Remember the people writing the campaigns are 5 year old's getting excited about good guys almost losing and pulling stuff out their arse in the last minute. (INB4 they aren;t 5 year olds you're just a hater. I don't mean this negatively but their good writing on focusing on the novels, their campaigns have always been somewhat predictable)

Bobby G will be nearly run over, All four major Chaos god primarchs have returned, Mortarion, Fulgrim, Angron, Magnus and a new Chaos Primaris Abaddon at the Helm of the black legion, all looks bleak and dire for imperium of man. wooo chaos!

But then, in the last hour of need as bobby G faces death as the blade of Fulgrim falls down on him he's still alive. He opens his eyes and infront of him a giant shield weilded by a golden locks giant. The lion his most unlikely brother has returned to save him. Lion armed with Relics of old caliban to hunt the fallen embraced both old caliban and imperium might. Sword and Shield in hand.

Meanwhile Russ to his right is battling Magnus and Khan to his left fighting Mortarion armed with webway technology. The lion piks up his brother as they together take on Angron and Fulgrim.

I call that all four traitor primarchs will return first to make things look "dark" for the imperium of man.

This is itself a better storyline than GW could manage, ironically.

-----------------------

Fulgrim seems to be the common choice, but like others have mentioned I haven't seen anything particularly concrete.

What I would like? Dorn, the Lion, or Fulgrim.

What I will likely get? Fulgrim and Russ.

I am not opposed to Russ, I just think the story for the Lion would be nuts since his Legion is behaving in a way that is diametrically opposed to how he would want. And ten thousand years of sins to wash away would weigh heavily on the Primarch, who in my opinion, seems to be the most self-loathing. Fulgrim is a good chance. I think Emperor's Children have a decent chance of getting a big release this year. GW is going to want to replace those resin upgrades with plastic.

I can't tell you how excited I'd be for Khan Discount Russ, less savage and even less interesting, but with free emo torture angst.

The Lion or Russ could at least push events somewhere, or act in opposition to Roboute. (I still want a divided Imperium, or at least different philosophies in play, something that actually justifies all the ink spilled over the years on non-codex chapters)

Apparently the GW people in the Vigilus Q&A gave a wink and nod to angron being next. I believe Valrak included it in his vigilus summary video.

My guess is Fulgrim. That they are releasing the Noise Marine and a box containing new Slaanesh units kinda feels like they are giving Slaanesh some love since most of the other Chaos Gods have had their time in the sun already.

On the Loyalist side I do hope they release the Lion. He would be a nice foil to Roboute and his adherence to the will of daddy.

Edit:

I also wonder if they release Primarchs that allow them to develop a new codex. If they release Fulgrim and some Noise Marines they would have the chance of releasing an Emperor's Children Codex. The same could hypothetically be done with the loyalist primarchs. Release one and then develop one chapter into a whole new codex.

You mean the Lion and his near Dorn levels of adhering to Daddy’s will (unless it will benefit him)?

I don't see Dorn being the pick because he would get along too well with Guiliman. They are both level headed and reasonable with no real extreme quirks or agendas that would create an interesting narrative. Someone like Lion or Russ would be a better pick to come back for the loyalists due to their own sub faction status and they would be more easily inserted into the narrative. You could write in just about any of them coming back in some form, but for now I see GW going for the big names up front so Lion or Russ for loyalists and Fulgrim and Angron for chaos.
After that we can see others come back.

Either El'Jonson or Russ are the most likely Loyalists if GW wants a narrative where the Imperium is not all bestest buds with each other. The Lion and the Wolf are the least likely loyalist Primarchs to just go along with Guilliman's agenda without question.

Lesser Daemon of Chaos

The deck of the Widower

The Blood Angels find themselves defending their last bastion on Baal from a seemingly endless horde of Bloodletters with Ka'Bandha at its head. Driven back into an inner courtyard, the last remaining defenders prepare for the end, letting their bloodlust take them and chanting litanies to the Emperor and Sanguinius. A wounded Dante marshals his men for a bold attack when a section of wall explodes, showering the courtyard in rubble. Ka'Bandha rushes through, cleaving several dazed marines in twain. Bloodletters spill through the rent in the wall and with a bellow, the great daemon lunges towards the golden armored chapter master. Axes clash like thunder as the massively armored bulk of red flesh pushes Dante into the group of desperate soldiers. Fatigue threatens to overwhelm the old veteran and with a piercing cry, is driven to his knees. Suddenly, a shimmering rift appears overhead and with a blinding flash of light Ka'Bandha's immense bulk seemingly detonates from within. When the smoke and bloody mist clears all eyes widen in shock. Standing in front of Dante with hand outstretched is Mephiston. But it isn't Mephiston. This familiar librarian is at least a meter taller and jet black feathered wings flare out behind him as a dark mirror of their beloved Sanguinius. "Rise, Brother", the chief librarian says, grasping Dante by the arm, "we have much to discuss."

So, not a Primarch but a twin of Sanguinius. A fully realized Mephiston as a true successor and an awesome potential model. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I don’t see why they couldn’t do a reincarnated Manus entombed in a special dreadnought. That could be an amazing model. He has the most reason to come back and want to destroy some traitors. If it was done though, it would need to follow a Fulrim release. But that won’t happen.

It’s going to be Fulgrim, Angron and some other loyalist Primarch that will mostly be the same type of model as Gman with very little aesthetic difference.

I wish I played Chaos because the Traitor Primarch’s have been great models so far and I don’t see the future ones being any less cool.

Fulgrim and Angron are the easy traitors. Which comes first depends a lot on how resculpts of their associated cult troops goes. I’d be surprised if any of the others come before these two for those who have fallen from the Emperor’s Light.

Loyalist is a lot harder to pin down. Thematically, Russ is an easy fit. We’ve already had some of his lost sons coming out of the warp, and there is the whole Magnus thing that it would be east to continue story wise. Not sure what else could accompany him model wise. But that makes him possible as a splash release. BL book, maybe primaris up one of the old HQs, release him and call it done.

Lion is another one that easy from a fluff POV to just drop. I think he brings less to the table story wise then Russ, but would make for a nice foil to Guiliman. While russ would be more content to rampage around fighting stuff, The Lion would be competing with RG in his own space, which could make for some nice friction.

Khan/Vulcan/Corax/Dorn I think are all low probability, but possible. They all could be a splash with an upgrade sprue, re-do of a character or two, and maybe something new. I think if we ever get primaris bikes, that is when the White Scars will get their moment. The rest are very much in a whenever they want them timeslot.

Doesn’t a beefed up Sanguinor make more sense? Give him a Daemon Prince size model, and stats fitting of a Primarch representing that he’s a warp tainted psychic imprint of Sanguinius.

I think Dorn minus one hand, where he'll graft on the emperors Claw on his stub. I figure IF since they were the first chapter without a dedicated book to get an upgrade sprue. But I guess there's the argument that since they got their upgrade sprue that they won't get anything else.

So Raven Guard, Salamanders, white Scars are left to get upgrades. Of those three I'd hope for Corax.

Edit
I guess I forgot Iron hands but unless a clone of his escapes I doubt he's coming around anytime soon. That being said he wouldn't have his "iron hands" and would make for a decent arc

Mephiston is a separate character with his own personality that has a unique physical change happening that hasn't been completed. Sanguinor has no personality and would just end up being Sanguinius reincarnated. You could go either way, but I prefer to leave heroically dead primarchs heroically dead.

I suspect Fulgrim paired with the long awaited Keeper of Secrets release. Which needs to happen soon, as daemons are almost a completely finished all-plastic army at this point, and they've been polishing that bust for Age of Sigmar, too.

Just drop Fulgrim, KoS, noise marines and Slaanesh cultists for Valentine's Day and call it a good one.

Well it has to be a loyalist primarch, to even things out, after that it's Fulgrim ftw -to tie in with the semi big emperor's children release, after that how about Angron, Russ (wulfen) and The Lion(already awake from his nap) - I have no idea what I am talking about.

For the traitors, it's almost certain it would either be Fulgrim or Angron.

Loyalists are a murky selection. Most probably would be either Russ or Lionel Johnson.

Russ could be the utter beatstick the Imperium is missing, but I think Lionel would be a bit cooler story wise. No one on the Rock knows he's there, so imagine the jaws hitting the floor and crap in their power armor when he just suddenly steps out. "BTW's guys, here's the key for that vault of Dark-Age Tech, let's put something together for me."

There's already one primarch running around with a personal grudge against Fulgrim, why drag back a dead one, who also undermines the major theme of his chapter? (Ferrus disliked the mania for bionics over flesh, and planned to wean his chapter off that problem, by sacrificing his artefact hands)

It'd be interesting to have Fulgrim as both the next loyalist and Chaos Primarch. We know there's a loyalist version held by Trazyn and the Chaos version should still be running around wherever chaos people are.
