I'd wager Warhammer 3 at the VERY end of 2019 if we are lucky, but far more likely to be a 2020 title.

Yup. There has been *zero* news about it. If it were expected out this year, I think we'd have seen a trailer by now. Admittedly, much of the focus on the moment is on Three Kingdoms, which is due out in early March. But I'd have still expected to see something for Warhammer 3.

I'd not expect to see any marketing for it until Three Kingdoms is out. There's also possibly another Mini-TW game between Three Kingdoms and Warhammer 3 as well as DLC for Warhammer 2. So Winter is the most early I'd expect to see news or details of Warhammer 3

My thought as well.

They don't want to shoot themselves with cross advertising. They'll probably sit on any details of Warhammer III for a good 6 months or so after Three Kingdoms, let a DLC or two hit the market before drawing the attention elsewhere.

Mechwarrior 5 for me.
And Ace Combat 7 looks very enticing. I miss a good old TopGun pewpew session.

I wouldn't. Warhammer 2 still has a slann vs skaven DLC to come (and a free lord for lizards), and sometime after -that- we'll hear if there is another dlc faction pack (or not). I don't think we'll hear about 3 until around the same time the latter happens, or after. Given how slowly they're moving in general- the 'Festag' update is still in beta and I don't know they have given a date for lizards vs rats still, 2 may stretch out for a while yet. I wouldn't think they'd dump the DLC on top of three kingdoms, but they're running out of time to do it before.

Do we need a Warhammer 3? I thought TW 2 brought it all together?

Nope most of the demonic armies are missing, we only have the Chaos human woreshippers. There's also ogres and some other forces that are still not in the game. Plsu with them introducing the undead pirates there's a chance they might do Araby (who did get a warmaster army); Cathay and perhaps even one or two other fringe armies that never made it past the lore of the game.

Basically its always been a 3 game release with each game rolling into the next in bringing the armies and DLC along with it. So Wahrammer 3 is going to be supremely epic and I doubt we'll see (for MANY DECADES) any other RTS Fantasy game ever feature so many diverse factions (heck we've not even seen one to date at least since the move to 3D high resolution graphics - there were a few smaller games that did this back in the day with 2D sprites but not many)

Cyberpunk, Outer Worlds, and I guess that new space RPG Starfield.

Maybe none of them will actually arrive this year but I only really "look forward" to the sprawling epic story single player RPG genre, anything else I just pick up down the line on heavy discount.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Very good point, I had hoped that Kislev and Araby would get armies as later dlc in 2. Don't get me wrong I've been absolutely loving TW Warhammer so very much, they have done an amazing job and the detail cheers my very soul. I just assumed they would move on to something else and stop at 2. When the first one came out it seemed clear the people in the design team where genuine fans and it stood out with the various UI and art styles. If the third game does add even more armies I'd like to see more of the white dwarf issue armies like the Kobolds for instance.

All of the daemonic armies are missing- there is one (fairly poor) lord of change model in the game. And mortal chaos is still pretty thin.

But Cathay is still almost 100% not likely to happen. It's almost dead space as far as warhammer lore is concerned (what little material there is isn't much better than rumor), it would make 3's 'mortal empires' map FAR too big (ME already struggles a bit in terms of computer resources and interesting gameplay), and it would stomp on the toes of Three Kingdoms.

The chaos wastes and the badlands are the most likely limits of TW3, bounded by the mountain ranges, so maybe dwarfs/greenskins/kislev on the left edge of the normal campaign map and ogres on the right edge. And that assumes they do chaos dwarves and ogres and don't just focus on the chaos wastes (though that seems a less interesting option).

Contract was for three games, and they do blog about the third in their 'monthly' update (though details are absurdly vague for something they keep including- they've mentioned that there isn't anything to mention the last three times).

Armies like 'kobolds' (never actually heard of them in a GW context, though I know gnomes, half-orcs and a couple other standard fantasy races existed back in 3rd edition) are not going to happen. I'm surprised they went as far as they did with vampire coast in terms of things that never had GW models.

I think its important to remember that one big reason CA is doing Warhammer is not just for the money but the fact that its a popular game with many of their team. I think that's why we got the Undead Pirates and why they used higher sales to push for Norsca as DLC (even though that came back and bit them ahrd and they had to start from scratch with them for the second game all over again).

Basically I think they've got a lot of energy for the game and I'd wager some on the team see it as the last big celebration of the Old World since GW central killed it off. One last big project!

Plus I bet we see Age of Sigmar Total War from them at some point in the future. TW Warhammer has sold really well for them and for GW so it would stand to reason that they'd both like to follow that licence through. Of course if CA grabbed something insane like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones that might well scupper such plans

Another reason not to bother with Cathay, then, since it wasn't really ever part of the Old World. Better to focus on the armies that had a following and effect.

Kobolds had rules printed in a white dwarf in something like 2002/3? Similar to the vampire coast rules set, if they wanted to they could go wild with it.

Like Vampire Pirates you mean

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

Anyone going back to classic vanilla WoW in August?
I might give it a whirl for old times sake.

Nope. I can barely stand current WoW for more than about two weeks at a time. An old version of WoW with more grind, less functionality and less content? Hard pass.

I suspect a lot of 'classic' enthusiasts will find that their nostalgia lies to them... A lot.

I suspect a "whirl" is about all most people will give it.

I haven't played WoW in years, but I remember vanilla. However much people complain about WoW being a grind and timesink, the game was a lot moreso back then, and usually in ways that didn't involve actually playing but a whole lot more waiting. Endgame content all being 40 man PvE raids, Warsong Gulch, and the rare Alterac Valley match probably won't do much to keep people around nowadays I suspect

Taking 6 months to get to level 60 might be more than people want to deal with these days as well. I certainly don't have the time or patience for that the way I did when I was a late teenager.
