are chosen and final? And do you know if/how FW rules (like DKoK) will be supported?

Update - we may simply, if it is out in time, run standalone KT events and leave Recon Squads as is. We'll keep folks posted on this front as we get info, but unfortunately we're unlikely to know about the release date any sooner than the rest of the community.

The 40K GT Wait List is starting to move along. Make sure you've added yourself to it by logging into the store with an account and clicking "add to wait list" on the 40K GT entry if you want to retain a shot at getting in.

The primer is now super final.

We'll definitely be holding KT events at NOVA this year.

It's getting pretty exciting over at NOVA HQ! 58 days

Age of Sigmar is now sold out, though make sure you wait list if interested, as we're working to add a few more slots to it.

Kill Team Pods went up for sale yesterday, with 4 x 8-player pods every full day of the con (Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun) and a championship round for winners from previous days on Sunday. Despite the rules not being out, we've already sold over 40% of the total tickets available, so move on those fast.

What are the odds of getting into 40k Competitive if you in the mid 20's of the wait list? Does it drop a lot as we get closer? How many no shows do you usually have?

The odds are probably very good. Usually we have ten to twenty people who can't attend but don't bother to tell us or drop their tickets, and not everyone on the wait list will show up. I wouldn't abandon that spot in your shoes.

Any resources or place to look with people willing/able to share rooms? I am traveling from Canada and hoping to meet some fellow gamers!

This is probably as good a place as any. You could also try the NOVA Facebook page. If I hear of anyone looking, I'll also let them know you asked here.

Also, of 112 Kill Team Tourney tickets available, only 49 remain.
