If Beasts of Chaos and Legions of Nagash are anything to go by, they'll probably fold Slaves to Darkness in with Everchosen at some point. They already do that on the faction page on the AoS official site.

I agree that sometimes you need to hold the model to really know what's up, but for information I think dakka is still the best bet. You do need to be aware of what the community plays but I think picking an army you like is more important. Initially what drew me to Beastmen in 8th Ed was the models on the website but I was heavily into 40k at that time so starting a new army wasn't on the project log. Now that I've actually got some models I'm even more pleased with them. Especially the Ghorgon.



Gets along better with animals... Go figure.
