I've played Sisters as a main army for decades. Collection in 8th is just beyond 2k points, and I do well. They have good survivability, cheaper than SM's, and a few really hard hitting units. My opinion is they have to be played as a combined arms force, not spam a couple of units. They are also not a super alpha strike army as I play them, but a deal with all comers style. Their biggest weakness for me is ranged anti-tank. Multi-melta's are weaker than lascannons but cost more...if repentia ride their transport into CC with cannoness' buff, they can smoke just about anything.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

Sisters from day one. I have 8k + of painted Sisters spread out over three different armies. Bloody Rose, Argent Shroud, and the latest which incorporates my original Sisters army (who were stolen out of my car after an event in 3ed but finally came back to me two years ago) that I have turned into a mixed order crusade force that represents all of the six original Orders. I have over 30 painted vehicles in those armies and still over 100 Sisters models yet to be converted and painted and six Exorcists still NIB.

I would be massively surprised if Sisters got a new unit in an upcoming dex, and even moreso if I couldn't convert them from the metals I still have.

A ton of armies and a terrain habit...

Back when I got into the hobby 10+ years ago the SoB metals were already looking dated. I like the art but couldn't be bothered with the miniatures. If they were plastic, which is a much easier material to deal with i'd definitely take some interest. But the art style and quality of the models is 1990s necromunda level and I just don't like em...though i'm sure at the time they came out the were fine.

Have a squad or two plus Veridiyan and Celestine. Mostly waiting for the plastic although I'll probably add a squad or two of the metal sisters to my existing force.

same here, he plays 90% sisters with a knight.

If they do make them in plastic, in addition to what's released I will buy a squad of metal seraphim just cuz I like how they look.

Sisters were my starting army and my only army. I used to have crons and grey knights but decided to fet out of the hobby. Sold the crons off and the grey knights. When it came to my near 3k points of sisters though, i struggled so hard to bring myself to sell them due to my emotional investment. Put them on ebay, got heaps of followings but took it down when some tossa was trying to convince me to sell them for 200 bucks.
Held onto them and so glad that i did. Added the new Celestine model to the collection as well as a couple of 3rd party models.
Connect a chain to their carry case and its a perfectly good wrecking ball

I have no issue with the modeling side of sisters mostly because i dont like modeling. Its not part of my hobby. I like painting and about 3/4 of my 80 odd girls and various tanks and other ministorum units are fully painted.
In fact i hate working with plastics. I dont like having to put together fiddly plastics and getting rid of mould lines and worry about plastic glue smear. I love the metals. I dont know how people work with plastic.

I have played sisters since they first came out and built up a pretty big army over the decades. I recently just sold a 5k point painted army of them and still have about 3k painted and about 4k in my to do boxes. I love the models ( the look, converting, painting and in the game). I have some pretty large armies and I don't consider any of them my main army, just what I feel like painting or playing at the time. For example, I have been playing alot of SoB and Deathwatch for the last year but recently have been bringing out my harlequins and doing different armies for them and painting up some Admech and Tau. However, my favourite army is probably sisters.

14k Generic Space Marine Chapters
20k Deathwatch
10k Sisters of Battle
3k Inquisition
4k Grey Knights
5k Imperial Guard
4k Harlequins
8k Tau

I want to get some, think they could be a fun addition to an Imperial soup army, if just to up the representation. You don't get a race spanning thousands of star systems without some ladies, after all. When I got back into the hobby last year, I had a look at what models I could get from various armies I'd been interested in when I last played (3rd-ish) and saw all the nice new (to me) plastics for my old favourites Blood Angels, Orks, Chaos, Eldar (okay, we've still got a long way to go there) and Tau. There was even a lot of choice in newer armies, and more since, but Sisters are still using the same models as when I left?! I'll wait for plastic.

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page

So what if a guy wanted to look at alternative Sisters where would he go?

I would love to say feth it and drop $200 for one squad but I've got my financial limits, which by the way, GW is fast approaching. Even if I were a fly ass mofo making bricks I still wouldn't just plunk down that kind of cash.

Grishnak makes the best looking SoB alternatives, but good luck ordering them from Russia, and there's only 5 variants (resin).

Dreamforge makes power armored troopers that could be male or female, so give them female heads from another range. They're plastic, which is a bonus. They did make specifically female versions (Panzerjagers), but they're not on their webstore, so good luck finding them. This is probably the best option but lacks any iconography (good/bad). Also, they're having a President's Day sale at the moment, so 20 rifle troops are $40 USD. They also have a plastic APC to sub in for a Rhino.

Raging Heroes is making a SoB substitute army, but they're still fulfilling their KS that funded them, so expect a delay before you can even order them. Resin, and probably not cheap.

You could build GW Sisters of Silence as SoB, but you're still looking at $10 CAD per mini, which defeats the purpose.

Wargames Exclusive makes a few models (fairly pin-up-ey) for some variant character models.

Eisenkern Valkir assault troopers from dreamforge. Switch out the heads for bare female heads or not!Sisters helmets and you got something that imo looks better than the actual SoB.

It's not $200 per squad, it's more like $50USD.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

I would start a SoB army if they came out in plastic, but until then I just can't stomach it. They are the only other army I would start, most likely.

The Grishnak models look great, but in addition to the lack of poses, they're also tiny and scale poorly with modern GW models.

Its a pity but nobody got attracted from the metal models.

Have been playing Sisters since they came out in 2nd. Love the army but swore off GW since 2008 until they make plastic SOB. 8th ed sucked me in though. But I justified it since they did make the plastic saint who is great.

A friend of mine started out with sisters years ago, he quickly switched to guard due to the complete lack of support. He has a large army now that could have been SoB. I've wanted to start a Sisters army for over a decade but haven't for the same reasons.

A few squads. Do I use them for 40K? Nope, the last time they were in a battle was perhaps 15 years ago. But I use some of the models nowadays either for the Zombies!!! or for the Doom boardgame.

SOB force
HQ: Principalis
Core: 10-woman SOB squad
Assault: Two 5-woman seraphim squads
Transport: Rhino

Their power armour was painted green and their hair a fiery red as would be fitting for a bunch of serious witch hunters. They were used once in a battle to fight alongside my catachans as allies.

Do I wish/hope/pray for plastic sisters? Wake up people, GW will never revamp the whole line. These few new models that were released are purely intended as soup components or for collectors.

The only 40k army I have is Sisters, about 2000 points I guess.
Played literally just one game of 8th, and it was yesterday. It was pretty nice, mostly because my opponent was.
I don't think I played a game of 7th.
If plastic Sisters are release I would certainly go back to playing a lot more I guess.

Never had any interest in SOB. I find their army concept to be verging on nonsense. Not the bit about ladies though, that’s fine. It’s them all having power armor when no other humans short of inquisitors can get their hands on it that is silly. Yet someone we have entire armies of nuns in human sized power armor. But the tempestuous scions are stuck with carapace?

I have owned a Sisters of Battle force since they originally came out. Squad of Seraphim, three full squads of Sisters, a couple of characters and a pair of Rhinos and a pair of Immolators (the metal ones).

But then again, I may be odd as I can field a Necron force whose troops are all metal, including Destroyers and Scarabs.

Yeah, I would totally add some plastics if they came out- providing GW doesn't change the design or scale.

Sitting on around 2.5k sisters. My main army at the moment. Back at my LGS, I was the only sisters player, but around half the people at the store have told me at one point or another that they'd start an army of them if they were:

A: in plastic
B: Cheaper
C: Both

This is a group that tends to start with 2k armies and grow from there.

2K+ of Sisters I've been playing and slowly expanding since 4th Edition. They are my main army, with the occasional Guard detachment thrown in at higher point levels. I've even spent more money on them in 8th Edition because now I really need those Imagifiers, to round out my Dominions Squads, and get a third useful Battle Sister Squad for my Battalion.
