When they have a top tier codex the anger threads will be something like "I'm upset because I paid my dues, and now people are playing the army because it's good, when i've suffered for years, everyone acknowledge me, i am special."

I'm not entirely certain that I would count Sly Marbo as a new release, because he's not new.

Also, there's like 6 new Ork Vehicle kits.

In terms of releases so far, if I remember correctly:
On 8th Ed Drop: Intercessors, Inceptors, Hellblasters, Poxwalkers, Plague Marines, Multiple HQ's for Death Guard and Space Marines [Space Marines and Death Guard [new, Chaos]]
On SM Codex Drop: Aggressors, Reviers, Redemptor, Repulsor, SM HQ's [Space Marines]
On CSM Codex Drop: Nothing
On GK Codex Drop: Nothing
On AdMech Codex Drop: Nothing
On Death Guard Codex Drop: Mortarion, Plagueburst Crawler, Blighthauler, Blightmower, Tree? [Death Guard]
On IG Codex Drop: Nothing
On Tyranids Codex Drop: Sly Marbo, Round 2 [IIRC he came out during Shadow War Armageddon at the very tail end of 7th, so he's newish anyway] [Imperial Guard (generously)]
On Eldar Codex Drop: Nothing
On Custodes Codex Drop: Dawneagles, Terminators, Wardens, Special Character [Custodes]
On TSons Codex Drop: Nothing, but everything was new anyway from the very tail end of 7th.
On Dark Eldar Codex Drop: Nothing
On Harlequins Codex Drop: Webway Gate [Eldar]
On Forgebane Box Set: Surfer Cryptex, Armiger Warglaive [Admech, Necrons]
On Necrons Codex Drop: Nothing
On Deathwatch Codex Drop: Primaris Upgrade Sprues for Deathwatch [Deathwatch]
On IK Codex Drop: Dominus Knight, Armiger Helverin, Forgeshrine [IK]
On Kill Team Release: AdMech Kill Team, GSC Kill Team, [These seem to be existing models on new sprues] Imperial Sector Ruins, Kill Team Base Box Ruins [AdMech, GSC (generously)]
On Kill Team Faction Pack Releases: Existing faction kit packaged with existing terrain items. Nothing new
On Rogue Trade Releases: Rogue Traders, Gellarpox Infected [RT [new, Imperium], Gellarpox [new, Death Guard]]
On Space Wolves Codex Drop: Nothing
On Tooth and Claw: Harald Icepelt, GSC Abberant [Space Wolves, Genestealers]
On Wake the Dead: Eldar Character, Lieutenant(?) [Eldar, Space Marines]
On Speed Freeks: 2 Ork Vehicles. [Orks]
On Ork Codex: Ork Wartrike Boss, 4 more Ork Vehicles, Sly Marbo Round 3 [Orks, Imperial Guard (Generously)]

Admittedly, my memory is a bit hazy since it's kind of all run together.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

I think you're missing the point. Ork players have nothing to complain about. Nothing. They're getting some of the coolest sculpts i've seen, and the rules I've seen are addressing their biggest problems (point drops, stratagems, traits, and errata, like 'ere we go).

This is shaping up to be a fantastic release. Just fantastic.

I, like many others, will be starting an Orks army. How can you not, with those buggies coming out? Probably the coolest sculpts i've seen in 40k, ever.

EDIT - nothing to complain in regards to their new releases. Obviously not getting a codex until this late is a bummer, but it's also a blessing in disguise, because your codex isn't going to be complete garbage by virtue of other armies getting updates. COUGH TYRANIDS COUGH

Tyranids don't strike me as a bad codex. They're definitely not complete garbage.

Marmatag both you and I know that the 8.5 or 9e round of Codexes will eclipse this release when they happen.

Can you imagine the salt if it turns out Speed Freaks or Kan Wall are the new Ork hotness? They're all going to start complaining about how they painted all these ork boyz and half of them are useless.

That seemed the case but they did just replace Ork Buggies.

Even that to me is more of a side grade release. The only one to one unit they really released since 8th dropped was some of the DG and some clam pack characters. While Orks got new buggies and they look amazing, they are clearly not a one to one unit refresher but rather a similar but distinct addition.

My guess is that 9e is years away. 8th has been ridiculously successful thus far. It's far more likely we see an 8.1 (more varied detachments, updated rules, expanded psychic powers / traits, etc) than a fresh set of codexes.

Seriously? This is the 3rd time he has showed up. If it was a new model maybe I could see your frustrations. But this is just playing the victim at this level of barrel scrapping.

Yeah, he stopped being a new model ages ago. My guess is that they underestimated how popular he'd be, sold out of their stock too fast and only got around to recasting him more recently and tossed him in because he's famous for fighting Orks.

In other news of Ork salt: because the Ork codex isn't going to be physically in his hands before October ends one of my local FLGS Ork players says Orktober is a lie.

Apparently being allowed to pre-order and spend money on Orks in October wasn't good enough I guess.

The amount of salt I've seen from Ork players for this release makes me feel rather subdued as a Sisters player.

except that "Imperial" isn't a single faction, it's a grouping of multiple factions that make up something like half the model line. Lemme tell you a blood angels player no doubt feels annoyed that Salty Ork players complain if they get something new because Imperial guard got something a few months back

Actually, does that mean Orks have more new kits total coming out than Guard have had all edition?

They definitely are, as guard are currently sitting on a re-released Marbo and more than one ork model has already been announced.

The techpriest was ~2015 with the admech.
2014 had guard and ork releases - the tempestus and ogryns for guard, the warboss and various characters, mek stuff, flash gitz, nobz, and the gorkanaut for the orks.

Contrasting this with the 'So Bored With GW' thread is pretty interesting.

GW's website lists 29 'Armies' and fifteen of them are Imperial. Here we have people complaining that releases for over half of the existing armies are too frequent, there we have people complaining that Imperial releases are too infrequent.

It kind of seems like GW is damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

Remade Kits (1 to 1): Great Unclean One, Beasts of Nurgle, Spiritseer, Cryptek*,

* yes it has a new, mandatory, wargear.

And we've seen new GSC Aberrants, multipart to replace/supplement Overkill's monopose.

And Sisters of Battle are "announced" so that entire line is.

It's just that 2018 announced "new" armies: Death Guard (tail end), Custodes, and fleshing out Knights. (Maybe now the whole "wow 1 model codex" will go away.)

We don't know whether Sisters will be models for existing units, or whether they'll get the Primaris treatment and we'll have Sisters equivalents of Intercessors etc.

I'm fully expecting the latter.

The Enginseer came with Guard, not AdMech. He was(and still is here in the US) released in the Leman Russ Tech-Command box. That was something like early to mid 2016.

He wasn't even available to AdMech until the release of Codex: Imperial Agents later that year.

One might notice from this thread that 90% of the posts are complaining about the complaining and not actual "whiny entitled ork players".

Keep things in perspective, folks. People are reacting to the leaks and reveals as they come - if someone complains about one in particular, for example, the terrible rules and ridonkulous points price that GW put on the squigbuggy, they're not complaining about a large model release. They were hyped for the large model release weeks ago, they're just reacting to the single piece of info in front of them.

The last couple of days, the information people have been reacting to is the leak of the rules for the Mek Shop (Which is essentially identical to the Forgeshrine in that it makes your models statistically worse) and the points costs for three of the buggies (one of which is hilariously overpriced, the other two are at best mediocre for being on a vehicle that can easily die to two damage rolls from a lascannon).

Yeah, you're going to get disappointment that of the four models whose rules we know so far, two are already dedicated shelfwarmers. It doesn't mean people aren't hyped for a huge model release.

I think a sisters Troop Box that includes all the existing troop choices in a nice, bitz-heavy box for 45-50$ is inevitable, but I'd be shocked if they didn't also heavily flesh out the sisters unit lineup. They've already got the transports, they exist in plastic.
