Not even a mention of Kong and Oh so serious whilst actually being as silly as any other monster movie.

And this is why differing opinion is a good thing. I can't disagree with what you said strongly enough, lol. So, on the plus side...one of us is going to like this new movie.

Ooh, I also loved Skull Island. That was a Kaiju movie that knew what it was supposed to be.

I really enjoyed both Kong and Godzilla. So it's a win win for me that they are making this.

Kong is due to be in the *next* Godzilla movie, I think?

But unless he gets a serious upgrade, he'll come up to Godzilla's knee, maybe?

A podcast I was listening too suggested that they do a prequel where Godzilla fights a whole swarm of Kongs just breathing atomic breath and lighting them on fire by the dozens. It's why Kong is the only one left lol.

That sounds...awful.

But possibly better with whatever they come up with to get Kong up to Godzilla size!

Kong in Skull Island wasn't an adult. He was apparently the equivalent of a 10-year old human.

I don't remember that being stated! Interesting if true - but I still don't think that means he'd grow 'big enough' to matter to Godzilla.

BUT, that's probably not actually that important - if it needs to happen for the movie to happen, it will happen!

Kinda means that Godzilla is going to survive this movie (duh), as Godzilla vs. Kong is slated for 2020.

It's indirectly stated when you see how big the skeletons of his parents are and they are monstrously larger than kong.

That being said they are nowhere near Godzilla sized.

Seems to be missing the things that always drew me to Godzilla movies as a kid in the trailer. I came to see giant monsters cut loose, hopefully in a city. I liked the last movie, except for most of the human parts that don't involve Ken Watanabe saying "Let them fight".

They should have had way more Brian Cranston running around yelling "THERES A GOD DAMN MONSTER!". The fact that hes only in the first 1/3rd of the movie is to its detriment.

Well, I'm guessing once Ghidorah shows up all hell will break loose when the big three have to fight him.

Its a very bizare trailor and nonsense narrative.

Humans are bad m'kay
Monsters are natures defense mechanism or something
Humans need to be crushed or something
Cos Monsters have Earth Power and can sort it out and not just blow stuff up.
Titans not monsters

Skull island with young Kong was basically - Monsters are a force of nature but not that they are a "good" ofr bad thing - they just are. More along the lines of the Cthulhu Mythos - evything is fine until the rightful rulers of the world wake up and wipe out humanity without really noticing before goping ton to do wihatever they normally do - which is a bit different to the above.

So, like me as a kid, you were drawn to things that happened maybe half of the time the films were running? Because going back and watching those movies as an adult there is an awful lot of no monsters on the screen in a lot of those films. Just a lot of politicians, soldiers and aliens. So Godzilla 2014 was right in my expected wheel house. I would have perfered more of Brian Cranston and Ken Watanabe as the main characters with Navy guy being a B-plot. But it worked for adult me, kid me would have just been indifferent on everything not a Giant Monster.

To touch on the "Humans are bad" theme. That one sounds like a pretty comon theme from some of the Godzilla movies, remember some of the monsters are creatures of our own unintintional creation. Sounds like here they are just making the monsters to counter balance humanity. Even then, some of the scientests could just be crazy.

I can't believe you had the audacity to type this. You should feel bad! (turns the "feel bad" switch to 212%). If you don't feel bad and guilty about everything, you're doin' it wrong!

You got that right!

This version of Godzilla is 300 feet tall.

This version of Kong (Teen Kong?) is 100 feet tall.

I guess he could still grow another 200 feet...?

I mean, it is a Kaiju movie after all!

I think the monolgue we hear in the trailer is that of a villain explaining why she wants to destroy the world. The movie will almost certainly be crazy scientist mom thinks Ghidorah is a "titan" that will save the earth by killing humans but her daughter, the girl from Stranger Things, figures out that Ghidorah isn't from earth at all and Godzilla and friends defeated and trapped him a gazillion years back. Now she has to wake up Rodan and Mothra in order to help Big G take out King Ghidorah and stop evil/crazy mom.

Wasnt that the plot for one of the older Movies? Maybe sub Rodan for one of the others.

I know there was the one in the early 2000's where it was Mothra, Ghidorah and Baragon (I think) vs Godzilla (as the Badguy) but I get the feeling they did Godzilla and Mothra vs Ghidorah.

Either way, its probably Crazy Scientist Mom or Evil Charles Dance (or both, I mean Charles Dance is generally a badguy). I mean the mom's speech did have everyone in that room being all like "You what?"

Wasn't there a point in Skull Island where they mention that Kong has noticeably grown in just the couple days since they first met him? It could have just been hyperbole, or that means Kong was in one mean growth spurt. It would explain him wanting to munch on an octopus, though I didn't hear his voice crack, and I didn't see any acne.

Kong as seen in Skull Island is definitely a juvenile.

Godzilla, Motha, Rodan vs Ghidorah happened in one of the 1964 Godzilla movies. This will probably be an updated version of that movie.

I also think it is funny thatbone persons dialogue is ruining this for people.

What Godzilla movies have you been watching that DIDN'T have a ridiculous premise?

You remind me of a friend who went to see the American Godzilla movie with me. His main criticism was "They should have done more with the plot."

My reply was to the point. "It's a Godzilla movie. Watching a 500' long lizard stomp on New York WAS the plot. If you wanted more, you were in the wrong theater!"

That was exactly my take away from it as well. She called humans an infection and said the titans were the only thing that could stop it.

I too thought that this was an antagonist speaking and had a similar idea that she was off her cracker.
