Is there anywhere to find what lists were used by team USA? Always interesting to see how the captain/team chooses lists to respond to other teams meta / matchups.

NVM Google is my friend: https://spikeybits.com/2018/08/team-usa-wins-the-40k-etcs-top-8-lists.html

I don’t know why spikybits is raving about “knights coming out on top”...there was one knight in all the lists, and it was about 1/3 of that list.
You realise that each faction can only be used by one player on a team yeah? That list was only one of three (out of 256) that finished on 120 points (i.e. six 20-0 wins).

It is true however that you cannot really say from the ETC which factions are the best because of how players are paired up. The 120 point lists will have all been put into favourable matchups where they are expected to win big. Also, there will be more quirky 'anti meta' lists that wouldn't work well in a regular format but are designed to prey upon commonly seen lists. For example, one of the other 120 point lists of Harlequins/DE featured 17 Haywire cannons, and was paired against Knights in 3/6 games.

For a much more comprehensive answer.

https://tourneykeeper.net/Team/TKTeamLeaderboard.aspx?Id=2471

This has the ranking for all teams, individual rankings, all lists and all matchups played throughout the 6 games for every team.
its a treasure trove of information if you want to take the time to read through it.

Just keep in mind the setup of the ETC is rather unique and changes what lists people bring and what sort of game they play

Thanks everyone. The team put in a ton of work throughout the year. With ups and downs struggle and triumph. It was a great team victory and we were proud to represent the USA.

You guys did fantastic!

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.

Gonyo and Nick are both winning their games though Nick has to finish the tabling on time. Kurt somehow is hanging in on the knight dumpster game. Nayden and Kopach finished their 20s pretty fast.

America is now at 72-28 with 3 games still unreported. Very close to sealing the Championship.
Tony - 20
Sean - 20
Kurt - 13 (vs. trips castellans w/ trips vaults so that's pretty insane)
Nick - 12
Rose - Solid 7 loss
Word is Gonyo is winning, which if it holds will seal it up

Ok, so I have to know - what are trips vaults?

3 Tesseract Vaults + usually a C'Tan/DLord, and some scarabs.

huh, ok, I'm completely illiterate about how ETC rolls but I assumed Kurt played against a list with 3 Catellans and 3 vaults...figuring the knights run around 1800 points of the list I thought vaults must be pretty cheap but since I don't know anything about ETC... Oh well...

He played AGAINST 3 castellans w/ an army of 3 tesseract vaults, which means he should have basically auto-lost and it was impressive that he somehow won.

What format was this?

On that note, how do we determine whether a certain format is a true measure of skill?

ETC. You can find rules online.

And there's no universal measure of skill except maybe ability to adapt to MULTIPLE formats.
