Looking amazing. In a kind of, would you sell the STL files way?

Been following this with interest, your tank looks great, although I feel the outer wings make it a bit too flyerish rather than a grav tank. Great to see you printing it off too, would love to see it painted!

Yes, that's what I'm most afraid of at this point, it's really crossing into Flyer territory with the size of those wings...

I don't know yet, but I think it would be nice if others could also benefit from this titanic effort.

I will see already if it ends up being a reasonable amount of work from printed to perfect or if it would benefit from being finished then recast. I sure hope not, just the cost of the Silicone Molds on such a piece would be frightening, plus I'm quite sure most pieces wouldn't fit in my pressure chamber.

So I really think the wings are a bit too big for this to remain a Skimmer, so I tried remaking the previous version of the wings, in a more Eldarish / Vampire style ... and it failed.

So I tried again, resizing the wings a bit so that they would stop being the dominant feature of this not-flyer.

Not convinced yet, but they're growing on me, been repositioning them a bit already, maybe they just need a bit of tweaking.

Either way, I'll probably leave them like this for now and start working on another - much harder - part again, the cockpit.

I think the smaller wings are looking great! The tail fin I'd also shrink a bit

What if you curved the outer wings a bit further down to make them a bit more like catamaran outrigger stabilizer type thingies?

Or maybe perforated then a bit to make them look a bit less like lifting surfaces?

Yes, it's looking quite oversized ... probably because I just love that feature lol. (that's what she said I guess)

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but the wings currently have no curvature, and should gain the same curvature as the front wings - maybe.
Currently they're in the same plane as the front wings, but yeah they could move around a bit - not sure though, since I've made a point to keep all other Wings and Fins in the same plane for the others (Hornet, Lynx, Scorpion, Cobra and the Falcon Mk3 chassis) so far.

I like the idea of adding holes in the design, but I don't know where yet - or which shape.

I already tried including holes in the front wings before, it didn't look good unfortunately.

Well this project ain't dead yet, I've been too busy to work on it though.

So here it is, with a more reasonable spoiler.

Well, I was kind of thinking about it these days anyway, and the 3D printer of Doom (Voron 2.1) is back online so hey why not.

I'm going to ask someone more artistic than me for inspiration on how to finish the design, and probably print all existing pieces already to see how it all looks in practice.

That tank is supposed to become the boss of these guys here:

They're missing a D-cannon wielding brother and two Lynx brothers, which will be painted at a later date.

I'm printing it right now, we'll see how it looks when it's all assembled.
Maybe I'll figure out how to finish the main body then, with a physical object in front of me.

Printing is progressing nicely. Slow as F even on a high speed machine like the Voron 2.1, I'm happy I don't have to print it on the Crealitys

That said that black spool is taking a beating I'm going to have to change it soon.

Finally tweaking and printing this piece was so awesome, I was able to assemble most things around it without effort... if only resin kits were that easy

It feels awesome to see it actually taking physical shape... and that thing is just insanely huge, it could be two classes above the Cobra and Scorpion MK II at that scale.

So either I scale it down or I'll have to build something in-between....

Rad! How are the print lines?? I imagine it'd take a bit of sanding to get it down to the smooth Eldar finish. Would be nice to see a shot next to a Wave Serpent for size comparison

The print lines are really good, it's a Voron 2.1 printing ABS, so it's a bit like an Ultimaker 5 but better.

That said, ABS is very tough so sanding will not be a piece of cake, I would expect that a fat milliput massage before the sanding would make everything a lot easier

Not going to sand this one though, it's just a test run to figure out how to finish the body and maybe turret and ...

Here it is with a regular tank and a super-heavy for size.

It's two classes above the Cobra at this size, maybe I should make it smaller so it's more like a jump from Lynx to Cobra.

Either way, now that I've seen it printed, I can say it's just awesome even though it's not finished, there's something about the physical object that is a lot better than the Fusion 360 renders.

I think I'm going to go for the classic Eldar pilot cockpit and a badass type II style turret to carry the actual prism, like a big Scorpion Type II kinda.

Awesome! That is huge! Something I did notice though is the scaling of certain elements, like the three indents on the upper part of the front fins. I think they should remain the same size as is found on the smaller vehicles, otherwise, it starts to look like its just a scaled-up version of a smaller vehicle. Might be something to keep in mind

I vaguely remember seeing something on thingiverse. It might worth a few searches.

Edit:

Nevermind. It was everything based on the wave serpent chassis. NOT the vyper.
