Cheers for that bud, hmm I think il wait for a while on that one. Have plenty to do on ghost recon, to be honest I was starting to get bore on the far cry games and had hoped no 5 would change things up.

Planes and Choppers are the only thing thats changed up. Everything else seems like a downgrade.

Its a shame, because there is an excellent game under all the poor design decisions and frankly weak story.

Still hating that the parachute is bound to the jump key. Platforming is decent, but I tend to either mash or hold the jump key whenever I need to make a long jump, which usually results in.. deploying the chute.

Even more annoying is when you're stuck in the chute deployment animation and hit the ground, taking away most of your health, even if the drop was less than damaging to begin with.

Okay, screw this game. I decided to collect all twelve lighters.

Spoiler:
Just another survivor stash with medkits, ammo and some crafting materials, NOT worth the effort of collecting 12 lighters, crap.

I'm done, so done that I've decided to read the spoilers posted above and checked the wiki to see how the game ends. I don't think I'm going to sink more time into the game at this point right now.

I did come across a radio broadcast about something going on, but an effing NPC kept talking through it, so I couldn't pick up on what was going on at all. Thanks donkey-cave, here are your lighters, I'd pop you in the dome, but the game won't let me.

One of the things I found consistently annoying was that interact and swap weapon were the same key. I'd say at least a dozen times throughout the game I accidentally swapped my primary weapon with some random gun laying near a safe\switch\alarm, and at least once at the beginning of a boss escape I did so and my primary weapon got tossed into the abyss. Not a real problem per se but definitely annoying.

On the whole I enjoyed the game, but knowing what I know now, and having played it all the way through, I would recommend either waiting until it's around $30, or until the GOTY or whatever edition drops that bundles all the DLC.

At this juncture I'm not sure I can pick it up again; the ending... without any spoilers, the ending made it difficult for there to be any replay value. That's a problem since the game actively encourages you to skip side missions and quests for story missions, side quests pay off substantially more if you do them after all the story quests for that region have been completed.

What initially seems like neat game design burns you when they disincentive going back later with how they wrapped things up.

Also, 40 hours of gameplay and I never once heard a radio broadcast that filled in the larger picture.

The radios are not very loud to begin with, top it off with NPC's who keep talking about how great their bunkers are or how much you should play this arcade game because it is the best game ever and you can totally make your own levels and well.. really easy to miss.

There are hints thrown throughout the game, like when you take down the youngest brother, he says "YOU DON'T KNOW WHO IS IN CHARGE, DO YOU BOY?" or something.

There is little reason to retread and a lot of the unlocked rewards feel useless so late in the game, or just plain useless full stop. I can fly planes now, yes! Oh wait, there's hardly anything on the ground or in the air now to shoot at. Yay.

I did the same thing with the lighters. They got us good. Had there been something humorous at the end of that rainbow, , I’d have let it slide, but it was a room with like $250, some arrows, ammo and thats it. I don’t even think they had the decency to put body armor in the room. I didn’t expect much, given how half assed this game felt, maybe some superficial garbage like a unique colored weapon that I already have or a useless outfit, but damn. High level trolling. And its a perfect microcosm of the game, when you think about it.

Frontrunner for “Most dissapointing game of 2018” in my book. I’ve never written a review, negative or positive, on Steam before, but this one has compelled me. Alot of what I hate in this game is so ingrained into the overall design that there is not much that can be done to patch over it, or add more to the story like Mass Effect 3’s reworked endings. feth this game.

Yeah, if there had been a joke hidden in there, or hell as you said, a custom M60 or vintage uniform, I would've accepted it. But this is just insulting, especially with all the hoops you have to jump through to get all those lighters.

Congrats Ubisoft, you've finally managed to piss me off. Now appease me with the Wildlands update tomorrow.

I wonder how much of the problems we have with FC5 are because of how Ubisoft is essentially homogenizing their open world games?

I personally found the AR-C type to be horribly weak, requiring too many well placed shots into most enemies to drop them. . . I personally ALWAYS have my M60 on me (havent unlocked 4th slot yet), and either the .50 sniper, or one of the shotguns, and then the 1911.

For me, I think the game is a bit of an improvement over 4. . . The most aggravating thing from 4 was using the auto-pilot function to "easily" drive from one point to another, and the truck/atv/whatever would be driving so slow, I could run their quicker. On the flip side, if I drove myself, the vehicle would quickly get Millennium Falcon fast and I'd blow up on a tree.

Seems to me that driving has been much improved from that. Even at "top" speed vehicles are manageable.

The environment is interesting, with the Eden radio station being just as creepy as the Seeds themselves. I do agree that the Bliss Bullets thing when you hit a new stage of a zone is annoying. Last night I got hit with one while piloting a chopper. On the bliss front, it does seem odd that the drug "requires" some refinement, but you get high af while going through a patch of growing plant.

The Clutch Nixon stuff has been. . . ehh??? I'm quite a bit stuck on the squirrel suit missions due to the way wind currents plays poorly on my control.

I did switch to the AK in the tail end of the game, forgot to mention that.

I haven't played the game since I beat it. I skipped all the side quests, since it encourages you to do so (with a larger payout when the area is liberated), and now I have no interest in replaying the game after the ending.

Fairly bummed. I did get about 40 fun hours of gameplay out of it, so I should try to focus on that.

My advice, do all the sidequests you want to before you go to the endgame.

Should I go back and try a previous game in the series? I haven't played any of the others.

FC3 is good, but only fun for the first half, veterans will know why. It has a GREAT villain, walking meme status aside, who has some great moments with you in the game. His monologues are some of the best in my personal opinion.

FC4 is more of the same, but with some fine tuning, a damn fine villain in charge and some interesting moral choices along the way. I also liked the main character of FC4 the most, as he was simply a guy who wants to do one thing and then go home, but seeing as his dad was a big deal, everybody wants to use him for their own ends.

FC2 may be too old at this point, but I found it an enjoyable romp through a war torn country, where everybody is out to get or exploit you as you try to hunt down the Jackal. Has some really good moments in there. No hunting or XP collection though, instead you need to find blood diamonds to fund your arms and upgrades.

I'd recommend FC4. FC3 was good, but FC4 improved on certain aspects.

Word of warning, I may be wearing rose colored glasses while I list what I liked about FC4, so another opinion would be welcome.

FC4 What I liked: Great villain(s), much better story (for the series, still somewhat f'd up endings but not FC5 levels) all the same features of FC5, minus Planes/Copters. Hunting and Crafting are more important and it has Strongholds, which are mega-outposts and were a lot of fun taking over using stealth. Weapon progression felt more meaningful and I think it had more variety in enemies. Much more colorful map, too. The map didn't seem quite as obnoxiously busy either, although there are story based restrictions on how open the world is from how far you've progressed in the narrative, whereas FC5 was open from the start. Has yetis if you get the DLC!

What I disliked: Radio Towers, Drug/Mythical missions, restrictions to the map (listed above), cut scenes that couldn't be skipped (not as obnoxious as FC5, but still.) Thats all that comes to mind at the moment.

I actually thought of re-installing FC4 or FC: Primal(hardcore survival mode was fun to me) when I finally shitcanned FC5.

Highly recommend FC4 if you like sneaky/stealth kill game combined with a bit of run n' gun. Great villain and decent story. Plus you can ride elephants and feth up bad guys with them.

Decided to pick it up again after dropping it a while ago, I've decided to start afresh and just roll with it.

I've decided to look up the NPC's with quests I hadn't tackled before or hadn't discovered yet, like the film crew and those obligatory fetch quests, though most of those boil down to "LOL, nice job rube, now I can ebay them for way more than I paid you!", thanks.

The game still annoys me whenever an arbitrary event is kicked off, this is still a hamfisted attempt at keeping you on target. Unskippable cutscenes are also unforgivable.

Aside from several frustrating Clutch Nixon tasks, those two fishing quests and a job where I need to run down Bisons, I'm done with the game, or as close to 100% as I'll get.

I think I got the goodish ending..

Spoiler:
Only you..
