I like version 2- much more industrial- and will be stealing the idea for the jig....

Yeah, the first version were more "woodland public path".

I was going to suggest using some L-shaped uprights (can get from Evergreen) with plastic rod across them. It's what was in my wind-turbine section build and what I used in my recent workshop. Good, easy and realistic (considering one of those was from real CAD drawings)...

...but version 2 is excellent.

Strangely enough, I did consider the L shape uprights - very functional and quick to put together, hence I went with the hard route...

No updates today, I did manage to bend lots of wire into shape (enough for another half dozen railings), but felt bleurgh most of the day so gave up and had a lazy day watching football and F1....

Update on the Taurox

As some may be aware, on my annual pilgrimage to Salute, I picked up some Zinge Industries 'miscast' Taurox axles for a couple of quid. was never happy with my own version of the axles - just too flimsy for my liking... Soooo, hacked off some plastic and hey presto...

Much better

For those interested, spoilered below are the old blog pages relating to the six-wheeled Taurox conversion I began back in 2016 (afterSalutte 16 in fact)

Not bad for a miscast . I really like that lenghtened look. The Taurox is great for conversions, but I just can't like the basic model.

I was able to get to a Salute in Harrogate, North Yorks when I was stationed there back in the '90's- is this the same event?

Great looking terrain!

Nope, Salute has always been London based and is run by the South London Warlords gaming club. Back in the early 90s it was held at Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall. There are some other shows that have, and still do, use the name Salute though.

Had some glorious weather in my part of the Kingdom these last few days, spent a good deal of time outside, topping up my Vitamin D levels - but did manage to get productive with the soldering iron and the metal handrails...

that jig...it´s clever...really amazing...how did you get these grooves in the mdf?...lots of hard work?

I'm guessing Dremel tool with a router type bit. Possibly with the router base attachment and a fence for the straight lines.

That's how I would do it.

The neo-Taurox much better. Soon it is ready for paint?

Vik wins - it's hand carved / cut using a good old fashioned Stanley knife - Scored the basic shape, then gradually sliced out the grooves.

A Dremel would have been way quicker....

Paint?? What's that?

Looking good! Why did you solder them on? For the 'welded' effect? And didn't it melt the plasticard?

Apologies for the very overdue reply.... For the welded effect, yes - plus I've never had much luck getting this type of wire to stick with glue. It is though glued to the model - which is just cereal card over MDF, no soldering in this stage

And now - time to reboot the reboot... Hobby mojo has been at an all time low the last few months. I bought some copies of the 40k Conquest partworks, thinking that would kickstart my desire, but alas no. And then, I was flicking around Amazon and saw a game selling for 38% off the RRP and I though, yes - this is what I need

Let's see how this goes, spent the evening washing all the models and then moved on to the super glue stage. Mold lines need cleaning then a liberal coat of primer and on we go.

For anyone interested in the deal, the game is currently selling for £49.70 - linky: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B076JNSDGL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Damned lucky I'd say... I worked out it was a minimum of £800 for this collection
