Quark: Humility. (After serving so long with the Death Korp Val'dan has grow an unusual habit of giving and using personal names to his Tank crew. Val'dun refers to them by there assigned names instead of there serial number. Chain of command has noticed this habit but ignore it due to Val'dun's ability to support and lead the armored company )

Val'dan is a seasoned Commisar who has spent majority of his career serving with the Death Korps ot Krieg. Out of 22 years as a commissar, Val'dan has spent 19 of them with the Krieg.

Val'dan is the acting commissar for the 53rd Armored Assault Brigade and oversees the 45th Superheavy tank company.

During his 19 years with the 53rd, Val'dan has made quite a reputation as an armored officer, with his Leman Russ Vanquisher "Redemption" Val'dan and his crew have claimed 100s of vehical kills.

During a rebellion on Solthes V, Val'dan and his platoon of tanks outflanked an enemy superheavy company. His platoon was credited for knocking out 1 shadowsword class superheavy tank and 2 stormlord class superheavy tanks. Because of this, the Adeptus Mechanicus were able to recover and rebuild those Superheavy class tanks. To honor Val'dan, the Mechanicus gifted him a Macharus Heavy tank, Vanquisher class aptly named "Vengeful Soul"


When mounted in his Leman Russ Vanquisher, Val'dan use the Mars Alpha battletank datasheet, but with the following stat changes.

Not custom named characters, but something i was toying with the bring the generic lieutenant datacard to be more in line with what is described in the commanders entry of the Blood Angels codex. tried to make them reflect the actual roles that each is supposed to fill in the company command structure.

I think it sounds neat, though a 2+ ballistic skill is pretty damn strong. I'd have to play it and see how potent it is. Equipped with additional Russ weaponry though you'd be around..260 mininum, upwards of 300 for real heavy weapons.

Sounds pretty reasonable I s'pose.

Is he? He's good... But he's really vulnerable to alphas, due to lacking character protection. Also no Invuln.

I want less of a brand new character and instead a more customizable one for Tyranids.

Tyranid Prime

Change his warrior aura to effect warriors, shrikes, and raveners.

For 10 points it becomes a Shrike Prime - Gains FLY Keyword and increase movement to 12. (the difference in cost between shrikes and warriors is 6 points)

For 10 points it becomes a Ravener Prime - Gains the ability to deepstrike via tunnels. Increase movement to 12. Starts with 2 pairs of scytal. Can swap 1 pair of Scytal for anything a prime could normally take. Can take spine fist, devourer or deathspitter in addition to the 2 melee weapons. (just like ravs.)


This also means you just get rid of the red terror. An outdated model that has a gimmick ability that only kind of does anything.

Imanducarus is a Sicarian Alpha specializing in assassination. It takes the heads of its victims, along with any knowledge contained within them and archives it. Hunger for data: This model may re-roll failed charges that target characters. In addition it may reroll failed wound roles when targeting characters.

I would make a Ultramarines Techmarine.

Same stats as a normal techmarine
Has a servo harness
Master crafted power axe
A relic volkite blaster, assault 6 S3 AP - 2 1D, each would roll of 6+ the enemy unit suffers a mortal wound. Might be a bit much though


Special rules would be:
Meticulous repairs: can repair 1 Wound on any Vehicle with the Imperium keyword.

Synchronized servo harness: add 1 to hit rolls for weapons attached to the servo harness or for each 1 attack used for servo arms use 2 instead. A little unsure

Override: the techmarine can choose to override a Ultramarines vehicle instead of shooting, using his BS instead of its own, this also can be used while embarked.

Iron halo: 4++ can techmarines get iron halos? Either way something to give him a 4++

The ad mech dominos volkite blaster is heavy 3 st 6 AP 0. Same mortal wound rule. Why is this so diferent? Needs a good fluff reason or it should be the same. I like the remote take over rule though. Think the super servo thing might be a bit much for a support character. Not everything has to be better.

I was thinking half the Strength twice the shots. I also forgot to list the range as 12". Probably can lower it to AP - 1 too looking back. I may even remove it

The general idea I had for this guy was that he can hangout with either thunder fire cannons or a predator, even hop in a LR sorta like Chronus but then he can chase off whatever gets too close if he's hanging out.

Also if it wasn't clear the idea I had for the repairs is that he doesn't have a normal repair ability like normal techmarines. He can repair anything, but he's slow at it. Which would be his drawback compared to normal techmarines

So I think if I had to give my final iteration I'd go:
Techmarine basic statline
Master crafted Power axe (so it just does 2D instead)
Master crafted boltgun (after more thought I'd say this conveys the idea for him more than a "unique" weapon)
Servo harness- 2 servo arms, plasma cutter, flamer (almost feel like this should be master crafted but that seems overly confusing)

ATSKNF (Naturally)
Meticulous repairs (no Blessing of the Omnissiah)
Override (I always felt like techmarines should buff vehicles in some way beyond repairs)
5++ (lowering it from 4 since other named character that aren't captain's don't have halos and I'm not gonna say he's earned one since tigurius doesn't even have one)

Yeah you were right about the super servo harness being too much. It totally removed the reason to use the axe. I originally thought the servo arms did D3 damage and not flat 3, which was my reasoning. So maybe at most let him attack with the axe in addition to his servo arms

I like it. Like a special character that isn’t a commander or super hero. Like the buffing vehicles. He does need a unique weapon. Makes sense for a tech marine. How about a volkite something. Ass 3 S5 ap0. Special rule as before. Range 12.

I recently built up a primaris version of Tor Garadon- the captain of the Imperial Fists 3rd company.

My rules for him would be basically the primaris captain with powerfist- but instead of plasma he gets a master crafted bolt gun (in the fluff he has the Spartean- but its gak in 8th) with R24" S5 AP-1 2D. No penalty to hit with his powerfist and a buff that gives one infantry unit within 6 +1 shot per model for boltweapons if they stayed stationary that turn.

I figure 120-130pts is fair,

Actually the Spartean isn't bad this edition. It suffers from what all Relics suffer: having the same exact point cost.

Captain Adara Kane, pirate

Adara has spent most of her life on a spaceship, and has earned a reputation as a ruthless pirate captain. The destruction of most of her fleet at the hands of chaos, however, has instilled in her a new drive to be a good samaritan — not out of the goodness in her heart, but in the hopes of earning protection from the taint of chaos. Adara is willing to forge an alliance of convenience with anyone who will offer her and her crew escort to a safe port and resupply.

HQ choice, 50pts

M 6'' WS 4+ BS 3+ T3 W3 S3 A2 SV 4+/5++

Wargear: Carapace armour, refractor field, 2x grav pistol, frag and krak grenades

Target Acquired: Adara's ship is in orbit and armed to the teeth Once per game designate a point in Adara's line of sight. Roll a dice for each unit within 3'' of that point, on a 4+ that unit suffers D3 mortal wounds. Subtract -1 if that unit is a character with under 10 wounds, add one if it is a vehicle or monster.

Teleportarium: Her ship is pretty high tech. She can deepstrike.

Imaging array: Designed for finding ships in the limitless expanse her ship's telescopes pick up a particularly accurate image of vehicles on the battlefield, assisting in targeting. At the start of the shooting phase Adara and a unit within 3'' of her get +1 to hit when targeting a vehicle that she can see.

Motley Crew: You may take a unit to represent her crew, this unit does not take up a force organization slot. This would essentially be what inquisitorial henchmen are now, but with more reasonable points costs, to represent the diverse array of weaponry her pirate crew might have gathered and access to a few more weapons and the ability to deepstrike.

Alliance of Convenience: You can only take Captain Adara Kane in auxiliary detachment, however, she may be included in any imperium, aeldari, or tau army.

It's been a while so bear with me.

Supreme Commander Adamas of the Cyberian Knights
Supreme Commander Adamas is the leader of a Primaris chapter called the Cyberian Knights. He is equipped with Gravis Armour that comes with a Heavy Jump Pack, worn by the Inceptor squads. He wields a Storm Shield and a strange weapon - the Xenostorm Blade. Alleged to be a fusion of pre-Heresy Imperial and Necron technology, this blade can cut through almost anything, be it of this world or any other.

Bit of a thread necro but hoping the mods won't mind.

Bit bored at work at the moment so been thinking of my Custodes force and how great it would be to have Valdor in the current 40K storyline, and with that in mind I came up with some rudimentary rules for him.

Custodian Valdor - 275pts
M6" WS2+ BS2+ S5 T5 W6 A5 LD10 Sv2+

Weapons and Wargear
Apollonian Spear
- Ranged: 24", S5, Ap-2, D2, Rapid Fire 2
- Melee: S+3, Ap-3 D3, Wound rolls of 4+ inflict an automatic 3 Mortal Wounds instead of the regular damage.

Iron Halo: 4++ Invulnerable Save

Abilities
Supreme Custodian: If Custodian Valdor is your Warlord, you gain an additional Command Point. Additionally, friendly Imperium units within 12" of Valdor may use his leadership value instead of their own. Friendly Custodian Infantry units within 6" of Valdor may re-roll all 1's to hit and wound.

Master Duelist: Enemy Character must subtract -1 from any to hit rolls against Custodian Valdor in the Fight Phase.



At first glance he may seem really, really overpowered, the point is he's supposed to be. One of the most powerful characters in 30K, able to take on a number of Primarchs and come out on top.

They did, but I haven't seen any summary outside you getting either 4, 6, or 8 Traits.

There are a few tables you can choose from and a few limits to it. Its best used as a tool for campaigns, or leagues, since its an Open Play only thing. An example would look something like this:

Additional Traits
Hard to Kill: To wound rolls of 1, 2 or 3 always fail
Reactive Tactics: Friendly <Alpha Legion> units within 6" can charge after falling back earlier in the turn,
Impetuous: This model can re-roll failed charges
Keen Eye: This model can always target characters
Strike and fade: This model can always consolidate D3+3" in any direction at the end of the fight phase, not just towards the nearest enemy unit

Weapon Modifications
Auto Loader(CombiMelta): Increase type value by 1(i.e. Assault 1 becomes Assault 2)
Razor Edged(Power Fist): Improve AP by 1

Characteristic modifiers
Fleet: Increase movement by 2"

Warlord Trait(Optional): Unholy Fortitude: +1 Wound and 6+ Feel no pain

Improvements like these make a Legendary Hero that can pick out high priority targets in a fight, and direct a host of differently specialized squads both in the fight phase and the shooting phase. It is worth noting that weapon modifications impact all weapon profiles, not just one, so the Combi Melta is actually Rapid Fire 2 for the Bolter AND Assault 2 for the MeltaGun.
