Butchered the stories...but more importantly, it wasn't a fraction as good as the books.

Disney isn't too proud of it either. I think it took them 10 or 15 years to do a home release. Also, the princess (named Eilonwy -- the books are very loosely based on Welsh myth) has a funny status as Disney's 'lost princess' that they never include in any publicity around 'Disney's princesses'. LOL.

Codex Alera would make a great series. The first half of the first book is a little slow, but once you get past that point, it’s a good ride. Would be very expensive, however.

Thomas Convenant can take a long walk off of a short pier. I rarely hate books, but make an exception for that series.

Dragonriders of Pern is another series waiting for a solid adaptation. The earlier books are really good, and the Harper Hall series is great. The series did go off the rails with some of the later sequels.

The Disney Black Cauldron was okay, but the books are far, far superior.

With all the super hero stuff Sanderson's ya series Reckoners would be pretty good.

Sanderson writes vey visually, perfect for TV. All of his books could make good shows.
