Likely to pick this up; not sure on the expansions though. There's 2-3 in each I like and 2-3 I'm fairly disinterested in. I assume stretch goals will be the other half of the originals, because those are some notable absences with all the Shotos around.

'*THIS CAMPAIGN'S CONTENT IS A KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE AND THESE SETS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT RETAIL!'

Kickstarter Exclusive means I'll be sticking to Anniversary Collection, thank-you-very-much!

Shame though, game looked arlright....

this whole campaign seems a bit odd.

Firstly when you talk about tabletop versions of computer games this isn't a license I would have ever thought of.

Secondly I'm not sure how well it translates to the tabletop, three on three, 3D combat involving the terrain doesn't look like the street fighter I remember (but can't say I've played the games since the megadrive days)

Thirdly the whole game being a kickstarter exclusive kills any chance of building a scene around the game. It feels like a very odd thing to do.

The models look nice though.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

I feel like Streets of Rage or Double Dragon would have fit this gameplay better.

Being Kickstarter exclusive is what made me pass on Batman and it is why I chose to skip this one as well.

I like a game I can play at my local venue (its the only place I get to play) that my venue can sell. I'd fill like a jerk if I kept showing up to play a game they couldn't sell.

Plus, as has been mentioned, you can't really foster a "scene" if the game isn't readily available.

Just reading the short gameplay blurb on the KS page made me decide not to waste my money... it sounds nothing like actual Street Fighter, which by the way would totally be doable in a board game format. One of the biggest parts of Street Fighter is mind games, with the other big parts being reflexes and manual dexterity. Obviously the only one you could use in a board game would be the mind games, and players taking turns to move and attack and choosing to "block or counter-attack" when attacked, and then rolling dice (!) to see if you succeed does not sound like any sort of mind games to me. Ideally the game would use simultaneous turns, with both players choosing a card and the outcome being decided based on the combination of cards, with little to no randomization. Seems to me like the designer doesn't know much about fighting games. Shame because the minis are SWEET.

You should try Yomi sometime.

The Indines series of games from Level 99 do a good job of replicating a 2d fighting game, complete with crazy powers, super moves, named attacks, palette swaps, and every fighter has their own special mechanics they fight with.

Plus there are dozens upon dozens of fighters at this point.

Still, these look like they could be pretty nice prepaints. I'm going to wait and see what kind of stretch goals end up included before I make any decision.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Most part of the mind games comes from the cards you play, and since your opponent has to guess what you could play is exactly the big part of this. Dice are just here to see if you succeed or not in your action, but since the cards give a big bonus (or inflict automatic damage, I guess you didn't see very much of the videos showing the game to miss that), focusing on that random aspect is the wrong move here. You have to take into account the whole mechanic to judge.

Seems to me you don't know why what works in a video game doesn't necessarily works best for boardgames, and thus why some things have to be adapted when you set rules for the latter kind.

AngryJoe is basically a video game reviewer, and he has quite a few fighting games in his experience.

In others news, the project is funded and Guile is unlocked as stretch goal.

Yep, I should. Yomi seems to be what SF should’ve been, and exactly what I was talking about: mind games as the most important component of gameplay. No wonder since it’s made by David Sirlin, a name everyone in the fighting game community knows.

I randomly watched one of the videos for this game thinking I would never be interested in actually backing it, and then quickly became a convert. It actually looks fun and the big painted figures is a nice change of pace. You use a deck of cards to attack another cartoon warrior for 15 minutes until somebody gets knocked out, and everyone has a nice time, seems great to me.

The system is going to incorporate DBZ too, which is why I imagine its not an exact translation of Street Fighter

Looks interesting but I'd like T'Hawk, Cammy, DeeJay and Fei Long. Assume they are stretch goals but may hold off until they are unlocked. Even if an as a buyable expansion, I'd pledge given those 4 are my favorites.

The Super SFII heroes (Cammy, DJ, THawk, FeiLong) are all intended as stretch goals. If they hit their target (10000 backers, supposedly), they intend to have the $140 pledge include all the characters through Super SFII... and apparently more? They mentioned a goal of 24 figures included, I think.

They've got to get Cammy in here!

They should have splurged and gotten the Marvel characters in too.

Maybe even a certain villain...

10K backers is pretty ambitious, I don't think I've seen a KS with that many folks.

Would love to pick up a Sakura model, game or no.

I would kill for a Darkstalkers expansion, too. Literally. I just need to know where to begin.

Ah, same here!

A Darkstalkers version/expansion/stretch goal/whatever might convince me to pledge too.

That's what I'm hoping for too! A $40 4 character pack with Felicia, Morrigan, Donovan and.. Bishamon would do nicely!

Oh man, a Darkstalkers expansion would be sweet. Too many good choices to pick from too.

Same here. At least a Darkstalkers add-on would be great.

Really like Angry Joe's efforts on this. The creators are really active and enthusiastic which makes this KS really fun. Feel like we have a hand in some of the content. Fei Long looks to be revealed soon and reachable so I caved and backed.
