Cheers Nev and CommissarKhaine, I do like to have a bit of fun with my models and if I can add a Snotling or Grot into the model somewhere I will

Ork Deathskulls Looted Rhino

This model is not one I submitted to any painting challenge (which is rare). I just wanted to have a play about with converting and looting a Rhino, it was quite a fun project to do and think about. I was able to try a few things I'd not done before e.g. magnetising part of it, painting rust, Greenstuff for the seats. Rhinos seem a bit too small to carry 12 Boyz so when I looted it I cut it in half and put a spacer panel + some front doors in to make it wider I also added in some seating and a Grot .

The gunner and Big Shoota are magnetised so they can move around and come off for transport.

I think I went a bit OTT on the rust effect and a lot of the painting could be better but in the end its acceptable how it turned out and a good record of were I was painting skill wise at that time (Late 2015)

It's hard not to have fun with grots around

That rhino definitely adresses the 'tiny vehicle syndrome' model vehicles tend to have. I'd suggest cleaning up and distressing the plasticard panelling, but I'm going to assume you did that since it's already painted . Lovely glyph on the side btw!

Thanks CommissarK, Yeah the Glyph did turn out quite well I drew it on paper, then when happy transferred it to very thin plasticard, then used that as a template for the thicker plasticiard, no mistaking who owns this vehicle It didn't distress the panels but looking at some of your work I think its something I will definitely be doing in the future

Slightly out of sink but thought I'd post my latest entry in the unofficial Dakka painting challenge, an Evil Sunz Deffkilla Wartrike

I can see an improvement in my painting between the last vehicle and this one so a bonus from the last 3 years of painting

Its not completely finished and the base isn't great (and the wrong size). I underestimated the amount of time it would take and the amount of time I had this month so only just managed to get in mostly done in time. Enjoy

Now how on earth hadn't I found this yet?!...there's even that nice big banner in your sig and everything! ...Well, I'm following it now at least

...just had a good meander through what you've posted here so far...a few things I hadn't seen before, and am glad I now have, and a few things I had seen before, but am glad to see again...and of course, the depth of character you always manage to work into all your fun novelty conversions is always impressive

...it's good to be green!

Those two lates models look brilliant! I feel your weathering has a similar effect as distressing the panels, so distressing them beforehand could really add to the 3d-effect of your painting (if that makes any sense).

Very nice work to the level you have the trike finished to Midget Gems. Lots of users would be envious of what it looks like now.

Cheers all, I was hoping to add a few bits that people hadn't seen before or add some extra info to what I've already done. With this post I'm up to March 2016 and I'd say the best is yet to come

Grot Marine

I had a fun idea for this months (March 2016) challenge and wanted to combine my recent SM painting with my love of all things converted and Orky. Introducing Grot Marine! I put some effort into the conversion so it didn't seem like I'd just stuck a grots head on a SM body. A few days of planning and trying out different bits I came up with the best pieces to fit together. I hollowed out the arm and thigh cavities with a dremel tool trying not to melt the plastic and then fine tuned it with some small files. The legs didn't look great in the end since I reused a old part that already had paint on and lost a lot of detail.

Do you know, there used to be a store owner in Vancouver who built an entire army of Space Goblins in the original Rogue Trader marines. Although is were not so well equipped.

Lol amazingturtles, hes a leader amongst Grots

This week has been stupidly busy, drived 1300 miles on top of my normal working day so not much time for anything including updating blogs but now its the weekend so I have a bit of time.

Ork Santa and Flying Sleigh WIP

Since Xmas is almost upon us I thought I'd share this project with you. At the time (Dec 2015) it was my biggest Project to Date, It's also still one of my favourites. I put a hell of a lot of effort into this and much more time than I was expecting. I think I estimated it at around 80 - 100 hours to finish it. (and thats without a base which I wanted to do as a ruined house with a chimney)

It was loads of fun to make and to think about all the little bits.

First post is the building WIPs and second one with have the painting

Another Ork Santa for you guys

Ork Santa Diorama

This time I wanted to do Santa sitting down handing out presents, Finding a 40k scale size armchair was pretty difficult but I found this chair and stone surround as a random buy on e-bay, repainted it didn't look too bad. It was quite hard to get Santa to sit so he's a bit perched with ammo boxes to to support his little feet rather than let them dangle. For a fun idea I have the grot elves Cork Guns

Happy New Year everyone

Ork Santa - How The Grots Stole Christmas

For the final Christmas themed entry we have "How the Grots Stole Christmas" my latest one and just completed the other day.

I liked how the posters came out, especially the "wanted" one and the scene in general. I ran out of time to get all the detail and highlights done. would have liked to add a few extra bits to the base and the sack on the sleigh could be a lot better. Any suggestions as to what else I could add to it?

Hahaha it's beautiful! The old Doom Diver goblins were the perfect bit. Love the posters - great attention to detail.

Glad you liked it and hope it brought some festive fun to the forums

Thanks CB and mcmattila

My 3 year old keeps asking me to get them out so she can see them which is sweet, normally they are kept in my man cave/garage but they are in a display cabinet.

When the kids are older and less likely to break them I might sneak them on top of the fireplace 1 night and see what the wife says
