We can probably move on from the Primer vs Base Coat argument - they don't appear to be marketed as a primer, just as a base coat, so we can safely assume that they're intended as a base coat and not a primer.

Whether or not that means you need to buy a separate primer will come down to how well these adhere to and cover models without one, which we're not really going to know until they're out in the wild.

From Vallejo's Facebook page:

Acrylicos Vallejo wrote: Yes, you can use it like Primer on plastic, metal and resin without any problem.

Still if you want a proper primer from Vallejo, get something with 'primer' in the name.

It's unlikely to be an issue. Miniatures, particularly plastics, really don't need an actual primer. So their statement is effectively correct, assuming the sprays are reasonable quality.

Weirdly excited for this! Who would have thought spray cans could make me giddy. Hopefully this will make other manufacturers up their game too. As long as they are as good as they look.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Has anyone actually spotted these for sale yet(ideally in the UK)?

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

They've only been available for 10 days and it's Christmas time...admittedly I sent an email to Neal at the Warstore and don't believe I heard back. This time of year is hectic, so I assume we'll see some actual stuff on the street by mid-January.

This is great as I find Army Painter and especially Citadel to be way overpriced. Sadly there aren't many places to get Vallejo here without ordering; a few stores stock some of the range but nobody stocks all of it.

This looks to be in line with the AP prices for the amount you'll likely be getting. You can get AP for around $12 a can, GW closer to $20, and this looks like - with discount - it may be around $10 or so, albeit 3 oz. less.

Interesting at first, but looking through their color selection I see little of use to me. Their desert yellow and Panzer yellow don't match the Vallejo paints I use for these purposes, and usinf a spay can to base coat 15mm infantry is kind of pointless since you invariably need to go over it with a brush anyway to get complete coverage. Nothing else I do requires mass painting miniatures in one color.

I'm fairly sure it is down to the mix of gases in the can...

Amazing and just what I've been waiting for. Finally get can the backlog of models completed at a much more rapid pace... assuming my store can order these.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

This is irritating. Two months since announcement, one month since they're ostensibly available, but still not for sale anywhere I can find and the couple of places I phoned(big online hobby retailers who stock Vallejo) hadn't even heard of them.

I fear they'll be like some of the colours of Tamiya spary paints, they exist on paper but nobody in the supply chain ever sees them

actually I'm wrong ebay has just had a UK model shop listing some of these so it looks like they're just appearing (or perhaps they've special ordered direct from Vallejo)

My distributor here in Canada has told me that they expect to receive their first shipment of these from Vallejo sometime in late January or early February. Looking forward to it!
