Well, because no-one who becomes with the blue goo really dies - it's all interconnected. Io, Eros, Venus ... it's all the one "creature".
But i thought he nuked himself, no?
OK, gonna give the whole thing a rewatch.
I also noticed the guy who played Kovacs' original sleeve in AC is in it.

OK...I am now actually, literally furious that those colossal berks at Syfy cancelled this show. This was my favourite sci-fi show on TV right now, but that episode specifically is almost certainly going to be one of the best bits of sci-fi TV I've seen, full stop.

Yes. Season 3, which is currently airing and has one or two episodes until the season finale, will be aired. It's less "cancelled" and more "they're not picking it up for season 4". It has everything to do with production/distribution it seems, with SyFy being a bit salty over the fact that they don't get exclusive distribution rights/streaming revenue. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that they're not going to try to bottle the property up as "theirs" and prevent anyone else from going forward.

Nah two more episodes to go for this season. It's pretty evident the show's creators weren't expecting Syfy to gak the bed, they're tying stuff off to prep for a big cliffhanger.

They finished filming the season several months ago...

Great show, but this season has gotten a lil dumb story wise so far, why couldn’t the confession made by the secretary of def be broadcast publicly on general channel? I mean in our time we already have YouTube and such, they have to try and somehow get it to the president’s ear via old campaign friend/flame. The maIn bad guys somehow did a 180, and have a soft heart, come on...

Remember what happened last time someone broadcast huge revelations to the whole system? I mean, I don't know that the situation can get more fethed than "all out war", but telling everyone everywhere that the UN Undersecretary killed the Martian defence minister, blew up a Martian ship, and the whole war is a sham would certainly mean we would have found out The bad guys comment I'm not sure I get, do you mean Mao's arc over the last few episodes? Because that wasn't a 180, it was a really quick 360 to demonstrate once again that the man is a complete scumbag who'll sacrifice anyone, that his daughter wasn't a one-off, circumstantial thing, he's just a monster. Or do you mean the doctor guy at the airlock? Because that wasn't him actually having a soft heart, he was being a slimy bastard to try and improve his chances of surviving.

I meant the mao dad, he suddenly had a soft heart for the young girl, then when there was a chance of success, he realize he’s a monster, I saw through the doc at the air dock like you said.

Aye but that was the point, he never wasn't a monster he's just desperate to believe he isn't. Mei was a complete innocent who also reminded him of his daughter before they were estranged, but even that wasn't enough to stop him indulging his obsession at her expense when it came right down to it.

Yeah I figure either they were hoping we would forget about it, or it's going to be relevant in a big way. I absolutely loved the latest episode, and its really too bad I had what will be the end to this season spoiled for me (I was staying back from reading the books so far), as it's probably going to be pretty cool.

Re. Dark Matter, you had the feeling that the show had definitely run its course, you had an end of the main story arc and a conclusion for a lot of the characters.
The Expanse was only just getting going in terms of the narrative in the books!

Yes - this matches the comment I have read.
There is nothing at all to stop Netflix picking it up, and their comments about sci-fi/fantasy setting for shows makes you think it is a definite possibility.
+EDIT+ or Amazon of course!

Also, the "two episodes left" thing was a red herring, it's a 13 episode season there was just no info post-8 until yesterday(one assumes to avoid spoilers due to the titles for/from book fans?).
Also - holy gak that ending.
EDIT: I thought Netflix already passed? I'd say Amazon is the only real hope at this stage, but it's not a totally futile hope due to the prior relationship to the show given they already had the streaming rights. Also Bezos is apparently a fan, and also happens to be a bit of a loon with more money than god, so even out-of-pocket he could fund this show without even noticing.

There's a huge irony about Bezos in particular being the saviour of a show that leans so heavily on the concepts of an Earth made idle by automation and a population of Space Working Class People oppressed by their distant corporate overlords...but so long as they keep making it I don't really care I suppose that's why they'll end up ruling the world?

Brilliant news! I don't think I could have faced this show being cancelled when something like Lost in Space is allowed to continue
Having read interviews with Bezos he really is in to the whole future space society thing, so not a surprise that he is a big fan of this kind of sci-fi series also.

I don't know about that, but it recorded funny. 48 minutes for "Congregation"(9 to 9:45) and 50minutes for "Abaddon's Gate"(9:45 to 10:35).

Well, here on DirectTV, one episode went directly into the other with no pause. No sure why it wasn't just advertised as a two hour finale.
