I'm just stating the reality of the situation. Its morality or being right or wrong isn't what I'm stating.

There are loads of tournaments that still ban forgeworld.

Mostly being just the local scene. I haven't heard of the major ones being that restrictive. Most players jut don't want to bring an army that doesn't have a battletome because of the lack of effective variety that it carries.

I'd say most people that play in tournaments mostly only do their local scene tournaments though.

True, mostly due to costs of travel, I imagine.

That being said, not every local scene is the same. I know the Phoenix, AZ, market trends to follow the larger Conference scenes. Some of our primary look-outs are the Cons that happen in California and Las Vegas. The two biggest local stores often run qualifiers for some of the biggest events, too, for the biggest games on the market, including WMH and X-Wing.

Before I dropped all my GW models, the 40K scene was marked by the ITC ruleset, and while I haven't asked, I am starting with the assumuption the AoS crowd is similar because the same people are largely running them. Oh, there's the odd one-off with crazy build schemes and objectives, but for the most part ITC is the focus. I can't say much for the smaller stores, though, as I didn't frequent them much before and I'm now on the hard travel side of the Valley of the Sun to frequent them much.

No not every local scene is the same thats correct, but I know I hear enough from many sources that FW and other non official things are banned to have a general idea that its a good plan to make sure your local area supports what you want to do before spending money and time on it if you're going to go unofficial routes or optional routes like forgeworld.

That's true in general, though.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)

I think it is too yes but a lot of people forget this and then get burned when they spend money on models that their local scene wont allow them to use outside of their garage or basement.

All that said, we still use the mengel TK book for lack of a better alternative.

Strictly casual gaming, of course.
