Sentient Void

Currently inactive with a 8k pt Necron army in storage bins. I have a small number of Tyranids I use for periodic KT only because it is what the neighbors are playing. Much more into board games and Blood Red Skies these days... Will probably play even less KT when the Harry Potter miniatures game drops at the end of the year and Keyforge arrives this weekend, so begin fade to black now...

Paradigm for a happy relationship with Games Workshop: Burn the books and take the models to a different game.

Been following the game since about the start of 6th, but didn't join. I finally gave up when the 6th tyranid codex was released and i fell in love with it. I somehow survived 6th and 7th (but developed an utter hate for flyrants) and landed safely in 8th.

You do realise this guy could be phishing for your DoB?

Since 1980's

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Knowing what year you were born isn't very useful. If you're that paranoid you shouldn't be using the internet, period.

Also, when you started playing doesn't have that much relation to your age. Yes, you can't be 18 and started playing RT, but it's in no way related to your age when you started 8th edition.

Started right at the end of 2nd/beginning of 3rd Ed. Have a competitive group of friends, but never played in a tournament. Played solidly through 3rd and 4th, but by 5th we all started modifying the rules because we realized much was being changed for change's sake by GW. I've been playing steadily ever since with our group's house rules, borrowing every now and then from later editions. This required our own updates on the codices as well. We haven't incorporated anything from 8th Ed., however.

Having a blast!

You would be surprised.

Anyhoo - no tin foil hats here just making a joke, clearly missed by some.

Started in 2006, middle of 4E I believe. Been playing non-stop and almost exclusively 40k since then. Haven't even played video games since then.
I live and breath 40K. Briefly dabbled in Warhammer Fantasy for a few years, but AoS and moving to a new gaming community killed that. But I've been actively playing 40K for over a decade straight.

I'm on a sort-of break right now. Not because I don't LOVE 8E, I really do, but work + family has kinda killed any competitive play for me right now.
Although, I've done tons of painting in the last year, so that's been good.
I've also been slowly but surely getting my 2 teen boys into 40K, so yet another win.

Can we call it brand new if the edition has been out over a year?

I have played Warhammer 40k continuously for about 8 years now.

I hit "seasoned veteran", but I don't really feel that way. More like "experienced".

I've been playing wargames and painting miniatures for longer, though, since 3rd grade.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

Played in 3rd, came back for 8th. Started with the original DE/Black Templars 3E starter set, then moved to Ulthwe, then moved to Space Wolves. Took a break for a good 15 years before returning to finish my Eldar army and start a new daemons army with some CSM.

While my Rogue Trader experience was minimal, my 2nd Ed. experience was significant and enough to make me not want to play the game ever again. The launch of 3rd had me on board from the second the Marine codex hit the shelf, and I've been playing ever since. Granted, I haven't touched 6th on out, but I still consistently play 3rd Ed. with a club that I've been putting together.

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

10 years. Drifted in and out of playing at various times, but I always collected, put models together and painted. Most of college and law school though my guys were just a neat thing I kept on my shelves, since not many people in my area played and the nearest game stores were kinda far.

Though I had probably one of my most memorable games my freshman year with space wolves versus Nids that came down to the a duel between a hive tyrant and my rune priest. Rune priest manage to pull it off, while my one other remaining marine helped with a barely in range bolter shot to peel off a critical wound. Was such a cinematic match.

I don't see why not. BL just re-released the RT book this past summer. Likewise I'm sure some of us have both kids & our original books....

I've only been playing actual 40k since 8th was released, but I've been playing GW 40k based games since the early 90s. I started with Space Hulk 2nd Edition, and have been a huge fan of 40k lore and board games since, but only started playing the actual 40k game when 8th came out.

Since early 4th. First game I had was the battle for Macragge with a friend who had gotten into it. He gave me my first 40k model too, a grey knight justicar. Though the first models I ever got were the Moria goblins from that battles for middle earth mag years ago.

I was hooked in the early 90's when necromunda was released. Think my first actual 40k type game but was the original Space Hulk from early 90's/maybe late 80's I would say (still have a few of the pieces floating around). From there it began, played until the beginning of 4th I would say, unsure but, the last 2 rules books I have one has the black Templar's on the front and the last one has a war hammer (early 2000's I think. I remember buying the war hammer one on leave just to read, hadn't played in ages) . Took around 10 years or so off in the early/mid 2000's cause had work commitments.

Then came back towards the end of 7th, rehashed old armies, made new ones has been fun

EDIT: I came back because was surfing youtube one day and saw MWG, then a few other wargaming channels and was like, bloody hell I have a gak tonne of that stuff in storage I should play that again. Since then my wife has gone: "You are not aloud to watch anything that reminds you of your youth" (not them exact words, insert profanity...)

I was bought RT when I was 7, but had no hope of accessing the rules beyond throwing dice when told to by the older boy who was DM. So although technically I started then, I'd say 2nd edition was when I properly started playing; few years older and simpler rules made all the difference. Played solidly until 2000, and dropped out in 3rd with a Khorne army that rampaged all in the Lincoln gw store.

Started at the end of 2nd edition and continue onto 3rd until after the 3.5 chaos codex came out. To which I stop after feeling disappointed that I had less than half the codex of units to use for my thousand sons army and along with no one to play against in my small city.

Recently started again about 2 years ago a few months before thousand sons got their new models. Was great timing for a old thousand sons player to get back into the hobby. Along with my brother in-law and brother started an army before then so I had some people to play against.
