I like the idea of it, though, because stuff like power fist sergeants are fun.
I nearly exclusively play Power Level. It makes for easier model building and recognition on tabletop, which is nice when you play a lot of games against new opponents and armies. We play purely by
WYSIWYG, so if you want all plasmas in your unit, you gotta model that.
Beyond that, I've seen no real difference between Power Level and all the times I've played standard points. The game plays out largely the same, and hasn't ever really felt imbalanced except for when I've done a strategy or playstyle that would have been imbalanced even if I'd done it with points. Played a 60
PL game a week ago, oldmarine Ultramarines vs Death Guard, Death Guard player used essentially the content of Know No Fear, plus things like a Blighthauler, Plagueburst and Typhus, I took 3 ten man Tactical Squads with a variety of weapons,
HB Devastators, regular Termies and Calgar, game played just fine. Didn't feel imbalanced particularly, and really enjoyed the game.

Points are you get 11 peeps and they have 11 peeps playing football, only they are from a sports school at 2 of them are last class weight 90kg and are two heads taller then you.
Power levels are you get 11 peeps, because that is how many of you are, but they have 40 people and they use all of them.
One of those things is a game, maybe an unfair one, the other is just a brawl.
I think more apt is one game of football has been tuned so that both teams have the same formations, same skill level in a league, same coach etc etc.
The other is two teams picking their members at random from a lineup, with no formations, no coaches, just getting on a playing.
Will one have more balance? Yes. Will one be faster? Yes. Which is better? Up to you.
